  • There's some obvious problems with the hearts/bastions, but I'd resolve them by saying that the heart resides in the subconcious of the human, which becomes accessible when they dream through the Bastion, or something like that....

Won't quote the entire post as it'd get too long, but:

That's absolutely fair. I just want to make clear to those reading this thread that CtL 2E is absolutely a great game for playing Changelings, by pointing out that your main problem with it is that it assumes you want to play a Changeling, when you personally don't. :P
There's nothing wrong with wanting to play different types of Fae, but it's not strange that the splat doesn't cater to it in its opening book.

To me, the human baggage is the best part. So much so that I like to play a session with...

At some level, it just doesn't make sense for the central beings of a gameline that is based on oaths and Contracts to not be able to be pinned down on some level. Their power is based on Contracts, so somewhere, at some level, there's going to be a Contract you can try to unravel to fight them. At some point they made a deal and you can't un-make it for the sake of being "oh-so-random".

That does not make the beings themselves more predictable, though. It just gives them weaknesses. And weaknesses are interesting, Superman is interesting to many people not because he's...

  • I think the most important thing you can be "missing" in this discussion is that the "7 dice vs 2 times 5 dice" is illusionary. You're not lowering your chances by using teamwork, because that's the only option there is. The "two times 5" option doesn't exist. The teamwork rules are as they are to ensure that a few people "helping" one another doesn't produce results that skew the values inherent to the system by too much.

It's essentially a non-choice, as you're expected to use the Teamwork rules whenever possible. The players shouldn't be...

Might it not be easier then to give them Influences like Ghosts? Since those already work quite a bit like this. (See p. 248 for the Hedge Ghost version.)

Just give them a bit more leeway and let them have "weird" Influences, and there you go.

  • It can summon literal earthquakes, supposedly even there where earthquakes don't generally occur. So I don't think there's necessarily a thematic problem. But rules-wise I can see two problems:
    - There is no "Storm" tilt. You need to combine Heavy Winds and Heavy Rain... and then you still don't have lightning. But maybe if it's only lightning, though you'll need to make a new tilt for it.
    - There's an Autumn contract that summons a storm that also zaps people with lightning. It would suck for them if you could just do the same with Elemental Fury. So make sure it's not just...

  • I would rule it as a normal child with a minor fae "tell". For instance, the child of an air elemental changeling may occasionally have their wind blow in the wrong direction. But nothing else.

replied to Willy Wonka as a Changeling
I can't see Willy Wonka as anything but a True Fae, myself!

He has an impossibly large and multi-floored factory as his arcadian domain, a bunch of oompa-loompa hobgoblins, and a whole bunch of children who end up in his realm leave again... changed. Trying to find a successor might seem un-True Fae like, but that's also what Sheogorath does in the Oblivion DLC "The Shivering Isles", and he's a Keeper if ever there was one. ^^

Back to the topic at hand: For Kith, why not "Artist"? Works perfectly. Food is his art....

  • Personally I rule that a Fetch's "Mask" is simply stronger before the Changeling escapes. When the Changeling comes back, there being two of them in Ironsides weakens the claim the Fetch has over that identity and allows anyone who can see past the Mask to see it for what it is. The Fetch only realises it is a fetch generally after the Changeling escapes, so this makes sense to me and smooths over all possible weird cases.

At the very least it satisfies all the criteria Satchel listed as being integral to the Fetch myth.

Aside from the "Fetches as measuring...
