replied to Siskur Dah as Pack Rite?
All very good points - and the reason I wanted to ask, here, rather than just doing it - some very specific unintended consequences involved that I had not thought about as yet. The above quoted portion (that Satchel also clarified) is the crux of what I needed to, though. I have been misunderstanding the intent of the brief discussion of Pack rites vs Wolf rites at the beginning of the Rites section of the book particularly where the definition of "participation" is concerned.

Thanks, for the informative breakdown of ideas, there....

  • Cool - any ideas on when release will be? The couple previews that have been released are intriguing, but my game should hopefully be launching sometime in the next month or so and I was kinda hoping for at least some clue as to what the Flesh side of a Wound looks/feels like sooner rather than later....

But don't Wolf Rites require that everyone participating in the Rite actually know the rite (and thus have to be a wolf) or is that just for anyone that wants to use Teamwork to aid in the die rolls for the Rite - but other pack members can still participate, just not from a mechanical sense?...

    Siskur Dah as Pack Rite?

I am seriously thinking about houseruling Sacred hunt / Siskur Dah as a Pack Rite for my upcoming crossover Chronicle. The reason for this would be so that non-Uratha pack members can gain the benefits of any Siskur Dah called by the wolves. Particularly the beats gained from Exceptional Successes against the Prey so that they remain on a more even footing with the wolves with regards to XP gain and character advancement, but also having access to the other benefits of the rite would also be helpful in successfully completing the Hunt.

What I'm curious about is whether anyone else...

    Wound (Spiritual Kind) Questions

Looking for some help RE: Wounds

    1. In the discussion of Wounds in the WtF2e book, I see the discussion of effects inside the Wound on the Hisil side of the gauntlet, but what would the Flesh side of the Gauntlet be like inside the area of a Wound? I'm sure it would be noticeable, but what would the effects be?

    2. Also, am I understanding correctly that (at least theoretically) the Wound would be surrounded by either a Barren or a Shoals as the essence of the surrounding area is drawn into the Wound (and then corrupted)?

    3. I am intrigued by the concept...

  • Can't Mages of the Fate Arcana also sanctify Oaths? - so even if non-Changelings can't be Oathsworn via the Motley oath, if you've got a Fate Mage in the group you could still bind the entire group with an Oath through Supernal means....

  • Since the game will most likely be taking place 6th century Britain following the fall of Camelot, getting buy-in from the non-Uratha to take patronage from a local spirit may not be as difficult as with a modern era game. Though if we end up with a multi-religion party that could get interesting.

One other thing I have considered is having members of different splats having their own individual allegiances to their respective pack, court, or order (I know these are not analogous groups, but they're what I am seeing as the most likely "local group" for each splat within...

  • Handling Mixed Groups - Pack / Cabal / Motley

I haven't gotten into the CtL2 section on Motley's very heavily yet, but I know that Forsaken and Awakening seem fairly open about allowing Packs and Cabals to include individuals who are not of the specific splat type - and I can kind of see how you might deal with the odd variant character in an otherwise cohesive group (I've dealt with a single Awakened as part of an Uratha Pack) but anyone have experience or thoughts on handling a PC group comprised of single individuals of multiple groups?

I have a game that i am prepping for sometime in the near future that is likely to involve...

  • Some sort of overlapping of Hedge/Arcadia and Underworld/Depths sounds like an interesting concept - I'll have to think more on the implications involved

  • Direct contact with Gwyn, himself, is unlikely until way later if ever. Indirect contact will be pretty likely, however, as part of the fun in playing in an Arthurian setting (even post-Camelot-apocalypse) is delving into some of the magical side of the mythos. I at least need to be able to define Annwn in a fashion. I suppose I could go the route of -everything- is Annwn - meaning that no matter whether Underworld, Shadow, Arcadia (or I suppose even Astral) they still call it Annwn and think of it as a single realm. Not certain whether that adds to or detracts from the magical feeling once...

  • Mythic Underworlds and Their Keepers in CofD ... where would they fall?

So I'm working on the early stages of a new Chronicle for my local gaming group and I've hit a slight snag in dealing with some of the "Greater Powers" that should theoretically exist in my setting - in one fashion or another - and that has got me thinking about the issue on a larger scale. Most historical mythologies have something to say about what happens to a person after they cease to draw breath - Norse warriors dreamed of Valhalla, the Celts expected to make their rest in one of several 'Otherworlds' depending on culture, beliefe and other factors, and almost always there are...
