  • I would actually argue that the primary effect is also way too powerful for a one dot spell. I would actually put it at at least Prime 3, by analogy with Enhance Mind. Just because you "invert" the effect doesn't mean it's going to stay at the same dot.

    Um. What?

Variant 1. Mana travels with you.
If this is the case, then you can perform an oblation/drain artefact/drain a familiar, shift back in time, do it again, shift back and have all the mana before you ever did anything.

Variant 2. Mana doesn't travel back in time. This is explicitly contrary to how Shifting Sands work. But if it wasn't then spending mana and then using Shifting Sands should give mana back. Useful for pumping mana into information gathering spells.

Variant 3. Mana is a cosmic constant and when you Shifting Sands the drained hallow...

Going to talk only about direct methods to get money through magic, because just being better at your job is...

Forces: Matter allows you to control mechanical devices at 1 dots, so it's safe to assume that Forces do the same for electronics at 1-2 dots. So go ask an ATM for some cash.
    Prime: No direct methods
Fate: has a spell that gives you [Potency] Resources
Time: Doesn't give money directly, but allows you to stretch resources indefinitely at 3 dots. Eat a sandwich, shifting sands, eat it again. Refill at a hallow, shifting sands, refill again....

  • I posit that VtM is not a setting where you can tell the stories about uniqueness. The setting is way too much of a kitchen sink for that. There are like 20-ish kinds of vampires in the canon, and more than half of them talk about being rare and mysterious. Meeting a new kind of vampire you've never seen before is not an amazing mindblowing even because there are too many of these snowflakes running around. And even out of the Camarilla clans, it's rather unlikely that all 7 will be present in every city in the world, which means you could plausibly the only vampire of your clan in the city and...

  • Objection!

You want to steal souls - you have to have Death. Of course there could be a Reaper Legacy that doesn't include Death in its attainments and leaves soul harvesting as a free exercise to its members. Some would learn Death and steal souls. Some would break into sanctums and search for soul stones. Some would kidnap mages and torture them until the mage agrees to make a bunch of soul stones....

  • I'd have to say that Cloud Infinite need to be rewritten, as Mind/Death legacy. The Prime thing made absolutely no sense in 1e. Their first Attainment has them using Prime to record data on a physical medium, from writing to hard drives. What does Prime have to do with this? Why is this not Matter or Forces? Their second Attainment is incoherent arble garble and talks about "soul stone that takes the form of an information storage device", whatever this is. But overall it looks to me like a fancy Soul Jar, so that's Death or Spirit. Their third Attainment is remote access to soul stones...

Considering that the mechanics for making Legacies are in the corebook and there's an unspoken expectation fo DIYing all the legacies, having one of the two examples completely abandon those rules is... unfortunate....

started a topic Dark Eras, Nagaraja

    Dark Eras, Nagaraja

I'm trying to puzzle out how the second Nagaraja attainment works.

Soul Jar is a two dot Death spell, meaning there is one free reach. There is no mention of any ritual, so I can only assume reach is spent on instant spellcasting. This is also the only way in which this would synergize with the next attainment - Sever Soul, which doesn't have advanced duration. But it also talks about binding souls to yourself, which is another reach (and requires you to not have a soul). On top of that, reach needs to be spent on advanced duration, or Nagaraja bind souls for glorious...

  • Nothing would change. Everything would change. Being a Tzimisce, or in fact a member of any clan, is not like being a Habsburg or Clinton. It's more like being Polish or Chinese. Being a Tzimisce doesn't entitle you to any castles , business ventures or ancient pacts, being a Tzimisce entitles you to sweet fuck all. Obertus who got embraced by Tzimisce and then embraced a bunch of their cousins and then killed all Tzimisce would just be successful young Tzimisce. As far as other vampires concerned, until they killed the Antideluvian they are not the Obertus clan, they are just the Obertus generation...

  • This argument is silly. You can argue that killing for feeding is bad because it strains the masquerade, breaks mechanics, ruins roleplaying, is not fun, etc. All of these are valid arguments. But "well more blood must equal more sated" is just a non-starter. These are magical undead creatures. They don't digest blood. They are magical. You can make an argument that what sates hunger is the act of feeding and the act of killing, with blood quantities exchanged being negligible. Why not?

I personally don't get why the spotlight on feeding is a thing. When in the last twenty...

  • The "static magic" nonsense is needed for Mage to exist, not the other way around. People who wrote Mage wrote themselves into a corner because the way Consensus and Paradox work, all vampires and werewolves should have vanished long ago. So Mage writers created a cludge of "static magic" that allows supernaturals to exist in the Mage world. If you don't care about Consensus and internal consistensy of Mage setting, then you don't need to care about static anything.

  • It is fairly easy to write what kind of etiquette an 'average' Elysium has. Is it okay to bring weapons or not? Or only up to certain size of weapon? How is the discipline use treated and how is it monitored? If you think that someone's using Presence or Dominate - is there an established mechanism for accusation?
You can consievably describe Elysium rules on a page or so....

  • Here's another option: Saulot is dead. Tremere has successfully diablerized him and got away with it... before going mad from diablerie after-effects and/or magical experiments. Meanwhile Goratrix is slow-rolling a claim that he's the real Tremere in a bid to take over the main clan.

  • No one cares about the Ashirra, and Kindred of the Ebony Kingdom was a tire fire down to the social structures it described. But I see your point, even if I think that you are rashly dismissing second largest country in the world. Especially if we elaborate "India" to "Southern Asia". It's certainly no less important than the middle east.

This weakness is awful. The 6+ version is annoying both in and out of character. What counts as failure to prozelytize? Are Ravnos entering every conversation with "Have you heard about YHVH, our lord and savior"...

  • Oh, it's certainly is a possible explanation, but none of the points you brought up prove anything.

    - Vampires are capable of developing Sanguinary Animism mental disorder, which causes them to believe their victims talk to them through blood. That's your "possessed by those they have Diablerized" covered.
    - Many things can change aura, including altered mental states. Altered aura neither proves nor disproves the soul-sucking theory.
    - Or maybe Caine just didn't want vampires running around eating each other for perfectly mundane reasons.
    - Many people...
