Oh I meant on an out of character level, people discussing the game discussing potential character stuff going "Well out of aspect is pretty rare so that might have obvious social implications" with 'pretty rare' being thought to be a lot higher than 40%. Sorry, that was badly phrased on my end....

A line to the effect of that might be good if you don't think it is too prescriptive. I've seen or heard people discussing inheritance like that take the suggestion of impropriety far with out of aspect Exaltation, which is a bit extreme if that's the rule of thumb you had in mind....

  • I am trying very hard to download your (350 page!) work to my phone but drive is not playing nice. If you can would it be forward to ask for a pdf draft upload somewhere? I am very much wanting to look this over again now I have finally run ex3 enough to understand the mechanics....

So where do the Imperial Judges and their courts fit in since I had been imagining a bit of a split there?...

I missed that somewhere, that's pretty radical. Is that out of Lunars or did I miss it somewhere in other published books this edition?...

But on the other hand, there's good stuff too.

I mean, after the first two chapters Infernals was good at least! And Alchemicals and CoCD: Autobot were rock solid, the CoCD was probably my favorite 2e book (which is why I keep hyping it here)....

Elsewhere was a place in 2e. In 3e it is just a place that is Not Here and not deeply defined. I think at your table it could easily be a place if you want but the books so far have not in 3e been keen to draw a hard rule there

You forgot Autochthonia and maybe Zen Mu depending on how you count that one, nd there is a lot going on in these places that the Ex3 core does not really do a deep dive in. Or even mention in the case of Autobot. As well as the overall richness of Creation itself which has plenty of strangeness baked in with elemental demesnes and bizarre sorcerous ruins and all.

You can turn to old 1e and 2e sources on a lot of these places to see some of that nuance and weirdness you were talking about but with the caveat some of it may be heavily being redone this edition by the time we get a...

I think Fire is one where the bad dice rolls might hurt more due to the way it eats motes at first and if those don't go well it is going to take multiple turns of caution to get back to the rhythm it wants you to take, but also lack a lot of good 1 v 1 observation on this. Not all the players in my game are fighters, but enough are that few combats are any single one of them showing up an enemy and the Fire Dragon stylist has only once really botched their initial alpha strike....

What does the domain of a god being rapidly expanded do to the god, in a practical manner? Like the old City God of Deheleshen was driven mad by the fate of his city and the City God of Lookshy is an entirely different entity (who has some kind of relation to him still). But this is an example of reduction of domain and frankly probably a lot of actual trauma, I can't imagine the Raksha were any kinder to gods than mortals.

Say you have a small city which due to a combination of like...a new natural resource find in the hills and a nice gold rush, the opening of a new canal and the...

I finally got a chance to listen and enjoyed it but going to have to challenge the idea brought up with the Temple of the Reverent Whisper. The idea that any Exalted were made from the get to to serve in a perfected First Age society (looking at DB and Lunar representation in 2e specifically) is something 3e is explicitly working to refute rather than just not touching on. They are Exalted and just expressing the themes and power of their patrons in different ways rather than any inherent need to kneel before a shiny golden god-king.

Both their 3e incarnations so far have made a lot...

Since the Balorian Crusade and the early days of the Realm has the Realm Defense Grid ever been fired again, or has it been kept dormant for fear of what overuse might cause damage wise that might be irreparable?

3e makes a point that aside from Martial Arts, charms aren't really codified. Any three Solars might know Monkey Leap Technique but maybe one of them is the sort who likes to codify their tricks with names and it may not even be that, etc.

Does the fact Sidereals have a sharply limited set of magical effects (even if it is larger than past editions) run up against that or does this play into the fact they also have a high percentage of martial artists around ready and willing to slap cool names on codified miracles of essence?...

  • Been running a DB game since basically the mid point of the Kickstarter last year and the key thing I have ready session to session is QC stats (or full sheets if this is someone you care about a lot) for major NPCs and a firm grasp of how to handle these characters when the group inevitably decides to fuck off and do something weird.

I am absolute trash at a sandbox and ask that people sort of meet me in the middle on the idea of a plot though.

I don't disagree with the idea they should get it, but also think the ship has sailed on it representing anything but a fiddly choice because the core book went out of its way to express how Solars have mastery benefits inherently because they just do so damn skilled as an aspect of their existance.

If you must flip a table I can provide a nice one full of glassware that dramatically will crash....
