Well, it's not out of the blue for her characterization that she'd want to kill and replace humanity because she smiled when watching the humans killing each other in her crystal ball.

Oh, Ironwood is going to be so angry with her when he hears how she wasted Oz and our heroes' time getting into Atlas with the Relic of Knowledge....

Her exact words were, "Why spend our lives trying to redeem these humans when we can replace them with what they could never be?" So it's explicitly about replacing humanity, there was no other "them" in that sentence and "what they could never be" refers to not having magic like Salem and Oz had just discovered their children had. Especially as this came after they had already replaced the gods with themselves. No need to declare an intent to do what they'd already done. And replacing the gods was also the same as "redeem[ing] these humans". She explicitly...

I did notice that he didn't even try talking Salem out of her notion of replacing mankind when she voiced it....

Newbie question (well, newbie to this particular thread), is the RWBY thread in the Exalted forum just because of a vague similarity in setting (i.e. fighting monsters, incredible feats possible with Aura and Semblances) or another reason?

That depends how big the effect from her red energy orb that we never saw land would have been. A really bad mother, no one's disputing that. She should have had a servant take them out of the building like you said. But I don't think she had any deliberate plan to murder them, or was thinking rationally other than trying to destroy Oz for trying to take them away from her.

On another topic, I speculate that the reason they're called Semblances is that they provide a semblance of what having magic was like, though on the other hand for all we know there may be Semblances whose effects...

And by the time she was leading an army against them, I don't think she had any illusions that doing so would somehow convince them to bring Ozma back. She just wanted to destroy them for not resurrecting him.

It's not clear of course, but my impression was more that they were killed in the crossfire. Like a roof fell on them or something....

Daughter of Hedrada, Miridum was demigoddess of lore and arcane magic, who would have filled the void left by Mesos, but was killed by Hrinruuk the Hunter during the war. As such, the sphere of arcane magic is unregulated by any deity.

Also note the majority of Divine Races, including humans, elves and dwarves, were created by the Titans (though some of their more fanatical members try to destroy evidence of this), and are only "Divine Races" rather than "Titanspawn" because most of their population turned from the Titans to the Gods.
