I feel like that's just as much a problem of playing with 5 players, rather than purely a Solar vs. DB powerlevel thing. One of my friends recently played in a mixed circle game of 2 Solars 1 DB and enjoyed it, but with only three players its much easier to have a niche and also to just get more attention during a game. That said, yeah, you do have to be willing to accept being considerably less powerful as a DB in a mixed Solar/DB game, but the devs have always been honest about this being the case.

As to lethality, firstly its not a pvp game so your DB doesn't have to be built to...

Yeah, Graceful Flowing Defense is fine. There's one or two charms I think are a bit weak, but DB melee offers multiple viable build paths - depending on element - and their E1-2 charms are mostly solid....

No, but your hostile tone and condescending attitude is.

You said earlier that you wanted cool powers and you were a DB fan, but now you also don't care if your charmset has elemental themes that tie into what they do.

Weapon agnostic ranged decisive attacks that don't require a ready/weapon misc action are powerful in 3e. The bonus they get on top of that is considerable too....

You're not even trying to defend your original argument that, 'WFHW is full of useless speedbump charms that aren't worth using.' You just jumped over to comparing them unfavorably to Solar charms.

What about your statement that you were totally fine with DB power as just the excellency and a few ox-bodies?

It seems like you actually want more than that.

Additionally, the example you chose was full of implicit assumptions about the relative combat investment of the Solar and DB. You can get what you claim you want by just having...

Dragon's Hidden Treasure allows you to store any held object in solid stone. It's a perfect fit for both Larceny and the elemental flavor of Earth magic, it has way more applications than just storing a weapon somewhere.

So your problem with being able to speak telepathically is that people get a chance to notice. How many truly perfect effects do you think there are in the game? You can defeat Flawlessly Impenetrable Disguise and Flawless Pickpocketing technique in 3e.

Fire is the only EBA worth taking? It's telling that you seem to be unaware of how powerful the Smashing...

Here are a collection of cool E1-2 powers just from casually skimming the manuscript: Dragon's Hidden Treasure, Speech Without Words, Elemental Bolt Attack, Dragon-Graced Weapon, Fivefold Resonance Sense. All of them either expand your toolkit of what you can do or provide cool elemental flavor or both. The utility bread and butter charms that manipulate dice or negate penalties are worth using for their mote cost - for example, if you're suffering a defense penalty and you want to raise your DV to max they're a no-brainer.

The common theme I'm seeing here is a constant comparison...

This is incoherent. First you're saying that 3e Dragon-Blooded have all the power you want them to have, right now, with just the excellencies and a few ox-bodies. Okay, so you're satisfied with that representing the floor of Exalted power. But then you say you'd only buy Evocations or MA for greater mechanical power. Bwuh?

Earlier you stated that you want the DB baseline to be all the benefits of the Aura keyword at all times, but you go on to reiterate that the DB set has all the power you need it to have. And what are the 'speedbump' charms in the way of your enjoyment?
