Eh, I'm a PhD candidate in a STEM field. Most of us aren't exactly Einsteins. Hard work and a desire to improve, which this character obviously possesses, would be worth a lot more than raw capability....

Are all Tattoos going to function identically? For example, a Lunar hunting Dragonblooded on the Blessed Isle might not make use of the Wyld-resistant powers of their tattoos, while benefiting from an ability to keep their tattoos hidden/suppressed. Are these sorts of varying functions on the table? Would you have to go down the route of Evocations to get some customizability, or could a player pick from a set at character creation? I recognize we might be too early in the process to say for sure....

  • It took me quite some time to grok Exalted Martial Arts, but eventually I understood what the writers were doing. They're not just exotic ways of fighting: they're expressions of philosophy, character themes taken to the combat engine.

A Dawn should never feel stupid for choosing anything other than MA as their supernal, nor vice versa. They should say, "This Supernal is the appropriate expression of my character," and making all abilities roughly equal is the way to accomplish that. Sidereals should be able to NOT use martial arts and still be viable and cool.

In another thread, someone suggested that Ex3's Dragon-blooded charmsets might offer greater operational diversity, such as the examples we've seen of letting one use Survival rather than Lore for an introduce Fact or Performance rather than Stealth to establish surprise, because Aspects don't have the "Pick 5 of 7" mechanic built in.

Is this an actual design philosophy? Is it true for totally different reasons? And if it's totally off base, do you have any thoughts on the design of the Terrestrial charmset that you'd like to share, to help us wrap our heads around it?...

Earth Bears Witness can subtract decisive attack dice. Could this reduce an attack's dice pool to below an Exalt's Hardness, negating the attack completely?

That could give the DB's up to 5 extra hardness (at a not-inconsiderable mote/init cost) if they're in the right environment, which could be a powerful incentive for Dragonblooded interior decorators to design appropriately.

Holy crap, the Elemental Aura mechanic looks so cool!

Can we get a hint of how one enters the aura state? My ST and I are guessing that it's tied to using charms of one keyword repeatedly (maybe with fewer raises if you're in-Aspect) or increasing your anima level, but we're really excited to see more of these awesome charms!

Excellent Strike definitely comes before HSP. The Brawl charm Reckless Fury Discard explicitly acts before Excellent Strike, while HSP does not.

I wouldn't be surprised if the Dragon-blooded had a version of Hail-Shattering Practice that worked only on 1's, so that it would be harder for them to overcome a skilled Solar swordsman. As it is, Hail-Shattering Practice can exploit the attack rolls even of other Solars or Abyssals, albeit to a lesser degree....
