  • This makes sense, as it is explicitly spelled out that if you don't put a correct "price" on things, Wyrd may settle the debt, usually in a way nobody likes....

  • It's not like I knew there would be no answers when I asked, though! ;D

I like to approach things like this from the perspective of writing clear rules that are easily understood by new players, and will make smooth transitions between different tables and groups easy. In the end I can always rule things however I like for my table. That's a foregone conclusion. I just wasn't sure if this Contract was really as wildly unclear and confusing as I thought, or if it was just me.

Considering the responses, I think it's fair to say it's not me. ^^ People can't even say for...

  • I don't see how this is an answer to the question of whether or not the "flavour" actually fits the mechanical repercussions?

I guess the main question that remains with that is whether or not that is underwhelming for a Royal Contract, and I might agree with Tessie that it is.

If it cuts in half extended actions, it should cut in half the time it takes to navigate to somewhere, too. As that is nothing but essentially a contest of extended actions in the Hedge. Yet, it doesn't for some odd reason. And if you let it do it, there's also a lot of oddities there,...

  • But it sounds like those mechanics are pretty detached from the explanation of "speeding up or slowing down time", doesn't it? It just doesn't mesh very well. By that explanation, slowing the group down has no effect on how fast you get there, since the Edge/amount of successes required stays the same, and you're hanging the entire "speed of travel" part off of that mechanical aspect.

Considering the fact that there's rules written for how to break free of the Contract if you're unwilling, it sounds like there should be a significant detrimental aspect to it when...

  • So it's only personal time, and unlinked from "world time"? If you're travelling somewhere and use it on yourself, you can't use it to get there faster than you normally would?

(As an aside, it'd be ironic if it turns out the main use for/most potent use of a Contract that keeps speaking of journeys is to be staying in place to heal faster. xD)...

  • How does the Flickering Hours contract actually work? What does it do exactly? What does it look like to other characters when they run into someone under the effect of the Contract? Does it have any effect on chases outside of the Fleet of Foot merit and the edge? If so, what effect does it have? If not, why not, it specifically points out being able to use it on people chasing you so it feels like it should? Yet there is no listed chase effect for having your time slowed, only one for having it sped up.

I'm assuming that speeding yourself up by a factor of 2 while slowing someone...
