I remember a Thaum ritual utilizing soil of your homeland.
Think I saw it in some 2nd edition Sabbat book.

Medival meets Renaissance, the Ascension war is getting on, and I am familiar with the place.

  • That breaks suspension of disbelief for me.

True Faith is added to Willpower, hence it would significantly reduce the percentage of kids to get addicted to various substances.

Plus they would not bully other kids, or just stand as spectators.

  • I think that this is only of consequence in the Mageverse.
If you are playing in some other setting, then I would avoid using Mage rules. Especially considering that a non mage would roll for backlash only once a century, starting at the fifth....

  • The standard inconveniences off a typical ST that get thrown at a immortal mortal should be enough for a couple of centuries worth of ppermadox.

I posted as a response to the “magick is either vulgar or not, there is no scaling“, to show that there are at least 3 different levels of vulgar magick....

It depends how you handle guardian angels.
If you can summon one that means either that every human has one (parallel to an Avatar or as Avatar) or that your thoughts are enough to summon “your“ guardian angel from the High Umbra.

If not every human has one and it doesn't come from the High Umbra, then the rote can summon nothing. Then you have to take an ally first, which in turn makes the rote rather pointless.

I would use the High Umbran option.
So without the rote the guardian angel can not influence the world in a direct way.

    An additional point to consider:
The Techies may have more power, but can they use all that power at their leisure on the spot?

What matters is the power you can bring to bear, not the total power you have.
As written the Technocrats are spread out, working on countless things on countless locations.
A single mystic can potentially screw them on one thing at a certain location.
Both sides know very well that the threat of power has power itself.

To end the Tellurian as an act of mery sounds quite nephandiesq to me....

  • Not all PC raise Arete as fast as possible. Some buy extra dots with freebies (up to 3 are possible).

And the question originated from the fact that Arete and Spheres are not tied together.
The example of the Vampire is besides the point.
Melee is not an intrinsic property of Vampires, but Arete is an intrinsic property of Mages....

  • My NPC also get a variable amount of dots.
If many spheres are at the limit, then they don't get many dots.
If their knowledge is more diverse, then they get more dots.

Kind of if they bought it with XP(but I spare myself the burden of calculation).

Of course, this rule of thumb gets thrown out of the Tapestry if the story demands certain proficiencies.

The # of dots are about this:
Arete 1-2 mages get between 0 and 6 dots.
Arete 3 mages get between 4 and 9
Arete 4 mages get between 6 and 15
Arete 5 mages get between 8...

And everyone and their dogs would do it.
