Agreed! Though Dry as he can be while on podcasts at times( no offense Dave, I’ve just fallen asleep a couple times listening to you explain the premises of a couple game lines xD. That said, i think it was more of a relaxed ASMR thing instead of boredom), he’s not one to really throw shade on people or throw them under the bus for mechanical issues.

But I understand where Tessie is coming from, it’s just not something that seems to be applicable now.

Personally, I like the target number manipulation thing, but neither here nor there xD

    That is good news.

Either way, everything else is still really cool and promising so I’m confident everything will be A-okay!

Korogra posted a Visitor Message for Azahul
I am not gonna lie, I share a lot of your concerns, but I do have faith it’s gonna work itself out in the end! I’ll be honest, I think we as a community caught the devs off guard with our justified reservations regarding the powers

I didn’t think of it until now, but looking at it AGAIN, I’m surprised to see that Azahul is right, several are some of the weaker Utterances to boot, which probably adds to that feeling I have. ( Not that I’m surprised that he’s right, more that I didn’t catch it)

It makes me really Miss Revelations Of Smoke and Fire, and all of the the Words Of Dead Fury/Glory/Hunger, though I admit you could probably merge all three together into a single Utterence now, Words Of Dead [Insert epic or biblical sounding Adverb or Noun here]

That surmises how I feel pretty well. Not as strongly as some, but like I said before, while I greatly enjoy the chapter, there are a notable number of... quirks with Affinities and the lackluster feel to the Utterances makes me not quite as hyped for Mummy The Curse as I was originally. But like before, everything else shows huge promise, especially regarding the lore and flavor blurbs between chapters. I love the MTC mythology a hell of a lot, and it is tied with Promethean at being the best gameline never played for me.. so i am still optimistic.

Now assuming no one fucks up the...

And that’s perfectly fine, that’s not an issue. I just was hoping to see some new iterations of the Affinities that build upon the manipulation of Fate that makes them so unique.

Like how level one in Protean became an expansion on how Haven Of Soil operated....

While not as bothered by it as TR, I do share concerns about the Affinities now that I’ve looked them over a second time. Copy and Pasted they clearly aren’t, but several do seem quite out of place for being adapted for second edition due to their effects not really evolving or getting expanded upon like other similar abilities from other lines. It’s not an overly huge thing, but it is odd.

While I greatly enjoyed most of the chapter, I was a little underwhelmed by the Utterances, they don’t feel as biblically powerful as they seemed to be in 1e, and all of my favorite Utterances were cut from the list, though I’m sure they will appear in later books. Now I do like how some were tweaked, like Blessed is The God-King and Power of Re, the changes feel right to me.

But all in all, I’m a little disappointed in the lack of my favorites and the fact that there is only one new Utterance, not Counting the 1.5 ed Utterances from DE ( but hey, that’s word count limits...

I dunno, calling a Death Knight a Paladin is like calling a Blackguard a Paladin.. technically correct, but it feels wrong.

But it’s a good enough comparison, all things considered....

replied to Can mummies awaken before the Rite?
I would say that it theoretically is possible, but the Rite Of Return has a sort of failsafe worked into it that prevents the Mummy from being willingly deposited into a point of history immediately prior to the the performance of the Rite. Whether 6,000 years ago, or the distant future, or an alternate time stream.. the Judges will not jeopardize the potential creation of their servants. It is the scar that always has been, and always will be carved into the universe.

Fate on the other hand.. well It May be occasionally coaxed into following a path like a horse with a carrot, or...

A demon worth it’s salt would probably laugh their over-engineered ass off at such a claim, but in some circumstances that’s true.

That said, the Maa-Kep are excellent spies amongst their kind, but regarding the wider world, their limited shelf life severely hampers their ability to keep tabs on foes who are, compared to the Deathless, never dormant. Now cults are invaluable in this regard, and do a hell of a lot of heavy lifting.. but saying they are better spies than the race that has to be hyper vigilant every minute of every day to avoid fraying their Cover and comprising...

I missed that part, but it makes sense that he would bar passage along the Rivers.

I wonder if Deceived who have become Fate’s Champions still have that restriction, or if they can go to other planes of existence due to being chained to Fate rather than the Temakhs....

Anpu stops the Temakh from descending into the Underworld, but the Arisen could likely physically find access through a Cenote. But as for finding Duat... that part is much more unlikely....

Can I just say that the fact that the Kher-Minu have returned in a glorious new form is fucking amazing? I was pretty surprised to see a reimagining of these Amenti as a Minor Guild... but I don’t care, it’s just cool to see another nod to M:TR again xD
