Even if you do like the Strix, I don't.

So don't force me to use them if I don't want to. If you want Strix in your games, that's fine. But I don't.

Why do you even care what I think? Is my opinion worth that much to you? It's not even worth that much to me.

Either way, I will write a blog to contain these opinions of mine, it will make things easier for both of us. You guys are annoyed with me (and rightfully so) and I intellectually know that punishing myself like this is not healthy...

I just don't like the Strix and I find the concept of spooky ghost owls with no real motives of any kind to be a lame antagonist in general.

Even if werewolves in CofD have nothing to do with vampires, there's more potential in them as antagonists in my opinion than there are in the Strix, who I find to be very shallow and one-dimensional (and that's sad when I am the one saying such things)

No argument from me there. But while I probably do need help, I'm honestly not sure if I deserve it....

I know and expect that I am going to get backlash for having the "wrong" opinions, and to be honest, I deserve the backlash because regardless of how valid my opinions are, I really fucking hate myself. No joke here, I'm serious.

Honestly, a lot of it is fueled by self-hatred and the fact that I am a scumbag who deserves to be punished for a lot of shit (most of which happened off-site) and I neither want nor deserve pity for it.

I hate myself and part of me wants to die, but I am too chickenshit to physically harm myself so I harm myself psychologically and...

    That's actually a great idea.

ArcaneArts You think I don't play these games and never have? I'll admit, I have more experience with VTM LARP than I ever did with VTR tabletop but I do own the Requiem 1E books and if you sincerely want me to prove you wrong, I can.

Hell, I will even invite you to a game and show you how it's done if you want....

I never tried to present anything as fact but whatever makes you feel good I suppose. If making me into a strawman villain will make you feel better, so be it.

All I was saying is that if someone was interested in 2e Requiem, they should also get some 1e books for context and compare the settings before deciding which one they prefer (with the caveat that I personally dislike the 2e setting changes because of the Strix) and maybe I wasn't the best at wording it but then again. I am an idiot.

Look, I have considered giving Requiem 2e's mechanics a chance and I am not as...

I know werewolves aren't natural enemies of vampires like they were in Masquerade, but what I am saying is that they have better potential as an enemy or hazard to the Kindred than the Strix.

Again, this is just my opinion and nothing more so feel free to disagree with me....

There is a difference between a lie and hyperbole. I even said that I was exaggerating in my post.

I know I don't have to include them and I don't, but the fact that they got a whole chapter to themselves in 2e, regardless of how self-contained it may be is just disappointing.

Honestly, if I were in charge of Requiem 2E, I would not have included the Strix at all in the corebook and instead saved them for another supplement like they did with Belial's Brood or put them in a 2E update of Requiem For Rome....

Alright, you want me to explain why I think the Strix are a terrible antagonist (not counting playable character templates such as the aforementioned Changing Breeds), I can do that...

    1. They're invincible super-villains that went from a simple plot device in Requiem for Rome to the main antagonist of the entire Requiem line in 2e that are somehow responsible or connected to every single event in Kindred history and society, despite having no real motive or personality on account of being freakin' birds. I am exaggerating here, but not by much.

    2. Even though they are...

Meh, I have mixed feelings on the mechanical changes of 2e but I did NOT like the setting changes of 2e, namely removing both Belial's Brood and the Fog of Ages and the increased emphasis on the Strix.

Seriously, the Strix are one of the worst and most unnecessary antagonists in the entire Chronicles of Darkness lineup. At least in my opinion.

If you want the 2e mechanics, then go for 2e but maybe get some of the 1e books and use elements from 1e's setting, such as Belial's Brood and the more mysterious version of VII from the early days of Requiem. Avoid the Strix at...

  • I'm a notorious iconoclast when it comes to WoD and CoD and I get a lot of flak here (often rightfully so, I will admit)

But is it wrong that I would much rather play a Hero than a Beast? I started a thread on it earlier, but I admit I worded the opening post poorly and the thread eventually derailed.

I'm a marginalized person. Yes, I may be a cis white male BUT I am bisexual, disabled, mentally ill, impoverished, and a religious minority (I am a pagan and prior to that, was an atheist) so while one could say I may be privileged in a few areas (and I won't argue that)...

  • If I were to do a Bloodlines 2, I would set it in Chicago by Night BUT do it as a prequel more in line with V1 than V5 (mainly because I utterly hate and despise the setting changes V5 made) so Lodin would be Prince and not Kevin Jackson (though Jackson would be a major NPC in the game)

To satisfy the metaplot purists, I would explicitly set this game in the 1990's as a period piece so you can have all the cool stuff like the Ravnos and the Giovanni and none of that stupid V5 metaplot shit except possibly as DLC.

Gary would be the first area you start in, with other areas...

  • Wait? Did I just read that right?

We can write LARP supplements for CofD now? And the remaining CofD gamelines will be added too?

    Awesome....
