  • So a few points of difference, before getting into this: If a fight would be resolved without rolling dice I don't usually have it in the docket. I just...don't run things like "10 wolves jump 5 solars and get slaughtered." There's no clear narrative point to it. The hungry ghosts are closer, but that fight taking 2 turns seems...fine for it's narrative purpose.

That first set of questions is very improtant however. I expect that if you, the ST, know I have 30 demons at my command, you would account for that either mechancially or narratively. Sometimes that means fights...

  • Ask and thou shalt recieve

Your combats are already far too easy for a group of 5 Exalts, depending on how you run them. By which I mean: BG Size 1 of wolves is going to take one or 2 turns, letting the BG of Blood Apes shorten that to 1 is not a big deal. If it's 10 wolves, as invidiuals, then it might take 1-2 turns, depending on the charms the Dawn has--if this is E3(because you mention octavian), it will take 1 or 2 turns, at e1 it might take 3.

If you can't split the difference between "fight is trivial because of the battlegroup" and "fight is the...

  • As an ST:
Battle Groups can't use charms, per dev comment--so AOE attacks and Principle of Motion Attacks are homebrew already. That said.
Fight 1: A battlegroup of wolves (becuase yes, 10 wolves should be a battle group) is a trivial fight. Yes. 1 round, Blood Apes, after wolves ambush. If your runnning them as individuals, for some reason, then run the fight. The BG will probably crash them, letting the party finish in 1-2 rounds. Might be a turn quicker than average, depending on the BG's iniative roll.
Fight 2: Let the Battle group fight the battle group, Maybe up the size?...

  • I think summoning demons for combat and then not using them in combat deeply undermines their use. If I summoned 30 blood ape demon body guards as a battle group, I’d assume I wanted them to do some fighting and some fighting with dice—presumably that I the player would run, not the ST. This is extra so for the Second Circles. Now with things like single tasks, like the assassination example, I agree. Or crafting, or other parts where player interference doesn’t matter and time isn’t pressing.
I think your approach to demons as primarily narrative elements is interesting even if...

I don’t suppose you can tell us the different abyssal favored abilities? I remember Dusks getting ride unlike dawns for instance.
Does this different caste abilities carry over to Infernals?
Have you worked out how infernals interact with sorcery differently then Solars and Lunars, the masters of sorcery and the witches respectively? I recall infernals having a warlock moniker

Excellent! The rest of the regions have earlier Deathlords to reference back to, but the Dreaming Sea is a bit of an anomaly in that regard, so I look forward to it.
Do Deathlords choose who gets an abyssal exaltation or is that element dropped? I was perusing 1e and forgot that tidbit....

I found Journey to the West very informative for dealing with Lunars, gods, and sidereals--as someone who is often stumped by "well how do shapeshifters ever get caught".
Lord of Light is good. Tales of the Flat Earth is good. Moorecock is good. I'ma classics nerd, so you know Illiad, Oddessey, etc....

Very very barely...actually, not at all depending on what you count. Unless we assume that the old Dev team was going to take multiple years to complete every book, the rate has been about 1 book a year:
Exalted Core (we'll not count the Miracles Book, for fairness) 2016
Arms of the Chosen (Nov. 2017--Old Devs credited but this is transistion, as by all reports I've heard, the Old Devs took a number of notes with them)
Dragonblooded (Out to Backers in late 2018, Public Apr 2019.)
    The Realm (July 2019)

So, we have an average of 1 book per year, for 4 years(new...

For Infernals, is it 13 and 25 or has the number been adjusted?

Also, for the Deathlords--I assume it'd be permissible for Homebrew Deathlords to be the source of Hoembrew Charms?...

  • I mostly do "major geographic feature" "name of important person" or "folk named"
Twin Split Spears is named after two giant monoliths of stone, pointed at the top, that rise from the ground. Local belief has it that the first humans (or at least the first warriors) emerged fromt he split spears.
Sukulit's name is lost to history, but generally accepted to be connected to the ruin that stands here. It's actual derivation is from an Old Realm phrase "Watcher Upon the Shore", as the First Age city was also watching an ancient broken Solar Working...

Rand's Martial Arts book and mine include optional gimmicks for MA stylists. Mine are here, Rand's here
Neither include the Core MAs, but should give some ideas. I've included mortal martial artists as mooks, gangasters, and so on. Usually as minions for an exalt or godblooded....
