  • Except that Cyberpunk releases in 2020
And I have to disagree with the second statement. Last year we've had Disco Elysium, which is easily the best game ever made, and Pathologic 2 which is pretty up there. This year come Cyberpunk, Baldur's Gate 3, Yakuza 7, and Wasteland 3. Next year we'll have Nier Replicant remake, Shin Megami Tensei 5 and who knows what else....

Well yes, I know that Anarchs call their Princes "Barons". My point is that Barons still exist and Anarch clique politics are not particularly different from Camarilla clique politics. It's sort of a natural result of both being small scale might-makes-right structures.

I dunno man. From the material I've seen - a Camarilla Prince depends on the Sheriff and personal connection to the Primogen. And usually comes to power not through status and tradition, but by kicking down the door and eating the previous Prince.

    Dress code (not necessarily...

I see two big issues with these ideas.

    1. Nothing described is Camarilla specific. Sure, maybe this is some in-character hypocrisy, but the suggested approaches to corrupt the Camarilla are exactly applicable to the Anarchs. The Anarch structure is the same. There's also a Baron and enforcers and stuff.
2.How exactly is this supposed to work? "Make it an offence to be insufficiently servile. Always demand that the proper protocol be followed. Argue for a strict interpretation of the Traditions" - who are you and how did you end up in a position of power where you can...

More than this - conspiracy theorist circles are smaller now than ever before. At one point almost 90% of Americans believed that Kennedy Assassination is sketchy and can't be a lone gunman job. We see conspiracy theories as dangerous in the now because we live in the now. But much like with crime - conspiracy theories are on the downturn, but the fear of conspiracy theories is rising.

For the record - QAnon has long since left its birthplace at 4chan. For years now the main QAnon audience are 40+ folks on facebook....

  • Null Zone is both a bullet point on "Secrets of Milwaukee Chantry", and its own loresheet. The Chantry one I linked, and it's just "you know this exists". Gee, thanks.
The Loresheet version is more involved (and tells you what the deal is), but three of its levels are plothooks:
At 2 dots you know Null Zone exists and can briefly enter without being bothered by other factions. This benefit puzzles me. Null Zone is over a public area. Is the implication here that the entire university district being monitored 24/7 by Tremere, Mages, Werewolves and Second Inquisition?...

  • Oh, yeah, that was one confusing bit. Because Book of the Grave War is Carna 5, with fairly beefy benefits. I'm assuming that the missing pages from Mortius' version are crucial enough that you don't get the unbondability benefit of Carna 5. But what do you get? Do you get that Occult auto-success, since you have most of the book? Is it just a plot coupon? In that case fair enough, the rest of the merit still does stuff, so it's fine. Do you get a discount on buying Carna 5 if you have Mortius 5? What's the deal here?...

  • CTPhipps Any thoughts on the Loresheets? I think they are pretty neat overall, except for a number of Loresheets that are just plothooks with no effects. Such as this thing in an otherwise excellent "Milwaukee Chantry":

But the rest of that loresheet is 😗👌. I want to play a thin-blood alchemist squatting in Mortius' house already.
Null Zone is probably my least favourite one. Three plothook levels. Three! At least you can hang out with an evil cult....

Huh. That's a really different read on Pattermuster from what I've got.

    1. Pattermuster doesn't run St.Basil. Yes, he's a vampire in charge of it, but he doesn't actually control it. Head of the hospital is a totally different person, Pattermuster doesn't have a grasp on the general affairs of the hospital, and it all comes back to bite him in the ass when the Second Inquisition takes over.
    2. His desire and ability to help the mortals in St.Basil is questionable. The hospital is certainly run down, and Pattermuster's not really doing anything to fix it. There's a whole drug...

I don't think "Vampire not fully onboard the vampire train" is a viable concept. With the focus on humanity and golconda, tending to mortal issues is valid. A problem I have with the way V5 tackles it is that this is a fairly protagonist-y thing to do. PCs should champion the mortal causes among vampires and challenge the status quo, because PCs are the focal point of the story. Saying "yeah, everyone's already doing it, we've got a Gangrel elder pushing the charge" steals the thunder. Fall into the line, do what the big man Rudi says.

Kinda, but I'll point out that in the modern world electronic surveillance exists and the requirements to use it are on par with the thaumaturgic means.

Personally, I would not let you scry through a note, unless it's like a love letter. Go with something more personal and dramatically significant, instead of rewarding paranoid dumpster diving. Actively recommend the player what to steal for scrying on the Archon, so that they feel rewarding for thinking to use their power, instead of feeling like they've been cockblocked and given unreasonable demands.

    Also as a general...

The sales pitch that Anarchs get Dominate and Presence and then don't abuse it because of their, uhhhh, superior moral fibre I guess, rings false to me.

While anyone could claim membership, there were distinct hacker groups within anonymous that executed actual organized cyberattacks and committed cybercrimes, instead of just walking around with the Guy Fawkes masks and posting on 4chan. Because weirdly enough, it turned out you need planning and leadership and organization for this sort of thing....

Daimoinon 2 is easily as good as Dementation 4. It's an excellent power for non-lethal incapacitation of any enemy, and gets past any fancy soak pools the person might have.
Daimoinon 3 isn't the best source of damage in the game, but it's based on Occult, so you can be a bit less MAD with your skills. And it's great for stealth attacks, because you can sit in the corner and kamehameha for a few turns.
Daimoinon 4 I've never seen used and it honestly seems like a pain in the ass. But throwing an extra combatant into the mix seems decent, and it's excellent for assassinations....

Really, the people were wondering about that as soon as the Baali were introduced. Because when you say that preying on the innocents for personal gain is 👌, vampire business as usual, but preying on the innocents FOR THE GLORY OF SATAN is irredeemable evil, that raises a lot of questions....

  • [Anything] 10 is a plot device that does whatever the GM wants for the story to work. Which, I should note, is also how any level of the elder disciplines works, but let's not talk about that. The only question relevant to the level 10 powers is "Would the story work if it did that?"...
