Chandra didn't join battle. Your grapple needs a control roll now.

    (Topaz)

After investigating the body, Topaz notices the strange fact that, despite a lack of wounds, the man died of a lack of blood. As a wise man, the Lord-Scholar Noodle once stated,"Funny thing, that. Not living and not having any blood."

There are many mysteries in this world, truly....

  • Lunging at Shoat like a wrothful avenger, Laughter lashes out, slicing Shoat diagonally, as she whimpers, barely able to move before the blade smites her. Immediately, Chandra leaps back, staring at Laughter, before Shoat's body writhes unnaturally. It jerks up at Laughter with dead eyes.

"You, boy! Your murderous vision is truly something to behold! You didn't even hesitate to kill my dear little pet! That's all she was, savor that bloody rush! However, this does set my research back a bit; to lose both Shoat AND my Tricorn Dhampir the Glacial Tyrant so kindly gave me. Such...

  • The beast screams as Laughter pushes it back ever further. It is now crashed.

    What will Diane do?

  • Sadly, Diane's blow bounces off the Dhampir's thick hide.

Laughter's, however, strikes true, and gouges a chunk out of the beast's side. It howls an unnerving keening shriek, before whipping out with a taloned paw at Laughter's head, which then misses, as Laughter ducks out of the way.

    It is now Laughter's turn.

Chandra and Shoat both turn to face you as Shoat brightens," Oh, Dhampir is looking much better! Look, he's even found a few friends."

"Indeed. Let's see if these two can do that much," Chandra says, leaning against a tree. Apparently, this battle will be against 'Dhampir' and the two of you.

Very well, then. Roll Join Battle.

  • (Diane and Laughter)

The growling continues, as Laughter searches the bush for it, until Diane searches above them. There, in the treetops, she sees it. A horrifying sight. Spingly legs, fluting mane along a sloping neck, its head seems too small for its bloodshot eyes and its lolling tongue, hanging from a dropping snout, which has a set of vicious fangs. On its brow are a trio of unnervingly sharp horns, and the entire beast looks slick and greasy as if it had recently taken a bath in ichor or...other unsavory things.

Essen cries out when she sees it, and it lunges,...

  • I'd second several of the suggestions put forward, especially about the draft of the ship the Cricle in question will use, the desired locale for your Chronicle (The West will be very different from the Dreaming Sea, for instance.) I'd also recommend taking a look at Bronze Age sailing civilizations, like the Phoenicians, the Hyksos, and the Polynesians and seeing what skills and attributes their civilizations used to surmount the myriad of difficulties of long-range sailing voyages. On top of this, I'd recommend taking a look at ye olden travelogues for neat ideas of things you can populate your...

Sadly, you cannot read the sign. It looks like an unfortunate picture of a man having his face eaten by an enthusiastic monkey....or something. Surely, this is the work of evil spirits.

Maybe if you try a linguistics roll, perhaps at Difficulty 4 you can parse out some semblance of understanding? Maybe? Chandra and the others are merely content to watch the bear-people haul dirt. Something amazing must be nearby. The enroaching fog doesn't seem to faze them, either. Is this normal on this island?

    (Laughter and Diane)

    You arrive ashore,...

You trail after Chandra as he walks ashore and returns to the girl's side as she looks at him pensively, as a guttural growl emerges from somewhere nearby.

"What's with him? Didn't you fee him?" Chandra asks the girl, as she slowly nods.

"I fed him a little bit ago. Something is making him upset. Boy, what's the matter?" she asks, looking up, as the growling continues, before it halts and a whistling breeze shifts by.

"He just took off. I think something on this island is making him uneasy," the girl says,...

  • Chandra pauses in his swagger, before turning around on the rail as he grinned," I'll say this last thing. Yuugo Al-Argentum's treasure is real. My Boss is looking for it, and that Heart, and this island are necessary for this mission. If we succeed in finding it, then all this, all the strife, all the Realm, the Will of Cobra, all of it, will be washed away, and a land of peace will be forged. If that tickles your fancy, then follow me ashore. If not, well, I can understand. Peace is a hard pill to swallow for men like us."

