  • Well if you want to reduce it to just numbers on your sheet why even bother with rp? Just min/max like in a MMORPG and beat the game.

    I know I used the term erroneously, but it was clear what I ultimately meant.

    It may be a solitary opinion, but I approach my games with the Hierarchy of Sins as your own moral code, something you truly believe in that shapes your behaviour. Committing a sin should be a last resort situation, the book even says on the rules the ST should warn a PC when his action might warrant a Road/Path Roll.

    Abusing the crunch while ignoring...

  • Depends on the Path. Some Paths don't care and Path of Blood makes it mandatory.

    Quatar "You could buy your humanity back up between Diableries." ----------> This doesn't make any sense. Humanity is not a stat or a contract where you try to go around the clauses. If you increase your humanity is because you reflect on your past/current sins and come to realize they are abominations and you should never do that action again. You can't go up in Humanity and still think it's cool to do Diablerie, especially more than once. Coherence is good to have in character.

    To be honest I don't think there's material on that. There's a reference to Oxford and Cambridge in Victorian Age Vampire and Manchester in Victorian Age Vampire Companion but it's not even a full page... This is what comes to my mind, perhaps someone else remembers better sources.

  • I couldn't agree more with 11twiggins ! I have made stupid decisions in game, and paid dearly for them. It made sense so I didn't complaint. Two of the best stupid decisions I made even opened up dramatic and emotional endings o the respective chronicles. Vampire isn't a game "to win". Even failure can be interesting if played out well. Of course, as a player, I want my character to succeed but if he fails and the consequences are logical and dramatic I will still appreciate the story. To be honest I'd much prefer that than knowing I succeeded because the ST carried me inside a protective...

    I really liked Ryoga84 approach. It makes something to be considered and numerous plots can emerge from that, especially with overpopulation, indiscriminate breeding, etc.

  • Sorry if this sounds rude, but your players seem to need a babysitter instead of a ST. You gave them all he information, the characters had the physical material as well as the information pieces to stop the ritual, the only thing they had to do was talk and would end the chronicle with an astonishing success. It wasn't about how you ran the chronicle, but how they played the game.

    At my table me and my friends take responsibility for the backlash our in fighting generates. It's not the ST fault, it's ours and we take it as part of the game just like the in fighting at times is logical...

  • I am new to Storytelling, but a few things I like to do and I think helps players immersion in the world:

    - Everyone writes a background (long or short, I do not impose each players writes what he wants) and ask them to mention a) personality b) friends and family c) hobbies d) objectives/dreams;
    - I have the main plot, which is the story, but also a few "side quests" for each PC based on their background;
    - Have players interact with the NPCs with some regularity, even in meaningless ways, they feel it's all part of the world and not isolated characters;...

  • Ok, I see your points and they are valid. But Dementation and Dominate require eye contact, which is impossible to do without manifesting.

  • 11twiggins I understand your reasoning, I am not contesting that. But you turnt an invincible version of a ghoul into a useless version of a ghoul.

    - Can't move from their Fetter: Guards the Haven but can't warn the Vampire or do anything to defend it, only tell the Vampire what happened while he was gone (a security camera can do the same without the hassle of biding a ghost).

    - This part of the Shroud is reinforced in various supplements of various splats, couldn't agree more.

    - So a Ghost can only attack if it gives up all his powers and manifests as normal...

  • They aren't. Not at all. And since you don't live in EU and have no idea how things are over here, I would advise you on your prejudice and acusations. Making the Romani abide by a country's law above their own ethnical laws isn't oppression, it's democracy and laws.

    Living in a country which has a strong gypsy presence taught me that a minority of them are stand up citizens, do their part and really feel part of the country without giving up their traditions. And those never speak of racism. The ones that reclude themselves from the "gajo" society (yes they have demeaning...

  • You couldn't be any wronger and borderline offensive. Ravnos are actually a romantic version of the Rom. If you lived in a country with a strong Rom presence you'd reconsider everything you said, for the reality is much darker than the WoD. Of course it's not 100% of them, but it's a somewhat accurate representation. You should pay less attention to SJWs and live, like I used to, in a neighbourhood where they are the majority.

    Now, moving to the game itself. They are as much stereotyped as everyone else. And their weakness is not crime, it's "Vice", huge difference in how...
