  • I understand the Street influence part being what he has, but not the things that he can do in that area. You mentioned organizing a protest or finding a cheap source of labor or finding information on people or events. So does this all mean he does something to "scratch the back" of the homeless, like bring them food and blankets (he does that already), and in return they help him out with stuff, like Sherlock Holmes' Baker Street Irregulars?...

  • This is what we were referred to and this is the only information we have about it.
    Influence System

Influence is sway in the mortal world. At most levels, it consists of nudges, greased palms, and a word in the right ear at the right time. In rare cases, exceptionally influential characters may control the levers of power in mortal society. Such masters of manipulation are not to be underestimated. They, in turn, should not underestimate the amount of dedication they must exhibit to maintain their puppet strings.

  • Influence System and Kinfolk: Questions

So, on our board we've been told to use the Influence system with the Kinfolk characters we play, to start currying influence in our fields of interest. We were referred to a description of the Influence system written for vampires, which is fine, but as a new player I am very confused. I asked our STs for clarification and got an answer that was somewhat helpful (a couple examples), but I am still really confused. Can anyone please explain to me how the Influence system works in regards to Kinfolk? I play a Bone Gnawer Kin who already has allies and contacts among the homeless and helps them...

I was under the impression from what I've read that Metis cannot permanently get rid of their deformity in the Flux, that it comes back as soon as they leave that realm. Is this incorrect?

Wow. I am a relatively new WtA player and I know next to nothing about Mage. I had no idea any of this was even possible. I guess even a Metis can dream. ...

Oh, yes, that's right. The store windows and such are why he can't go into the city or even the Kinfolk town. Yes, a stream would be an issue if he and the Mage came upon one (they see each other in the forest in a state park). He'd have to contrive a way to avoid going close enough to the stream to show a reflection....

Yeah, I am still learning the ropes and can be a bit too cautious as a player, which is why he hasn't gotten into a fight with anyone yet. Something to work on and use judiciously. There is a Get of Fenris NPC pack among the other packs at the Sept. He is one of 2 Get of Fenris PCs. So I guess some at the Sept would appreciate some brawling.

As long as she doesn't whip out a mirror on him, I think he's safe for now. :P But could provide some nice drama later.

I will! Thank you everyone for your replies! They were very helpful! :-)

Very well said! It is certainly worth protecting. I keep forgetting I have the "kick ass" option. His deformity is Bestial Reflection, so he reflects his breed form in all reflective surfaces, like glass, so he can't go into the local city and pick up chicks. :P...

I agree with The Laughing Stranger that it makes for an interesting, if potentially dangerous story. So far we've been enjoying writing this story together. the Mage and I. I guess I'll just have to wait and see how things develop. It just seems like a shame that the one thing that the Metis gets to enjoy could kill him or land him in very hot water. Dude can't catch a break, no matter what.

He is an Ahroun. She doesn't seem to be Norse Pagan, more like your standard neopagan/sort of Wiccan/druidic. What do you think about if he learns she is a Mage? Does that make him duty-bound to leave her or else he'd be in major trouble with the other Garou, even if the Mage means no harm to the Garou and the caern?...

So, from what I have read of the history of the area that was posted, the Mages have pretty much stayed out of conflict with the other supernaturals throughout their long history and have until recent times been pretty isolationist. What attacks there have been on the Sept have come from forces of the Wyrm (which are not specified). My character is a relatively new arrival at the Sept and has not really established himself there yet.

I know this will probably sound crazy, but he is Get of Fenris. However, he's not entirely played straight as a Get of Fenris. He is a fierce warrior,...

That is very helpful, thank you! I guess my next question is: If she does reveal that she is a Mage, does he have to then end the relationship since Mages are a potential enemy who can deplete a caern? vs. If he decided to continue the relationship in secret anyway even though he knows she's a Mage, is he just setting himself up for major trouble if the other Garou found out? Just wondering what the repercussions would be. I feel like a Mage isn't on the same level as a vampire, but I am new and I really don't know. Also, just out of curiosity, if he was a Homid Garou, would things be very different...

Thanks! Anyone else want to chime in also? I'm also interested in the question as it applies generally. Has anyone seen cross-genre relationships on their board? How did it work out?
