  • I don't have much in the way of Creationlikes, at least not for games built around "default" creation, but I'm curious to hear about some of yours....

I agree. If a mechanic like that is going to be included, it should be used for some dramatic purpose. Personally, I've never much enjoyed Arcane Fate, as it seems aggravating to deal with unless Sidereal PCs ONLY work with other Sids or within Yu-Shan....

Well, I hadn't planned to include Infernals, but I'm curious to see what you've got, so go ahead! And thanks!

Also, I found an alternative for demon-summoning that I think fits the shard better than Autochthonian machine-summoning!

    Gaia, the Shattered Mother:
When Gaia interposed herself between Creation and the dying sun, she saved the world from certain destruction, but only at great personal cost. Many of Gaia's souls were damaged, others destroyed outright, and the resulting spiritual wound has left the primordial weakened. Gaia's humaniform Jouten wanders the...

    Uranus, the Maiden of Wisdom:
Uranus is at once the least and the greatest of the Maidens. Her own personal power makes her the weakest among the Incarna, yet her sisters rarely act without consulting her. Her gift is to temper the abilities of her sisters, guiding their purpose, and restraining them when necessary. When her sisters wonder if they can perform some great deed, Uranus counsels them to consider if they should. It was her Sidereals, the Chosen of Wisdom, that discovered the Great Curse placed by the dying Primordials, and Uranus herself was central in unraveling that dreadful...

Hmm... Not sure I want to heavy of an Autochthonian involvement in this particular Shard, at least by default, but that is a very interesting idea! Perhaps as a possible campaign, reestablishing contact with Autochthon to gain access to his knowledge and the aforementioned spirits!

Uranus is not the Yellow Star, she has been present along with her sisters since the beginning. I'll be giving her a write-up soon, and I'll get to the nature of the Yellow Star in time.

The population is quite a bit smaller than canon Creation, especially the regions beyond...

Autocthonia has a soundtrack. There are hidden speakers everywhere, that constantly emit music and noise from Autocthon's dreams. Usually it's very low volume, and rather ambient, so most natives don't notice it. However, if large amounts of Essence are being spent, such as a battle involving Alchemicals, some part of the sleeping primordial notices, resulting in the music getting louder and shifting in tone to match the situation.

    Endless Night: Lunars

    The Stewards, Chosen of Artemis:
Artemis chooses her Stewards from those that possess a fierce protective instinct, skill at survival in the darkened wilds, and capacity to work alone or as a group as the situation demands. Above all, however, the Stewards are chosen from those that rise to perform heroic deeds, for they are the frontline of Creation's defense.
Example Stewards: Lillith, Tamuz, Sha'a Oka, Magnificent Jaguar.
Note: The Stewards most closely resemble 2e Lunars in the powers they possess, although they find themselves...

Interesting! I like those a lot!

Thanks! I'm sorry that others weren't as receptive. Was that back in the 2e days, when the Exaltations were kinda portrayed as autonomous greatness-seeking missiles?

I had similar thoughts! I figure most of the Solar-aspected Manses in Creation are at sights where sun-shards impacted. I have some special plans for one such site, that I'll detail in a later post!...

I've thought about that a bit. The overwhelming geomantic fecundity of the Elemental Pole of Wood kept the far east alive, and plants began to develop there that didn't require sunlight to survive. The Deliberative transplanted those around Creation to support life elsewhere. In the meantime, they sustained life in pockets around remaining Solar-aspected Manses that had been modified to provide natural sunlight over limited areas. Another side effect of the eternal night was that a whole bunch of plants and animals have developed bioluminescent qualities.

    Thanks!...

The Balorian Crusade and Great Contagion are going to be replaced by a different set of calamities in this shard, I'm just not quite sure on the details yet. As for why there are no Infernals, all of the Primordials aside from Gaia and Autocthon were killed, resulting in no Yozis, but a lot more Neverborn.

Also, because most Solars never reached the height of their power, and stopped reincarnating after the death of UC, there are beings called Deathlords, but their nature is different....

started a topic Shard: Endless Night

    Shard: Endless Night

A concept for a shard came to me a couple days ago while I was taking a walk, and thought I'd share.

    The Primordial War:
The Primordial War began in much the same fashion as in the Creation we know. The Gods rebelled against their creators, and Exalted mortal heroes to serve as their champions. Just as in the creation we know, the Gods and their Chosen prevailed, conquering the creators of the world. The differences include an additional Maiden, Uranus, Maiden of Wisdom, and the events the occurred on the final day of the Primordial War.

    The Last Day Catac...

  • All right, in my personal headcanon, there are somewhere between 550 million to 1.5 billion people alive at any given time. The number can swing up when harvests are good and major civilizations have a fragile peace. The number swings down during years of famine or during major wars and disasters.

Edit: This counts beastmen, wyld barbarians that still have human souls, and any humans not dwelling in creation proper....

  • This, honestly. I don't think Creation *can* have an exact, or even approximate population count, simply do to how many parts of the map have been left open for the ST to play with.
Now, that said, you *could* come up with population counts for individual regions fairly easily, if it matters to your game.

As for realism regarding population size, I don't see that as too much of a concern, in my own opinion. Creation isn't an overly realistic setting....

  • Dracula as portrayed in the Castlevania netlfix series would be a great Deathlord, or perhaps a second/third circle demon. Castlevania itself makes a great Manse.

Yeah, Tyrant Lizard based, and Earth Path aligned. It just struck me as odd that we had breeds resembling raptors, pterodactyls, Ankylosaur-Triceratops hybrids, and prehistoric oceanic predators, but none resembled the T-Rex....

Headcanon: There was a fifth breed of Dragon Kings that are now almost entirely lost. They were native to the Blessed Isle, and were almost completely wiped out during the Usurpation when they refused to betray the Solars. 12 survive in stasis chambers beneath the ruins of Meru, and a small handful of others are in stasis elsewhere in creation. Interestingly, although then now number the fewest of all Dragon King breeds, they never experienced the soul-destroying effects of the Wyld invasion. If the survivors were to reawaken and reunite, they could potentially become...

Also, great job at a Deathlord motivation beyond "Arrrgh, destroy the world!"...
