    What breaks if I allow kiais from Silver-Voiced Nightingale style to be used in Close range in conjuction with unarmed martial arts charms?

    I know that this might be difficult to answer, but Silver-Voiced Nightingale doesn't look so balanced around exclusive weapon as, say, Righteous Devil.

    Are kiais from Slver-Voiced Nightingale Stye compatible with martial arts which use unarmed attacks?

    If not, will things break terribly if I allow combining it with unarmed-compatible martial arts?

    Is it written anywhere that 5 is actually a cap for difficulties? It just doesn't go above that in the explanation of what difficulties to set. Of course, it is written so in order to discourage people from using higher difficulties. However, there is a number of rolls against a static value whose difficulty explicitly goes above 5, notably Feats of Strength,

    I would just go for a higher difficulty, if inclined to do so. I essentially read the scale 1-5 in difficulty as a warning against inflation, not hard-and-fast rule....

    Out of curiosity: why? (Seriously, it's not meant to be provocative.)

    For me, it's an example of good world-building for a game like this: some very evocative way for leaving potentially infinite possibilities while not over-explaining things.

    Personally, I have a sweet-spot for the trope of "there's even more to this", where frames of the world sketched so far actually turn out to be part of even stranger and greater cosmology.

    Of course, sometimes it doesn't fit or is plainly goofy. It wouldn't fit Middle Earth. But for Exalted this dash of silver-age...

    Actually, to me 1e text says almost explicitly that:
    - Well of Udr leads to Labirynth (this is completely explicit);
    - There are other universes (Dowager "learned" this; the choice of the word seems to strongly imply that she was actually right about it);
    - The Well doesn't lead to the these universes (the text says that Dowager is wrong about possibility of escape, but this is vague. Maybe she just won't make it before it's too late or will be chased afterwards).

    But yes, is appears that there were two different ideas of what Well of Udr should be and...

    After reading a question in "Ask the Devs" thread, I read what 1e Abyssals says about the Well of Udr.

    Well, it explicitly says that it leads to Labirynth, actually twice.

    It says that Dowager "learned about other Universes" and that she thinks that the Well leads somewhere and plans to escape there. The book says that in that hope, she's wrong.

    I have two questions:

    1. I read here and there on forums and wikies that the Well is a crossroads between worlds. Nothing in 1e Abyssals indicates that, quite to the contrary. Is...

    I think that RAI it doesn't cover all beliefs. What would be a relevant intimacy here: Major Principle: "That random dude over there is totally a messenger. Nothing suspicious at all"? It should be Major, since giving a letter is a big deal.

    This has very strange consequences. How would you then model, when the prince tells the officer "No, I don't know her "? Is it another social action? Under the assumptions that "She's a messenger" is a principle, that automatically destroys a principle and completely bypasses the rest of the system....

    Dice pools for lying

    I know that this topic appeared at least a couple of times, but I am not sure whether it's been systematically discussed, so I'm opening the thread.

    One of glaring omissions, almost surely intentional, is that there no skill responsible for lying and deception. In some cases, this can be reasonably represented by using standard social system framework. However, the whole system does seem to be aimed towards representing genuine persuasion.

    So let's look at some example of "pure lying": a character pretends that she is a messenger which was supposed to take an...

    Actually my intent was that it works exactly like Rush au rebours: it doesn't consume your move action, but id doesn't actually make you move either. It allows you to automatically keep distance to given enemies if they move by one range band on their turn.

    I knew that "kiting" was the primary source of concern, but as far as understand, RAW there is no option to reliably increase your distance to enemies which want to prevent it (you move, they move and rush. If they fail, yo are still at the same distance). This wouldn't still make kiting an unbeatable tactic, since you...

    What breaks if I allow making disengage actions when not in close distance with Dexterity + Athletics opposed roll? Essentially, if I allow rush actions to allow you keep distance from someone.

    Thank you!

    A quick follow-up: which version of Well of Udr is closest to 3e canon:

    a) Well of Udr leads into Oblivion.
    b) Well of Udr is a crossroads of worlds.
    c) Well of Udr leads into something else entirely.
    d) Who knows/ there is no canon version.

    I understand if you would prefer to avoid a definite answer.

    Second question: do you have any plans for new weird locales like Zen-Mu?...
