  • First off, I apologize for my statements about Martin Ericsson in the last thread. I went too far and let my strong emotions get the better of me.

But here's my two cents on the issue. I never liked personal horror or metaplot, which is why Revised Edition was never my cup of tea. If you like Revised, that's cool, but it's not for me. I unironically prefer katanas and heroism to personal horror any day of the week, but that is just my personal taste and nothing more.

It looks like that V5 is going to be similar to Revised only in a more 2010's context rather than a 90's...

  • Ah, I see. Thank you for that clarification.

If the mods need me to amend my posts to comply with the rules, I will be more than happy to do so....

  • Did you flag my post? I'm not mad, just confused. I don't know if I did anything wrong, I was under the impression that Onyx Path and the New White Wolf are at odds because of Martin Ericsson's behavior.

If I did do something wrong, tell me what it is and I can amend my post....

  • I'm glad you and I can be civil about this. We'll just agree to disagree on this one....

  • Well, I don't. A little dark is fine, but when you go full-on edgelord personal horror, then I tune out (though I respect your right to play the games the way you want to play them).

However, if you're the type of edgelord who is edgy just for the sake of being controversial, and deliberately seeks to cause controversy and drama when there is no need for it AND you're an abusive psychological sadist who thinks a remake of WoD: Gypsies is somehow a good idea and wants to include 9/11 into the metaplot of your games, and then hires a low-rent porn star with a shady past purely...

  • Sorry if I upset you, it was not my intention. But it is a documented fact that Martin Ericsson is a vile edgelord who has literally psychologically abused his own LARPers (the incident where he purposely and knowingly locked a severe claustrophobe into a tight dark closet) and is a generally bad person who loves being controversial for the sake of it.

  • Kenneth Hite does have an impressive track record with designing games, it's a shame he decided to throw his hat in with a sadistic toolbag like Martin Ericsson.

  • I always modify my games regardless, because in my opinion, I find personal horror to be pretentious and boring, but the main reason I am not buying this is because I don't want to give an odious edgelord like Martin Ericsson my hard-earned money.

It's more of the principle of the matter than anything else. Plus the fact that they're making V5 when we already have V20 is a case of "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" in my book. V20 is good enough as it is....

  • It is very different because there are many people still alive with harsh memories of 9/11 while there is nobody alive who was directly affected by World War I. Even in the 1990's when the Wraith book you mentioned was published, the amount of people directly involved with or affected by World War I were old and few in number.

Plus, even sixteen years later, 9/11 is still a political hot-button that is still affecting the state of world affairs to this very day....

  • You're not exactly familiar with my vision of WoD, are you? I don't like personal horror and I Rule Zero it out of my WoD games.

I prefer dark action-adventure and political intrigue over personal horror and metaplot. Also, including 9/11 in the metaplot is rather tasteless....

I hate how everything has become so over-politicized and that both the Right and the Left are stupid, full of shit, and completely fucking insane.

As stated before, I've withdrawn from politics completely for the time being for the sake of my own sanity. Instead, I'll be spending my nights relaxing on the couch, drinking Jameson whiskey and watching reruns of Yu-Gi-Oh! and Sailor Moon while brainstorming ideas for some D&D fanfiction (and maybe some Vampire: The Requiem fics as well).

  • As long as they're pushing for their new super-edgy vision of what Vampire should be or if they intend on continuing the metaplot (and if I remember correctly, they intend on doing both), I'm not buying this. I don't care how solid the rules may be. Revised had solid rules and it was still an edgy metaplot-ridden crock of shit.

I don't need V5 when I have 1e, 2e, and V20. Same goes for Chronicles of Darkness, I don't need 2e CofD when I have 1e nWoD. End of story. I will not be supporting Martin Ericsson or his fucked up vision for a once-great RPG franchise.
