  • Diane will make a flurry of quick jabs and slashes at the beast's head and neck. Her attacks are not intended to cause damage, but to distract. To get the beast to focus on her, leaving Laughter the freedom to set up a killing blow. That was the way the Vicriuth fought the beasts that invaded their lands from the Wyld. Strike in teams. One getherin draws the attention, another attacks while distracted. Keep shuffling the focus, making for lethal blows while the beast's attention is away...

This is not a beast from the Wyld, nor is Laughter one of the tea-eaters. But the same principles...

  • Diane will wait until Lessons et al have gotten a ways ahead, and then will follow, leaping overboard on the opposite side of the ship from the Trireme.

She gets 1 success to track, should that be necessary. 3 successes to keep to hidden while following.

  • Oh, well that's easy. In brief:

The Immortal Archen is a small, chicken-sized proto-bird, more similar to a feathered lizard than a true avian. They are largely incapable of true flight, instead using their wing-like arms to glide between the densely packed trees of their far-eastern home. They are skilled climbers and are adaptable omnivores, both hunting small birds and rodents and consuming the wide variety of fruit found in the Far East. Their moniker is not literal, but they are extremely hard to kill. Immortal Archens can regrow entire limbs and, if eaten whole, it is even possible...

[White Elephant] For Colapso: Polestar Wolf Style

Merry Belated Christmas, Colapso! My apologies for the lateness, I bit off a bit more than I could chew with this project, trying to make all Five Directional Animal Styles, but I just couldn't get the other four to work to my satisfaction.

Also, my thanks to Dietaku, for the original concept of the Five Directional Animal Styles, Peerless Ocelot and Towering Falcon.

    Now, without further ado...

    Polestar Wolf Style

Centuries ago, in the setting days of the First Age, the Dawn-caste Towering Falcon looked out upon the state of Creation. He looked

  • Frustrated that no one seems to want to help her butcher her kill, Diane sets about gutting and butchering the porpoise with practiced precision. "Mejan Flesh-Weaver is one of them Ogre 'Nathemas. When the Forsaken Odal Thousand Fangs attacked Novalesk, my people came to our cousins' aid. But the Ordon, they attacked us, thinking we would be weak with so much of our forces abroad. Mejan Flesh-Weaver came to our aid, Ceryd alone knows why. He called up an army of beasts and kept the Ordon and their metal-men at bay until we returned to push the interlopers from our lands."

  • Diane gives Essen an appraising look, "Ah, that explains the blue rings, eh? So do you know Mejan Flesh-Weaver? He's had dealings with my people form time to time. Made a bit of an impression."

She turns to Laughter, pointing accusatorily, "Dinae you take that tone wi' me. Squirrels is right deadly buggers. Fell beasts that was birthed from the blackest depths of the far-away. And Octopusses are just as bad. Dead cunning, slippery little buggers. Just when you think you've got 'em pinned... ZOOM! They slip through ya fingers and take one of them with 'em!"

  • "Octopuses?" Diane seethes, "They're like the squirrels of the deep. Foul abominations, birthed from the mind of something too mad for man to comprehend."

Diane shudders as she continues, "Much like the foul squirrel, you must trap the octopus were it has no method of escape; a cave, or hole in the ground. One you do, you trap it with nests, and then stab with spears until the foul beast beats its last. Finally, you cook it in oil, with bit of vinegar and citrus, for until it has been burned and consumed, you can never truly know it hasn't survived.&quo...
