I haven't read the whole book yet, but I think the vampire population is declining quite a bit in many places because of the Second Inquisition. Also, I haven't found any indication of numbers similar of those in previous editions.

  • I do not know if you'll read, but ...

There are several people here in the forum who liked V5 and are discussing the pros and cons without problems. Just take a look at the other topics. It turns out that you do not accept contrary opinion and have attacked everyone who disagrees with you.

I've said several times that there are several ideas in V5 that I liked. I just wish they had a different approach about the execution of those ideas....

Although I rarely use all the space on the second page, I think that Domain and Shared Backgrounds could be in a third page or something like that. Some players may want to use the space of the current sheets....

  • Every RPG can have their own House Rules. The existence or not of house rules does not necessarily make a system bad. Even in my favorite systems I use some modifications. But this is not the point. If some system practically forces you to use house rules often, then something is wrong. Just look at the Lord of the Rings RPG using the CODA System. The books has plenty of god ideas and I still have everything that came out here. But the execution was bad. To be playable, He needed so many house rules that it was not worth the effort in the end. Even the book say that you need to ignore the rules...

  • Zero impact? What about page 197, in Second Edition? Or page 228 in Revised? Or page 260 and 298 in V20? oVTM has rules for Hunger that cause some impact in play. Could be better? Yes. The impact isn't that significant compared to V5. But isn't 0....

  • He is not being that exaggerated. The current V5 rules about Hunger affects almost every dice you roll.

And can you please stop being so aggressive in your comments?...

  • There are people here saying "Oh, finally we have rules for hunger!" or "VTM never had rules for that!". Except that, yes, there was. Page 197, 2E. Page 228 in Revised. Page 260 and 298 in V20. So, all this "Oh, finally we have rules for hunger" isn't really like that. The rules have always been there. If no one used the problem maybe it was not from the system. It could be better? Yes, it could. But did not have to throw away all the Blood Pool rules for that. You could add something similar above those rules.

Again, I like the idea behind the new Hunger...

  • For me, neither V20 ou V5 has a good approach for variable morality and convictions. The traditional Humanity system doesn't handle well different beliefs. It doesn't matter what your character believe, the Humanity system punish you from your actions. That's why I like systems like GURPS: your advantages and disadvantages helps you to define your own morality. But back to VTM... I like the idea behind the new Humanity system. I mean, its flexible because you can define different Tenets for your Campaing, you don't have to follow a strict christian morality. I just don't like the interations between...

  • Yes, but with the Paths of Enlightenment it was very very different thing. Is not the same struggles at all.

Here some examples. Just read it:

Is really not the same struggles at all.

  • Again: I like the idea behind new The Hunger rules. I really do. And as far I can see, many here as similar feelings too. There are many other things that people here like the idea behind it... but dislike the way the WW implemented such ideas.

I've never been against changes. I like to test new things, new designs. That's why I buy many other RPGs, to see new things. But that does not mean that I have to agree to all the changes they propose. That's why many here have compared with D&D 4E: because some times the changes are not that appealing. But can be, like those changes...

  • Yet, not all the vampires are like Young Louis. Again, some players just want to be Lestat.

No one said that it doesn't belong to VTM. The problem for some here is not the idea behind the rules. Is the execution.

Again, there are other vampires beyond Young Louis. This struggle was generally a theme for neonates, but ancillae and elders was usually beyond that fase. This is Camarailla. In Sabbat this struggle was long gone. They embrace their monster inside, at least in some ways....

  • Maybe because we had 875451584548945 other books aside the core one that focus on other themes? Undead Rabbit list shows that. So, is not the people here that reduce the "main" focus of the game. Old White Wolf did that by herself. Just read the suplements.

Because not all players want to play the young Louis forever. And at least in the past, White Wolf knew that. They wrote many many books where this personal struggle was not the main focus of the game.

Just to be clear: personally, I like this theme. I like the personal horror from young Louis....

  • I don't know what is worse: have to pay all the books for have all the clans or see the same information again in multiple books (let's say: the same Lasombra info in both Chicago by Night AND Sabbat Handbook)....

  • For me, I think that V5 in general has potential, but with every positive change that I see, there are several other changes that need improvement. There are many good ideas with poor execution. So far, the whole system deserved a great revision, maybe moving toward a "5.5 Edition".

And about metaplot... well, I think I'll wait for other books to come out, because I still do not have an opinion about it. I mean, so far, I haven't really enjoyed the execution of the metaplot's ideas either, but they may be better explained or explored later.

Yes, I think it does. But I'm not 100% sure what happen if the vampire is Thin-Blooded (because they don't usually have Disciplines that way)....

  • It was not necessarily widespread, but it was still a "cultural" thing. I was a teen back then and I remember that there were movies, books, etc. about it. Some of them based in the Nostradamus prediction. Both VTM and WTA was based in that fear. But the "zeitgeist thing" was not just about that, of course. There were many elements in the game that was tied to the zeitgeist of the 80s and 90s: the fashion, the gothic/punk movement, the pessimism, the violence... you can see this zeitgeist even in comics sometimes, like Frank Miller's Dark Knight and many others Batman's comics...

  • Actually, they get it from the zeitgeist of the end of the 20th century. Back then, the world ending at the turn of the millennium was a common trope and fear. Some people even committed suicide near the turn of the century, fearing the end of the world. Vampire The Masquerade back then was about that fear, in a sense. The whole game was about the zeitgeist of the 80s and 90s, and that's why today may feel outdated or anachronistic. Of the 3 "20" books I read, the one that most discusses this is M20. The book admits that times have changed and that the STs needs to choose whether to...

Predator type Cleaver says you get 1-dot Dark Secret Flaw: Cleaver, but under Dark Secret, being a Cleaver is a 2-dot flaw. Is this an error, or does this mean if you pick this Predator type, it carries a reduced severity?

I din't mean to be rude or anything! I just use the "shitty" before Blade just to make sure that my comprehension of the text was right. Actually, I can think in many in many interesting Thin-Blooded characters with different Merits combinations, even if they are weaker than other vampires! That being said, I agree with everything you said.

And sorry for any english mistakes...
