On that note, the Maar-Kherit were shown in advance of the Kickstarter but that section is absent from the manuscript. So they may have been removed, in order to put the full details in the Book of Lasting Death.
Ideally this would free up word count in the core rules to be used elsewhere, but that seems unlikely....

9/10 they slip details like this into the Monday Meeting blog or the pathcast. Explictly about the contents of Exigents, the question came up multiple times and we got some answers in the Ask the Devs thread....

I'd like to point out that it appears that the Arisen have rather limited control over where in the vast ocean they end up. You can encourage your cult to call you in a particular timeline, but you are basically going where you are sent.
Love the essay, by the way.

If it happens, great. If it doesn't, it is a shame but at least the rest of the gameline is great.
I don't hold out much hope for expanding the...later Chronicles of Darkness lines. But that doesn't mean I will write them off. Who knows, maybe the book will sell enough that Onyx Path might ask it's writers for book pitches. I'd say it is WAY too early for that right now, at the very least it won't happen until the book is released and the stretch goal content is done.
All we can right now is wait.

Well we don't have the errata submission form yet, but unless there has been a change we will get a chance to point out any errors/mistakes like the Touchstone thing.
A bit sad (and oddly, angry) we didn't get to 'Lasting Death: Ka'. It wasn't even the next goal. And Anpu knows we won't get the Purified until we get the Shadow/spirits in a Mummy book.

The issue with 'quick and dirty' Duat rules, is Duat is already the most optional part of the game, seeing as the general assumption is that the Arisen have no memory of it, ever, barring those exceptionial Deathless who are already in an endgame (Ankh or Apotheosis). Non-liner time is more baked in than playing in Duat.
Furthermore, Dust is handled narratively, because it is not a matter of chance; it is the Descended's choices that are being Judged, not their luck. It might be better to just assume the character gets no punishment or blessing conditions for Duat, if people don't want to...

It is discussed in the Timeless Tales chapter (preview 5), but like all the other conditions, it is listed in the Appendix, (listed as Alternate Current). It isn't exactly an exciting take but does have the added benefit of being easy to slip into a game if a player throws a curve ball with time shennaggins.
Bonus points for being able to switch between alternate timelines between Descents. So what would happen is there would be one temporal current where the cult produced advanced technology throughout the ages and the assumed default where it did not. The Arisen may be called to...

Yep, that is cause for that alternate timeline condition. Anchored to the cult no less.

Korogra I make sure to explain the importance of a Trigger Card when I run D&D for people. Because someday, someone might need it. I would hardly consider a basic eurofantsy setting to be that dangerous, but you never know.
You are obviously more in touch with how your group will use the Trials and i'm not going to tell you how to play your game. I just ask that you consider them in the spirit they were written.

In answer to the question voiced in the very first line; yes. All the Timeless gain access to the Timeless merits and Cult is considered a Timeless merit. It does imply that it is Mummy only with the description, but unlike Artisan's Aptitude, it does run off anything in the Arisen template. It also has clear benefits to Immortals (unlike Dead Flesh) and is arguably a social merit. Certainly if the Unchained and the Begotten can have cultists, Blood Bathers and Reborn can have them too.
Plus, if an Immortal can contribute merit dots to the Arisen's cult it makes them more valuable...Last edited by FallenEco; 11-30-2019, 08:18 PM.

Any new interest in this now that we've seen how the Judges manifest in the world?
Any chance of not derailing this thread based on the hypothetical nature of the Exarchs.

Given their inspiration, I'm surprised that the Eternals are just as likely to die from mortal causes as the Reborn. Even the Tenacious Eternity merit only adds Durability to their Relic; no mention of any Dorian Grey 'push fatal injuries into the painting' tricks for all their claims of phylacteries.
Edit: Also where did Shades come from? Not bashing anything in the manuscript but the first hint of them is in the Antagonist chapter. Are they the 'other' souls we encounter in Duat? I know we won't see the fiends until we get the storytelling chapter......Last edited by FallenEco; 11-30-2019, 12:10 AM.

B; Definitely B. Especially given the other Wolfenoot gift on your patreon. Even more claimed goodness!
And don't think I didn't notice how those...Claimed have powers resembling the Hosts. It would be cause for rampant speculation if it were in a Chronicles book, but those thoughts shall stay in my head, in case that is just what those sly foxes want.

A hymn written to praise the Judges, especially if it is created by the Judges (or their temakh) is not something we should consider reliable. Boasting or overstating their authority seems pretty in character for the likely authors and I do honestly believe the Judges may feel entitled to the few things they don't have. As Sutek created Starry Aa'ru and 'discoverex' the Scroll of Ages...
Well, let's just say I'm not sure the Judges have either yet. But hey, goals are good story fodder right?

My understanding is that Sadikh can use Utterences with the Arisen's permission, spending the Arisen's Pillars. So it is either another origin point for an Utterence (if the Arisen is needed somewhere else) or a way to pull off two Utterences using more Pillars than allowed to spend by current Sekhem.
Not great, but not awful.
As for Sadikh being more durable, is occurs to me we haven't seen the Arisen's default abilities yet. If the Deathless get the 'all non-magic, non-fire damage is bashing' thing, then they get a lot more of the awe-inspiring toughness coming back...

Did the Tomb mechanics get moved to where the default template abilities ended up?
