Perikinetic shields of the same ‘wavelength’ don’t overlap. For one dot, you can put up a kinetic shield, 2-dots you can do the same on yourself with an energy shield — these will overlap because they’re different. With Bulk Shielding you’re not just limited to yourself and can project these shields around others as well as yourself, but you can’t double this up with your own shield — one or the other.

I’m also inclined to say that you can’t have multiple PKs bulk shielding each other with overlapping shields, but I’d need to crunch the numbers a little to see...

I’m glad we’re on the same page. One thing I think does need to be clarified:

Please note that Scion’s use of Scale *does not always equal* Trinity Continuum’s use. Many things are similar, not everything.

The final edits for Trinity Continuum will hopefully be out soon and we can then all be referring to the same material. 🙂...

    You’re welcome, no problem.

Thinking further on your example and my post, a way to look at it is that Scale doesn’t have to be used for comparative levels in scenes where that doesn’t make senes, as you have actual numerical bonuses to use that takes this into account.

What’s I mean is, if the scene in your example was Villain (Scale 3) vs Hero (Scale 1), for simplicity I’d probably give Hero straight dice rolls and Villain +4 Enhancement for the Scale difference. (On applicable powers - Scale in Trinity Continuum isn’t a blanket thing you apply to everything...

Graylion I’m moving this over from the ‘Ask the Devs’ thread because it’s already started a back-and-forth there which Rich has asked us to avoid.

I think I can see what you’re saying, but I also think you’re trying to create a problem that doesn’t exist.

Looking at your example, and just ignoring (for the moment) whether powers work the way you’ve described, there’s little to no reason to do the amount of dice rolling you seem to think needs to be done.

Note that I’m assuming you’re the Storyguide in this scenario and...

That implicit reference is in the Combat & Scale section and refers to inflicting damage on things more than 3 Scale higher. The use of the term ‘encounter’ in the final sentence could be taken as applying to other forms of interaction as well*, but look at the heading it’s under.

So even if you choose to extrapolate that to this example**, Speed 3 vs Speed 6 is still within the ‘no more than 3 different’ frame.

    * At 4+ Scale difference, the higherScale thing has +8 Enhancement at least, so the SG hand wave the result if she wanted.

    ** Not...

If I’m reading your question correctly, differences in Scale don’t stop characters from interacting, but the one with higher Scale is going to have the advantage. In the example you’ve given with Speed Scale, if you’re talking about Dramatic Scale the psychokinetic will gain 6 Enhancement to relevant rolls due to the 3 step difference between Scale 3 and 6....

All I can say at the moment is that expanded Scale and smaller Size are coming.

Bunyip, I was wondering if you had any insight into my Small Scale question listed here? You seem to be very well versed in the Storypath system.

    Thank you

Yes, scale and when it applies is something that is being clarified in the errata pass.

Sure, your game is your game. In my game, if the subject was dead - for whatever value of ‘dead’ the ST decides is dead - I’d say it’s beyond Influence: Healing. But even a dead thing will still have some living cells within it who are a bit behind the dying curve, using up the last of their metabolic functions in a normally balanced system rapidly spiralling out of control. If you want, those could be affected by Influence Healing after death, erupting in mass uncontrolled tumors, growing out of the corpse as long as the Essence keeps up, then oozing and dying along with the rest of the...

Correct. You’re not one-shotting major characters. You’ll put them in a bad situation and set them up for your allies.

(Unless scale comes into it, but the errata team are clarifying when scale applies as well.)...

replied to A Question about Aiming
No I don’t, I let each round add +1 up to the dots in Aim. I double the final bonus with Sniper. The reasoning is firstly that it’s an Edge - a player wanted to take it and they want to get good, fun use out of it, so I let them. Secondly, each round they want to spend doing nothing but aiming is a round they’re doing nothing but aiming. I figure that patience in setting up what they want deserves a reward in itself. Also, while I recall that Scion calls out +3 Enhancement as recommended maximum, I don’t remember Trinity Continuum doing the same. (Feel free to correct me if I’ve missed...

Healing doesn’t happen after death. I’d say the dead are beyond this Influence’s effect.
