I'm with Wyrdhamster in that, though. I like to have my NPCs stated and fully (moooore or less) fleshed. If i'm pressed, i could make some changes before the PCs divine their strengths and weaknesses, but i don't like it. It's easy to come with an explanation about why that NPC could do that thing he is not supposed to, yes, but that's the easy way (unless said deviation has been thought as intentional, in which case is all part of the plot of course!).

Anyway, there are plenty of solutions to these problems, and most of them start -or end- involving other Mages in those scenes too:...

Actually yes, and sorry! My english is getting worse by the day, i swear. What i meant with that last paragraph was: play with the alien nature of a Spirit Temple. Maybe the spirit cannot think in human therms. Maybe when they ask it to let them travel to its core -the Inner Sanctum so to speak- the only way it can help the players is providing them with a spiritual test, making them travel into the Shadow as a way of enlightment.

I mean, this is the Spirit of an Archmage temple: at its core is the feeling of trascendence. Maybe it really cannot help anyone to travel trough its corridors;...

So... well, i'd say they could go and awaken the Spirit Temple (if that's even possible, as the temple could be the Archmaster Golden Road Itself, so there's no real temple to awaken, it would be in fact the Archmage soul), but NOT a wall of it, dammit :'D

If they are so... "bold" (the pronunciation goes much more close to foolish) to awaken the Spirit of an Archmage temple, why on Earth they should be able to control it? Not only because they have no Thyrsus, but also because of the sheer power of the building. Even in the case that you feel compelled to let them control...

I was just re-reading this thread, and had to ask. Have you actually written a detailed description of this Legacy? I cannot stress enough how much i would absolute love reading it....

  • While i loved the concept at first, the more i think about all the specifics the less i like it, One thing in particulars bothers me: perfect blood wouldn't be addictive, would it? How do you explain that property?

I could see it being addictive in the way that would be exhilarating to have it, or to develope some kind of dependence, but that feeling of warped love... i don't think so? The feeling about it is that vampiric Vitae is something... tainted. I would not have that association with perfected blood....

I'd argue, however, that the irony of one of them masquerading as a Lancea BIshop is too good to pass upon. Like Renatus from Requiem for Rome, the situation's interest, the potential gains and the sheer excitedness outweight the danger of doing so by far. After all, they are Gods with a "secured respawn". Why would they fear the petty consequences of risking the Lancea's wrath? I say go for it and enjoy every second.

PS. Awesome bloodline conversion, Haberdarser! Congrats!...

  • Completely agree with everything Watcher said. Scion 1st Ed, though an amazing and superfun game, it was pure nonsense when it came to the rules. I do have, however, one suggestion to make, taking into account those players of yours: face them against an enemy group composed by the usual 3-4 bulking, resilient monsters, and another 3-4 lean creatures... all of them possesing Overt Order and Serpent's Gaze. Play by their rules, make them experience the fun....
