I think we also all forgot about Orpheus Group (now Lazarus Redux, once JDG Cryogenics), Terrel & Squib and NextWorld. I think that they all could compete with Pentex on many fields (especially because Pentex once had Giovanni vampire among board of directors and, in turn, Orpheus had someone with experience at Magadon among their high ranking workers; I don't recall the name). And of course Shadowlands has so big potential to corrupt.

There's also Hermetic Society of Swift Light, a corax owned courier firm. If you are really in need, you can check character templates from tribebooks/clanbooks/breedbooks...

    1. The thing is that Pentex is composed of about 30 lesser companies many of which in turn are composed of lesser companies. If one gets into trouble the rest will propably help it. They can be hurt (in White Wolf Magazine #39 was an adventure Night of Rage during which a Magadon factory could be destroyed), they can be caught doing something PROPABLY illegal (in Project Twilight adventure a young chemistry student is mentioned; he found some strange formulas in some of Pangloss products). I think that some parts of Pentex could be even brought down only to be acquired by other Pentex companies...

I played Wayward long time ago. The rest I know I find in trailers, cutscenes, walkthroughs etc. I choose Chicago area because I find it very interesting in real life and canon WW materials as well.

On some level Corday Records, a Toreador (propably) owned, Boston (propably) based recording company (from Vampire Storyteller's Screen 2nd edition) could be a rival to Registered Artist Worldwide (from Freak Legions).

100% agree. In my games Pentex is almost unbeatable because basically it doesn't do anything evil. Of course it could even loose financially to hurt Mother Gaia (they will compensate the losses by using it's factories in Scar) but they cannot be accused of any wrongdoings. P. ex. some Pentex company has 3 times bigger car park than the others from this area (the production building is the same prefabricated ugly cube their competitors use only the car park is bigger). Why you ask? You propably know that many firms have transport fleet for their employees (buses etc.). Some other promote carpooling....

  • You should look at Peak District. My sister's husband took me there once and I loved it (but I'm a Werewolf fan). I don't know much about it but it's so beautifully inspiring.

I would like to know more about your vision of these times. Currently I try to run a campaign set in this region. It's basically Changeling/Werewolf crossover. I set it in Ashcroft (yup, the same that was the stage of H:tR video games) in mid 1982 with some of my personal additions. I just love the story of this s**thole: established in 1827. In 1865 one hundred of workers were trapped and died in the coalmine. In 1912 35 children dissapeared and only partial remains of 5 of them was ever discovered. In 1946 vampires move to the local prison (so I assume that execution of Arkady was in 1996-98,...

  • I believe it's because mobster is a ruthless killer but not a murderer. He kills only if he has to (too much killing would be bad for business). Also, as a capo he don't have to kill personally. He just orders it. I think it's easier to deal with the consequences than aktualny seeing a corpse, smeared brain on the wall or crying victim's family.
On the other hand skinhead kills (if he really kills and not just beat it maim) personally. And he does so for ideology (which is, IMHO, a harder to explain and accept than business).
That's why I think mobster has higher humanity. I think...

  • "example conversation:

Alan mused, "Is it normal you embraced me on a whim?"

"Oh, it was no whim, my boy. I'd followed your progress for years", said Bob as he leafed through the mail.

"For years?", asked an astonished Alan.

"Indeed, remember the time your computing machine vanished? That was I. Read the contents learning about you. Quite proud I was, too. How modern I had grown!"

"What? I almost got fired for that!"

"Pish tosh. I would never have allowed that",...

  • Spoiler alert

True to the bone. It's a leitmotiv of almost every published story:

Blood Nativity - characters Embraced against the will of Prince.
Alien Hunger - characters Embraced against the will of Prince.
Forged by Steel - characters Embraced against the will of Prince (technically, they traveled to Gary cause Lodin/their nominal Prince...
