I like the idea of making them alien and reserved -- because their memories are ancient and function differently than the other Fera. Thats something I have wanted to push for a bit.

The goal with looking at the Corax again is to reconcile their connect to archosaurs and dinosurs (specifically). Sure, now they are messengers... but the bird-dinosaur connection suggests they might come from a longer line of Fera with deeper roots than just their modern kin. I figure that might be something fun to explore and tweak a bit.

    I appreciate where you...

So, if the Kindred are the constructs of the Neverborn -- and the Neverborn are entities from the beginning of time that balked at being recycled -- then that could make the kindred tools created by the Neverborn to serve as anchor points for reality. The kindred are living stasis, and their existence helps root reality in place so that reality doesnt fall further towards the recycle point. Metaphorically, they are stakes driven into the ground in an attempt to avoid further erosion.

Which could also explain the way generation works. When the Neverborn created Caine or the first Kindred,...

    Sorry!

I wrote in the Mokole parts not to make them jerks all the time, but because they were from my perspective, a bit too alabaster and pure. I wanted the Mokole to have a bit more dimension to them. With all that power and knowledge and experience, I wanted to explore their dark side. I also wanted to address their possession of dinosaur shapes eve though they are not really connected to the dinosaurs -- so how did that happen? Likewise, why is the Corax 'war' form so pathetic when they come from some of the most impressive creatures ever?

    That said, the...

All of this. Though I would also avoid Shattered Dreams as well. Its layout and structure is really awkward at times. There are a couple of gems in there - the War of Shame entry is great.

But all you really need is W20. Its a giant book, filled with a lot of great material....

So... after a lot of work... Savage Age Volume 2: the Rise of the Garou is up! Focuses on four new proto Garou "Tribes," a new Gurahl type, lots of discussion on Totems appropriate to the Pleistocene, stories, and an essay on the conditions that led to the formation of the Garou. It also has the new snazzy character sheet (though thats free on STV).

As WtA fans, I would really appreciate any feedback (good or bad). I was up late last night working on the STV page and once I woke up this morning realized I forgot to add in some content (tiruals) -- so that is still...

  • Up until the BSDs become a thing, I think the number of fully corrupted Garou (and Fera in general) is pretty low through most of history -- so low that each instance is a big deal. Up until the Howlers fall, I suspect the Fera believed that something on that scale was simply impossible. Corrupted Fera were rare and important, something that occurred maybe once a generation in a given region, and probably even less than that. Fully corrupted Garou and Fera could be dealt with - they were dangerous and significant, but manageable at significant cost.

...and then the BSD come along...

  • Fenris almost assuredly predates the viking concept (in fact, considering we know the Get were active during the Impergium -- its all but assured).. I think it makes a lot of sense that Fenris pre-existed the Vikings and may have had contact (or descend from) the Garou that originally venerated Fenris.

Though, to be honest, I think the Wendigo and White Howlers have more in common.

So, the legendary Mr. Gone gave the new form fillable / editable character sheet for Savage Age a strong thumb's up. How great is that?

That seriously made my day. Getting that project done as both a normal and editable sheet has been a major undertaking. I hated using the Dark Ages character sheet -- it was good enough, but didnt reflect the differences that Savage Age embraces in terms of game play. I put off doing a character sheet for a long time, prioritizing other things -- until I finally got fed up. I am super glad its there....

  • So, in the Savage Age, they are... at least distantly. I am working on Vol 2 right now and just inserted an essay on how the various Tribes came to be. In the Savage Age there are proto-Garou canid Fera who start to intermindle during the War of Rage. The number of canid-Fera "Tribes" (they really arent Tribes in the modern sense, but the word fits)

This is the table I am working on to track the various inter-relationships... its still not finalized, so there might be a few shifts in the final version.
