I think it's less a reference of Apocalypse Garou people, and more just getting back to source language and 'First Tongue-izing' a word that is French for 'werewolf'.

I.e., in Apocalypse, the people were Garou - literally they were 'werewolf'. In Forsaken the people are Uratha, but the classic werewolf form is almost called werewolf.

(I recall we had a discussion about language sources and meanings when figuring out changes between 1st and 2nd editions. Though Gauru makes everyone think of Garou, IIRC it's not meant to be any more of a link than both games calling them...

According to Mage 2nd edition, mages don't use First Tongue because they sound foreign and the spirits take insult from it. Strangely (strange, as in, I would have thought spirits would like ages to at least try and communicate with them in their own language), spirits prefer mages to use their own terms for things rather than get them wrong....

  • I love what you've done with the place. Aus-centered games always warm my heart.

Wyrd - great to hear about your Uluru-centered game as well.

Quite a bit, from BNS's Kickstarter page (all emphasis theirs):

"By Night Studios is proud to be White Wolf’s official publisher of Mind’s Eye Theatre products, and we are thrilled to be working with them directly on key elements of the story and metaplot for this book."

"An updated story that frames the epic tale of the Garou for the 21st century. We are honored to be working closely with White Wolf’s Lead Storyteller Martin Elricsson to infuse MET: Werewolf with a powerful narrative and mature story that helps usher in the new era of the World of Dar...

  • You don't need a lot on the Pitjantjara themselves. Remember that the Bunyip weren't just confined to Central Australia, they roamed the whole continent. While it's good that you want to avoid a bunch of stereotypes, this does mean that you can take those bits and pieces of the culture that interest you, or that you think would be fun to introduce to your players, and bring them together for the Bunyip.

Look at what's common across many Aboriginal nations - a strong sense of ritual, initiations into secrets and specific roles that can be performed. A Bunyip Ragabash or Ahroun has...

WWP re-released an anthology of stories published years ago. From what I've seen it attracted some controversy as it was edited by a convicted child abuser. (I'm not familiar with this aspect and don't know when the conviction occurred in the timeline of things.)

Martin added one story that he wrote to the re-released anthology. I've not read it, but opinion I've seen suggests it's not very good....

  • Thank you for saying so. We worked hard to make the history as rich as possible, and try to explain some of the deeply historic and cultural issues that are the roots of shapeshifters' modern problems.

It's a pity that someone felt the need to slap 'non-canon' on it. ...
