  • In 1E the Foundations followed an academic/Mad Science trope to a T, so that's were the 'engineering' emphasis comes strongly even if they weren't Artificers. There's a lot more occupations and interests to apply the Mad Arts & Sciences (and beyond) to, so broadening the Foundations a little bit more would be key. Which could be done with their initial Fields, perhaps a few Fellowships that have ties to the Foundations. At character creation the player selects the first most applicable Field for their Genius.

For example, as a foil to a graffiti artist character in a game I run...

  • That's a good look at the Thesis, glad to see it still exists in the mechanics somewhere and has also expanded to include Axioms and Fields beyond Inspiration. Does that include all Axiom dots, or would it be waived for the Catalyst's core Axiom?

As for what the Foundation provides in terms of Impetus boosts, are the Foundations still granting further starting Axioms? Or might they work better offering starting Fields? While not limiting Fields to only certain Foundations, there's a few 'career' ideas around each Foundation that could serve as initial Field examples.

  • So with the change from Mania to Impetus, I wanted to address what changes that would bring to the minor templates and features converted from 1E to 2E.

A Genius gained 1 Mania each day, along with other methods of gaining it. Most Manes and certain types of Wonder required 1 Mania each day, and any Inspired Manes or similar basically canceled out their daily Mania gain/spent. Thus far, easy to see how that works with Impetus.

So then you get to the ways Mania was stored. At the core, Beholden were useful not only for physical assistance and servitude, they could be supplied...

  • That sounds fitting, the more the Siren cares for Nature and/or Civilization triggering worse Maelstroms when either are threatened. Does that mean Stability will affect Dissonance as some form of penalty?

  • You mean for Stability to be the sum of Foundation, Civilization and Nature, correct? Because that is how the current rules are written. It doesn't sound anything like how Harmony, the closest variant of the Integrity system, acts with changes when the Siren is at middle values, high values, and low values. Especially if the values of Civilization and Nature are specific and can be defined at character creation.

Because the whole of Stability as written is Foundation, Civilization and Nature.

When a Siren gains dots or loses dots within Stability, she gains or loses

  • I'm thinking more along the lines of appearance changing projections, holograms, false smells and the like whenever your Metatropi Wonders create Illusions without creating a permanent change (in most cases). Deceptions or miscommunication along your bedrock transceiver is fine, of course, but that sounds like a case of user input as to whether the information is factual or false. Apokalypsi as the Axiom of Discovery is about the revelation and sending of information. My Apokalypsi wonder would be the best way to leave a convincing paper trail, but I'm not going to use it to throw up a fake wall...

  • The basic issue is with the chart as it is presented. It's fine to grandfather in the vertical arrangement, that's not the issue, it's trying to equate the values to the typical 10 steps. Going from Integrity or any other similar system, the labeling of the steps don't translate to the new values all that tidily. For example, 8 is now Civilization 3 and 1 is Nature 4, but once again the assumed Stability values (8 or 1) aren't correct in telling you how much Stability the Siren actually has, nor what the opposite Civilization or Nature has.

The simple solution is just to remove the...

  • It's been awhile but wanted to say hello again. Still haven't gotten to finishing a Siren scenario nor introduce them in my weekly games (which has plenty too much to work with as is). Still, I'm aiming to make a Siren primer or cheat sheet for future play testing.

I was noticing some recent changes to the drive and I wanted to address the biggest in the thread. Mainly, the change from Lucidity to Stability. (link)

Once I was able to wrap my head around it, this was my question: why is it still set on the vertical 10-point Integrity styled scale?

    As it's...

  • Been away for awhile but nice to see that there's been activity in this thread!

Amazing work that's been going into Genius thus far. I find when looking at any Chronicles/2E project it helps to be able to summarize game mechanics and features down to their core points in order to be able to understand the fundamentals, and then build the lore and characters and fluff to Storyteller and players' delight around that. Cheat-sheets if you will. So after looking at some updates in the drive folder I wanted to ask for clarifications here:

With the change to Impetus, which is...
