Okay. After all the debates, the shifting of interpretations (including by me), and Eddy’s post that the devs will go take another look at clarifying exactly how Scale works, here’s how I’m going to implement it in my games. This might not be precisely how the final official version will look, but I think it’s a sensible approach.

    1. As a blanket rule, psions don’t apply Scale in most situations. When up against humans or human-type problems, they just use the normal (non-Scale enhanced) rules.
    2. When psions are in situations where they’re competing against a lower...

  • True. And I’m not saying it’s not Luna, I just like Uratha faith to have some faith element to it....

  • No, that’s an assumption. Cahalith and other Uratha get omens and dreams that they take on faith as being from her. There’s no independent proof this is the case. Could be powerful Rank 6+ Lunes just injecting shit into Uratha heads to perpetuate the cult....

  • Sorry Ben Linus, but right here you’re just trying to shift goalposts and bring real world definitions into a debate that you helped define as game world related. Various people have rather politely pointed out the facts of where your game-related argument is wrong. Your current maneuver implies that you’re aware of it as well....

That's absolutely fine and I'm not claiming to be an authority on the whole Storypath system - I'm still working out all the nuances of how it works as we go as well. But what I do have is a year head start on most people and that I was closely studying the system to see how it works, twisting and pulling to see how it responds to different pressures. I did this so I could write around three-quarters of the systems AEon bolts onto Storypath and around a quarter of Aberrant's systems. I also got to see how some very talented writers built their rules around the core system to bring a lot of fun...

Since the relative Scale table (p. 74) places Talents at Tier 1, I’d say so....

As a shift to what I’ve said earlier, the example under ‘Combat and Scale’ on p.109-110 in Trinity Core pretty much says psions gain the Scale Enhancement bonus when fighting Tier 1 humans. They’ll also suffer this when fighting Tier 3 novas and Aberrants.

  • That’s pretty much flavour text, and maybe a cultural thing Uratha and Wolf-Blooded say, but it’s not really a divide between different “types” of Wolf-Blooded, or that they have literally different origins....

For the most part, the answer is ‘don’t worry too much about it’.

Breaking that down a bit, p.73 of TC Core says In cases where the significantly greater size, speed, power, or other characteristic of one entity would help it accomplish a task before or against another entity, that entity receives two or more successes as a Scale Enhancement..

So, for your first question above, most of the areas comparing the psion to the human aren’t significantly greater size, speed, or power. Barring psi power use, the psion isn’t “significantly” faster than a baseline human....

The lesson here is ‘don’t try and take on an Aberrant by yourself, you’ll probably lose’. Ideally he should be working together with others to try and take down QoF.

Against tough opponents like this with regeneration, he’d probably be better off choosing Feint rather than Inflict Damage, to give himself Enhancement to his next attack in the hopes this will have more effect.

Yes, there’s some confusing wording in that Embed. I think the intent is that when the demon tries to use Merciless Gunman on an ineligible target, the ST informs the demon that the Embed won’t work as he expects. If the demon still decides to use it anyway, he makes use of the reduced (8-again) effect.

The main purpose of saying ‘it doesn’t work’ isn’t to prevent its use altogether, but to give the demon a chance to pause and maybe change tactics.

1 Declare your target (or targets) and choose your dice pool. The target(s) declare the Defense action they wish to take, and roll for a Defensive action if it’s their first time in the turn being attacked....

Shuragil, what hasn’t been addressed? There are numerous threads and things get lost in the weeds, and sometimes the answers aren’t known yet because the questions are emergent and weren’t thought of during writing. If you have specifics that need to be resolved, please call them out again....

I see your view but disagree. “This power is clearly imbalanced against others of the same level, is that intentional or an error” is, IMO, fair game for the errata thread. It might be an error. The worst that will happen is that the dev will look at the post and ignore it because it is an intentional rule. But if it is something the dev hadn’t noticed before and needs to fix, you’ve drawn his attention to it....

P.264 - Direction (Augendis 3) system says “The psion can also either temporarily increase or decrease the speed of biological processes, like breathing or healing by successes spent“ but doesn’t say what change per success. Is it doubled/halved per success or multiplied/divided by the number of successes spent?

I think they’re referring to the fact that Hellfire, though Reflexive, requires an activation roll separate to actually shooting at anyone. The results of this roll dictate what effect Hellfire has. In the example you appear to have skipped this step....
