  • I like being able to explore the Hypocrisy of the Sabbat in manners like that (Because there's a lot of Hypocrisy in the whole sect)
It sometime can change things, unlike all the Hypocrisy in workplaces, governments or friendships.......

I'm pretty sure it was originally mentioned as Humanity and there's not been a comment on paths in a book. But I wouldn't mind Beast as an acceptable Path for it.
But Sense Wyrm is always adjudicated by a ST anyway, so having a firm mechanic isn't as necessary

If you allow it on ALL paths then ones like SIN that make you engage in Wyrm tainted actions suddenly not showing up because... you've controlled your beast through devotion to the Wyrm, seems counter intuitive to the intent of the Gift....

    Since you may need to know how to _Make_ an item when it comes to Conjuring;
"Particularly complex items often require a Knowledge roll (Crafts, Science, Technology, etc.) in addition to the basic roll." - V20 p221
Knowledge of the process to make it might be needed as well as knowing it exists and it's chemical composition, which only adds a little difficulty, not making it impossible.
And you only need level 3 (Cries in the distance) because 4 is unsummon (Which I would recommend with such volatile compounds) and 5 is summon life.

    * A note on Summon Life;...

  • I believe that Onyx Path has officially stated that the only V20 stuff coming out will be what is already Kickstartered or on the slate to be put up soon.
I'm not sure if it's an Onyx Path executive decision to focus on V5 or White Wolf won't approve IP use for new projects, but it won't happen.
Storyteller's Vault could support it still and Maybe some writers at Onyx have the passion to put it through there. But nothing official...

  • I'll agree Vampires in V:TM almost exclusively drink blood for sustenance, not really in here to argue that point. It doesn't help either side.
What the main argument is, is that the stories shouldn't Always Have to Focus on that aspect. But the Mechanic enforces it.

Lots of things sprouted from 1st Ed - Requiem was described as going back to the roots; Kindred the Embraced was technically based on Proto-1st ed.
But since it's had 26 years of momentum, going back to sprout from First instead of an evolution from where it was with Rev/V20 makes it feel less like Masquerade....

  • Really?

With your horribly absurd strawman, I'll just tweak it a little.

White Wolf - We'll make you a supreme pizza that is better but follows on with the theme of supreme pizza. Would you like it, we'll deliver it in months and you don't get to see it, but trust us; you'll like it.
Customer - Hi can I get a Supreme Pizza?
    White Wolf - Sure
Customer -This pizza doesn't have chicken on it like it has for the last 26 years I've been coming here. But it has Pineapple. I don't like pineapple
Defender of Pizza - I feel like it's been missing Pineapple...

  • If I rephrase the premise as "A fundamental aspect of Vampires is drinking blood?" are you happy, the rest still flows equally from that point. (Your words used there, and your point)
My Complaint isn't that the system makes you play as intended. I've mentioned a few times that is the case, it does what it set out to do.
I'm not saying that drinking blood isn't a "Fundamental aspect" of vampire life, you ignored my entire post where I took that as Granted and agreed with you.

I'm saying that even with it being a fundamental aspect, that doesn't mean...

If you don't like the analogies, agrue in good faith and say why you don't think that applies.

For instance you say that you don't like the food/security analogy as it has no inherent conflict.

-In a Third world country, and for many people in the world, that is all that their life revolves around; food, clean water and shelter. Even in 1st world countries many adults go without food so that their...

  • I agree that is how V5 is written. And it works as intended in that way.
Due to the large shift from previous editions on what "Humanity" is, previous concepts that work for characters in previous editions suddenly don't work now.

Eg, someone on Humanity seeking Golconda who has isolated themselves from all temptation, a small self sufficient farm, for farming animals to drink from. Nothing to inspire any envious or violent thoughts any way in their night to night business. Much like a Yogi or Guru who might separate themselves from much of the temptations of life...

  • OK, lets take your view that Vampire is _ALL_ about drinking blood. It's the only thing that all Vampires have in common

With that, I would like to present that the essence of the Human struggle is all about Physiological needs (Food Water, Warmth and Rest) and Safety Needs (Security and Safety) as per Maslow's Hierarchy of needs.
Every Human experience has these desires in common. That and then Procreation if feasible.

Most movies won't show the struggle for Food/Shelter and Water in a modern setting. Fighting for an Apartment or to stay warm, nope. Some do picture...

  • By proposing a house rule to reduce the effect of the mechanic; it shows the issue with the mechanic.
Also, it shows the disparity that the mechanic affects different groups depending on their play style.
    - There should be no issue with groups that prefer dice lite or dice heavy games; the experience should be similar outside of the dice rolling aspect. But it's not.
Liking Hunger's effects or not doesn't change that different play styles (All within RAW/or Rules as Optioned) will be affected significantly differently.

While Many vampires have blood as an...

  • First important question - What edition are you using for the game, and Dark ages rules or Modern?
The Rules on Caitiff go through a few different versions.
Some get their choice of 3 as "in Clan", some can buy anything at a higher cost. Most STs would require your initial selection to be "Common" disciplines (Yours May Differ)
In the case of an Elder Caitiff, you probably know your sire and their Clan (If you don't, it was almost certainly Gangrel) so maybe having 1 of their specialist Disciplines is a reasonable thing.

    Being an Experiment yourself...

  • Trying to keep positive, The concern stems from the fact it is a big change from previous versions; Which I admit, a lot of people like, limits a range of character concepts that were available in previous editions and the reality that a lot of people (pre embrace or "reality") don't connect in that way to individuals, but ideals and concepts instead

To Quote BATMAN and Ra's al Ghul
Batman "...It's not who I am underneath... but what I *do*... that defines me."

Ra's al Ghul "No, no, no. A vigilante is just a man lost in the scramble for...

  • If you are calculating the odds of a hunger dice being 1 (1 in 10) then you know that die is a failure.
Multiplying the odds of 6 dice failing means that your hunger dice are showing 1-5 on the faces, so the odds of either of those failures being a "1" is only 1 in 5, not 1 in 10
    .. 1........ 2 ........3 ........4 ........5 ........6 Dice
    50% x 50% x 50% x 50% x 50% x 50%

For example by your methodology a 1 dice pool with 1 Hunger dice
50% odds of failure, then 10% change of Hunger dice being a 1 - This give a result of a 5% chance of a...

I like the aspects of Thinblood Alchemy that don't have them replicating disciplines too....

    When it comes to Disciplines;
Firstly think how their use would enhance what you would have done without them, making you better at what you were already good at.
Secondly, try to imagine all the variable uses of the lowest levels first of your disciplines, as a character would have had most experience with them; Dominate 1 and Obten 1 are both handy and Versatile in the right situations. If level 1 can be used to solve a problem, go to that before level 2 or above.

  • Depending on what you want as an end result, you could have a group of Malkavians that come together for assistance dealing with similar derangement. Not a bloodline or lineage, more a club or support group of Phobics or Multiple personality disorders, etc.

It could a a good reason to have them all in one city, where a lineage might slip across the globe.

milo v3 As you can see, overall the new edition is... divisive
    As non-Biased as I can be;

The Mechanics - it is a significant change from earlier editions. For good or Bad
The Art - Some like it, some don't
There are a range of play styles, but all are influenced by the mechanics; for those that like the mechanics, it (Seems like) it's a natural evolution of the way they were playing anyway.
    - For those that don't like the mechanics - because some aspects of play feel hard coded (With Hunger being ever present in every roll) it eliminates styles of play where...
