  • It really is. Character growth happens from the first episode to the last episode of season 2, though there is some backsliding here and there for the sake of entertainment. Some people complained about gratuitous action scenes, but it's a friggin' highschool drama + martial arts flick with kids practicing karate; of course there's gonna be lotsa fighting (and none of the fight scenes are in any way bad). Hawk is another good example of a Beast gone off the deep end, and possibly my favorite character on the show despite him becoming a grade-A asshole. he is quite possibly the most 'Beast' character...

  • ArcaneArts Watch Cobra Kai. It's super good and worth the YouTube premium sub just for that show alone. I did not regret one second of that show; Jonny and Kreese are actually great inspiration for Beasts.

  • Seconded on this. When writing or re-writing a game, It should always be someone who is a fan of a game and understands the game doing much of the writing for it. Anyone else is very likely to turn it into something the people who already love it don't want while still failing to attract the people who either ignored it or actively hated it.

Proof: Guess who wrote the best story in the Primordial Feast with an amazing depiction of what it's actually like to be a Beast, from pre-devouring and many years on into her life? I just now realized my favorite poster wrote that, and i've been...

  • It works if and only if every Beast character in the chronicle can reasonably work together to feed off of the same targets in a nice, unbroken chain; but that's rare unless they specifically make characters with that in mind. My current game has eight very different Beasts in it, and i couldn't imagine them all trying to get feedings to work for everyone; it'd be a nightmare of convoluted plans that go beyond Machiavellian into sheer absurdity. Every feeding would make the victim feel like he was getting the biblical Job treatment, and that level of 'your life has been utterly demolished, and...

  • Nice job using a very inaccurate comparison to paint an entire category of people in the most negative light posible. Please don't do this again....

  • This is very true. I have actually tried making Beasts focus on a particular element of their Hunger and originally believed they could only feed on their specific choice of prey, and it made them very narrow and difficult to play, with Beasts afraid to ever use their best abilities even in dangerous situations because Satiety was so hard to come by. They spent so much time setting up elaborate opportunities to feed that they didn't have time for anything else, and the characters became hyperfocused. Someone on this very forum informed me that Beasts didn't have to only feed in their one specifically-chosen...

  • This is what turned me off about Mage as time went on. I got tired of always having to factor in a dozen monolithic organizations with every game and character concept. I still love Mage (old and new), but it's lost a lot of its shine....

  • This, so much. While i'd prefer them to actually be good if we must have them, i have not once missed them and in fact find the fact that Beast doesn't emphasize dealing with a Beast-specific society is a strong selling point for me. If the next edition of Beast includes z-splats in the core, i'll suddenly HAVE to use them in any game i run or play in because people will expect it and tend to not take it well when an ST cuts out corebook stuff. That means a lot more focus on something i just don't care about, and doing extra work to downplay and minimize interaction with that part i don't want...

  • If OP doesn't have you writing for the Storyteller's Guide a crime will have been committed. You actually get Beast and what people who love the game see and play it as and i sincerely hope someone recognizes that. If not, i wouldn't be upset about any fan work you did.