  • Chnadra coughs," There's not much else to say. The Heart is needed for the work my Boss is doing. If he succeeds, then all the pain, suffering, and anguish this part of the world is experiencing, will end, and a new golden land will arrive. Just you see. Thanks f'r the drink. Now, I'll have to take my leave," Chandra says, rising before nodding at Laughter and Essen

Chandra begins to make his way out to the deck. If you have anything else to say to him, now would be the time.

  • Chandra sighs," You seem to have a rather....interesting view on the world picture, Ser. You heard that from the privateers in Flotsam? You're going to shed crocodile tears for that band of pirates? What if I told you, boy, that that Heart could light the way to salvation, to a riches that could enliven the entirety of the Dreaming Sea? ANd all we need to do? Is to give up a city filled with pirates, thugs and criminals? Well, I'm not one to talk, but, that seems like a trade to me."

What will you do all now?

  • Essen nods and ceases to be the fever dream of a timid man from Massachusetts or the lurid fantasies of high school girls from a far-off island. Either or. Reassuring her normal, plain, human appearance. Nothing weird going on on this ship. Nope.

Chandra follows Laughter to his cabin, where he pulls up a chair, as Essen trails the pair. No way in the Brass Realms is she going to let this strange man be alone with her Master.

Chandra follows suit, licking his lips, "That's good. All I've had to drink for the past week is watery piss that my Boss keeps. Presumably...

  • Chandra turned to his colleague for a moment, muttering something to her, before he turned back to Laughter, nodding," I've never been one to turn down a drink. I'll be over in a moment.:

He then strides over the waves as sure as one walking on land, as the tides turn into frost beneath his feet. He calmly walks over to the ship, before leaping aboard.

"Chandra Coffin-Filler, called the Devil-Killer, at your service," he says, bowing.

    What will you do now?

  • "Drum?" Chandra is clearly confused. He turns to his comrade, as she shrugs," Do you mean the bloke over there with the horn? That's not what he's for, either. He's there to inform the Boss you're here, is all. Now, the real question, is boy-o, what ought I do about you? Will you go home quietly? Or will I need to convince you?"

  • Chandra arches his brow, a point that is lost somewhat due to the distance between the two men," Stolen? Good sir, there is naught on this island, but the dead and their riches. The dead hold no sway over this place, so what problem is there if my colleagues and I releive them of it. After all, you can't take it with you,' He called, before he reflexively winced, placing his hand on his brow. However, whatever pain he felt seemed to be momentary, and he returned to his prior nonchalance....

Well, that was odd. What will you do now?

  • The trireme is actually a quite large vessel, possessing a much deeper draft than such vessels usually possess, but still, Laughter;s ship still outclasses her in size handily.

Chandra then looks from his colleague to the sailor blowing the horn on the crow's nest, before returning his gaze to Laughter and replying in his own tenor voice.

"And what if I am? Who are you, to judge me, good sir? You seem to know my name, but I don't know your's," he replies, assuming a relaxed stance, his hands slowly settling on his bandoleer.

    Okay, then. What will...

  • I'm getting vibes of the Third Arm Glaive from 2e, and I actually built one of my favorite characters around that weapon, so this spear gets my like. Great work!

  • Rose smiles, clearly relieved at Lessons' promise. The pair return above decks to find the crew hefting one of the heavy broadside ballistae forward-ships, presumably to threaten the trireme with. However, as before, neither the trireme nor the pair on the beach offer any signal back. Well, no signal, apart from the low constant droning blasts from the lone sailor on the trireme and his horn.

    What will you do?

  • Epee102 I had Polestar Wolf done in 2e, and it should be out on the forum I started Exalted on . The other four (Immortal Archen, Mirage Cobra, Ephemeral Octopus, and Immovable Boar) were never more than outlined, as the game ended not soon after I finished Polestar Wolf and moved on to other things. The thing being, our circle keeps NPCs we've used, and Peerless Oceleot is one of the ones we either use or refer to a lot, so his works are kinda important, at least in our games. We just never got a chance to use them.
