  • Thank you all for your answers!

Well, it can be argued that robots don't really have a mind, they have a pregenerated array of answers to perform when the specified prerequisites apply without cognition, hence the question. But i get the spirit of your answer, thank you lnodiv!...

  • Incidentally, Mind Question:

Would you allow Mind Magic to detect and act upon robots? I am currently accepting it when used on Demons and Angels (which are somewhat that), but i'm not sure of it when it comes to work with lesser machines, Terminator-like, other the God Machine servants, low grade AIs etc.

  • Actually... yes. I'm struggling with Concealment Magic in general. In that particular case, which Active Mage Sight would be fooled? Each time i want to consider these spells, i come out with a headache. I'll elaborate a bit:

    - Life could pierce through it, Mind also,
    - Forces... too, i guess? As the mage is using Forces to make herself invisible, that very use of the Arcana should be detectable by another Forces-savvy mage, right?
    - Matter could pick up the subtle movement of air in her breathing, so maybe, on an exceptional success? (Also, it coud detect her outfit,...

While it sounds wise, id refrain to do it, or at least to do it completely (for instance, you could remove the Owl eyes... but when you go into frenzy they return for all to see) as is one of the Strix coolest hallmarks. I like it too much to erase it. But yes, it sounds like something important to do....

  • Thank you for the quick answer Mrmdubois! So you can make a Legacy Attainment indefinite using just the same rules that spells use. Well, that's a worthy Mana point, that's for sure!

But wait, here's another related question: Why is it necessary to change its Primary Factor to Duration? I mean, let's take Read the Depths. This spell (Mind •••) has Potency as a primary factor. As i understand it, you could simply leave Potency, and spend the 2 Reach and the Mana point in making it Indefinite. Am i wrong?

  • Question, about Legacy Attainments:

How do you make them Indefinite? ( And by the way, could it be called "Lasting"?) A spell requires 2 reach and a Mana point, but how do you do it in a Legacy Attainment? I was thinking something along the line of spending a Willpower dot, but... well, how would you do it?

  • Question: In the Rote "Shapechanging", the spell's primary factor is Duration. Does that means that the transformation lasts only for the number of turns specified in pg. 113, if no Reach is spent in upgrading the duration to Advanced? I had always assumed that once the spell had effect, the new body was a Lasting effect.

The reason i ask is because i'm trying to include the Rote as a Legacy Attainment, and i'm having this problem in which i have to choose between the transformation being instant or having to be recasted once every [insert low number here] turns, which seems...

They are most definitely appearing. They will be there, doing their own thing, not being openly aggresive towards the characters, or the Mages in general. But they will be doing something, and sure as hell they won't appreciate anyone bothering with their purpose. Having the ambivalent group of inquisitive players i have, i'm almost sure they will poke them. On what terms, though, i'm not sure at all!

Sooooo my number is up for being the Storyteller in my gaming group, and i'm going to tie the game to Salamanca and its Mage setting.

The Sundered World was one of my absolutely favourite Dark Eras, and between that and those little wonderful Puertas Efímeras of the city, i'm going full yolo. Salamanca and its outskirts (using it in a country scale) are famous among other things for the Verracos (pre-romanic stone sculptures of diverse animals, from boars to bulls) and the sity shield itself has a bull in it, as they were and still are a really important part of the economy in this...

  • Explanation required: Mind-altering Legacy Attainments.

So, i'm having some problems understanding some of the effects that Legacy Attainments have. Specifically, those associated with Mind. In the book explains clearly how the fire from a Forces-based Attainment is no different, once released, than any other fire. Therefore, it can be extinguished with magic, water, or whatever means we have at hand.

Extrapolating it to Mind effects -for example, the Bearer's of the Eternal Voice memory warping Attainment-, how would it exactly work? I mean, one thing that changed from 1E is that now the effect does not automatically happens (it was kind...
