For Shipbreaker's Crushing Force of the Depths, the damage to creatures is noted to be 'unsoakable' but soak is not something that generally applies to decisive damage. I'm not sure if this is meant to be 'this damage cannot be reduced by any effect' or the more typical 'this damage ignores Hardness' that we see in other artifacts.

Given that the evocation guidelines for the various artifact ratings given in Arms seem to be more about scope of effect than mechanical advantage, what is it about Unison that makes it rate at 5 dots?

Thanks to all the questions surrounding Increasing Strength Exercise a while back, we know that when charms reference one of your Attributes, what it cares about is your unmodified score, so would ISE raise the number of rounds you could take advantage of when throwing an enemy, since that's a base system thing, and not a charm?

I know Exalted generally assumes system transparancy as far as dice pools and declaring your stuff upfront for the most part, but how do you guys personally reconcile this when you want a power to be kind of an unknown? For example, assume that Volcano Cutter hadn't been printed in the corebook, and you sprang the whole eruption point business on your players in game? Would you just hand them the charm text? Make them roll for it? Give them some vague, handwavey 'stepping on that seems like it'd be dangerous'?

You can't combine Single Point and Steel Devil by using paired slashing swords?...

  • I'm all for a Capoeira style. Wasn't it Holden who wrote that up for 2e? Swaying Grass Dance? I remember reading it and liking the majority of it, but I'd like more larceny/guile synergies to capture the sense of malicia a little better....

If a Steel Devil Stylist has supplemental attack-enhancing charms that can boost Withering attacks (from another Martial Art or perhaps some evocations), would they trigger and/or need to be paid multiple times on double/triple attack technique?

Do crash bonuses and the +1i for hitting add to Flashing Edge of Dawn's damage? If I Flashing Edge someone for 4 damage when they're at the base 3, do I roll 4, 5, or 10 decisive dice on them?

Thanks for the answers! As always, they help us poor rookie STs a bunch!

The combat section only talks about Ride replacing the normal Athletics/Dodge skills when making mounted movement actions, and the 'ride-based movement command' phrase comes up a few times throughout the Ride charms, but if that doesn't refer to your normal movement actions, I'm not quite grokking what would count. Do you think you could give an example or two?...

Ride hasn't previously been very relevant to my campaign, but because I'm a genius I've decided that one of the enemy Solars my players are fighting next session is going to be heavily invested in it. So, more questions!

-Seasoned beast rider's approach goes out of its way to say that ordering their mount to take a ride-based movement action doesn't use the Solar's own move action. What are the practical implications of this? Should the Solar get what amounts to two move actions (one on their turn, one on the horse's)? Move, then dismount, then move?

    -With Supernal Lash...

First, I just want to share a little story from the most recent player to join my game: He had never even heard of Exalted before listening to me talk about the skype game I'm running with some friends from high school, so he jumped in to our vacant spot largely to hang out with the lot of us again. I tried explaining everything as best I could, but there's a lot to take in and some stuff just inevitably doesn't quite sink in until you've played a bit. So, four sessions in he asks if it'd be okay to write up a new character since he had some things he'd have done differently, and I was real flexible...
