replied to [2E] Gaia or Autochthon Charms?
    From memory, with some embellishments:

Gaia's humaniform jouten is the lady in the green dress with dusty, bare feet. As the progenitor of all things that live and die in stark contrast to the gods who are eternal, I would imagine that her Charmset has an iterative nature - no Permanent or Indefinite Charms, but perhaps Charms with durations of 'one generation'. The dust on her feet and the dress of green I interpret as the earth and the flora upon it, which I assume she'd have many Charms to command or enhance, above and beyond her command of the Terrestrial elements. Her boundless...

Some hard numbers from a subset of the playerbase are available here, from roll20.

Specifically, Exalted is 0.2% of their games (78) and 0.84% of their players (284). If you make the assumption that this is proportional, and have figures for some other game (say, D&D, at 30%/40%), you might be able to back-figure the Exalted playerbase (by multiplying by 0.84/40 = 0.021).

The proportionality assumption is suspect, of course, because roll20 specifically supports D&D with modules and player character sheets compared to roll20's support for Exalted which is limited...

To add on to the 'why cooperative Charms exist' it can be a memorable encounter for the party to meet NPCs who cooperate with their Essence, not just their tactics. Also easier for the Storyteller to run, since you can have very similar Charm loadouts among several NPCs....

Are they simply not mentioned yet, or developer-backed written off for 3e? This is relevant to some fanfiction I'm setting in 3e....

  • It's been fun reading your thoughts so far, aluminiumtrioxid. To give some more materials for the grinder, here's a link of some low-level conversion Charms/Homebrew I've been using for the Lunar at my table.

Greyman, I agree with most of your list but I think of Twilight as Temperance and Eclipses as Willpower.

The Eclipse have both an 'other' theme and a 'center' theme shared with Willpower in relation to virtues. Also because I feel like Twilights just have more zen to them - what will happen, happens. The laws of Essence are written to them, like engineers and physics, something to be discovered, unchanged, and unless you devote yourself a Solar ambition 3 working, it is best to work within them. Whereas the Eclipses I feel have a more lawyer feel - if the rules do not suit you,...
