I read Conquering Heroes, and I didn't see a character named Bonnie Tyler.

What if Lazarus' s faith falters when he sees Jesus crucified, and in the short interval between the Crucifixion and the Resurrection, Cappadocius Embraces him? Just a thought.

Hideamuro : You misread what I said. I theorized that Cappadocius Embraced Lazarus on the night of the Crucifixion, which was a year or two AFTER Jesus raised him from the dead. However, I did not realize Lazarus was such a common name in first-century Palestine. That fact, combined with Lazarus's actions in the Dark Ages: Cappadocian clan novel, makes it more likely than not that the Cappadocian Methuselah Lazarus is NOT the same person as the Lazarus whom Jesus raised from the dead.

    Lazarus

Do you think Lazarus is the same person as the Biblical Lazarus who was raised from the dead by Jesus? Originally, I thought the answer was yes, and I theorized that Cappadocius had Embraced Lazarus on the night of the Crucifixion because he wanted a childe who had truly died and been reborn. However, after reading more about Lazarus and his quest to become a god in the Dark Ages: Cappadocian novel, I'm no longer certain that they are the same person. What do you guys think?

  • Are you implying that Charon is Odysseus? I never thought of that. Do you have any evidence to support that theory?

Legally, it's unlikely David Hill has a case. He did leave on his own, and WWP has the right to hire whoever it wants, even if that person allegedly stalked someone else affiliated with the company. It may not be the wisest move from a liability standpoint, but they do have the right to do that.

I know nothing about this game. What does it offer that is not already subsumed into the Makara splat in Beast? Just wondering.

I would definitely go with Lexi. It's very...vivacious, for lack of a better word.

    Princess: the Hopeful

I just read the rules for Princess: the Hopeful, and I was very impressed. The one thing I was concerned about was the tone. Princess is much brighter than the other Chronicles of Darkness games. On the other hand, I could definitely see a Princess acting as a foil in a darker game such as Vampire: the Requiem. What do you guys think? Any thoughts on Princess, good or bad? Thanks.

  • I'm not sure how close this is to canon, but this is my interpretation: in 1197, the rest of the Order of Hermes discovers that most of the Tremere have been turned into vampires. The Tremere are expelled from the Order of Hermes, with the few non-vampiric magi of House Tremere joining other houses, primarily House Tytalus. A brief war follows, which ends in a stalemate, and the Hermetics and the Tremere basically agree to leave each other alone after that. This is the situation which exists at the start of the Second Massasa War detailed in Blood Treachery.

    I'm curious now; please...

    Demons of Inferno

Is there a canon origin for the demons of Inferno? Are they fallen angels like the Fallen from classic WoD, or do they stem from some other source?

Aleph : I definitely see your point. I would not try a crossover scenario with a group of players I was not familiar with, for exactly the reasons you cite.

In the example I gave, my players were all playing Mage: the Ascension characters who traveled to the planet Aebrinys (the Birthright setting for Dungeons and Dragons). I simply adapted various characters and monsters from Birthright to WoD rules (which I prefer to D&D rules anyway).

    Hope this helps clarify things.

You raise a very good point there. Luckily, my players have all been good friends for years, so I've never really had that problem.

Actually, I have never had this problem in all the years I've been running crossovers, so I really don't get what you mean. In the unlikely event someone tried to turn a Methuselah into a chair, I would simply rule that it didn't work, then let them try and figure out why. If they managed to figure out why it didn't work, AND they were clever enough to find a way around it, AND I felt their characters were powerful enough to actually accomplish this feat (Sphere Level 5 mages, for example), then I would reward their initiative by (gasp!) letting them turn the Methuselah into a chair. PCs are supposed...

  • They may not use the word Invictus, but it's clear they're either talking about the Invictus as a whole or a particular Invictus dynasty.

The rest of that stuff the Storyteller can make up herself (and TFV is strictly a US government agency, not part of NATO). If you were an Invictus elder, wouldn't you want a covert task force that can find and eliminate your enemies for you with minimal danger to the Masquerade? And yes, TFV does a lot of non-vampire stuff. That's the genius of the Invictus plan. If they only use TFV occasionally and discreetly, their enemies will never realize...

    Crossovers

A lot of aesthetic, philosophical and rules-based reasons have been offered by people on this forum as to why crossovers between WoD and other roleplaying games are a bad idea. But what people are ignoring is that crossovers can be FUN, especially if you play fast and loose with the rules. I once ran an adventure crossing over Mage: the Ascension with one of the D&D worlds (Birthright), and my players still remember it fondly 10 years later. Just something to think about.
