I Still maintain that if a Vampire is down to Stamina 0 due to "Normal" means, where the power doesn't have an explicit effect overriding; then it'd mean torpor

As per definition in Obtenebration 1 in V20 Book, p188.
"Opponents plagued by flapping shadows and strangling darkness subtract one die from all Stamina dice pools (including soak). Mortals, ghouls, and other air-breathers reduced to zero Stamina by strangling shadows begin to asphyxiate;"

If you have any reason to believe that Shadowcrafting path would not apply in the sameway ; I'm not an expert on it. But I do know it's not in current edition to accurately compare unfortunately.

Now, the wording on Vampires for this power says that they can still operate...

  • A certain kind of Consensus, if it's matching what exists in Fallout, you have Ghosts, limited Psychic powers, super science, and Radiation/FEV mutation into higher life forms. Plus a few drops of Aliens! added for good measure. But, people would be more likely to believe that weird stuff is possible, so paradox may be dramatically weakened.

One of the biggest problems for vampires would be travel, getting safe sunproof accommodation doesn't seem to be easy outside of the Vaults, underground and in the middle of a few of the larger buildings. So I think that the general kind of vampiric...

What edition of the rules are you talking about? DAV20, attacks occur on your turn in general, celerity just makes them better.
v20, I think that attacks would be a the end of the turn

Full Defense wouldn't be applicable in DA, so in V20 it'd be no, Full defense is multiple defense actions with a lesser penalty, and celerity isn't compatable with multiple actions
"Vampires with the Discipline of Celerity (p. 142) may take multiple actions without subtracting dice from their dice pools. These extra actions may not themselves be divided into multiple actions."

Stamina 0 is instant death or Torpor. Stamina 1 would mean a messed up immune system and stairs winding them.

1a) - It may help some, many or almost all characters in the past, but it's now a Mandated aspect you have to use with your character.
1b) It has also changed the focus, Humanity in previous editions was an internalised code to keep control and keep the beast away (Even if that code is the published on that everyone uses). One of the most successful ways to do that was to remove temptations and get away from people. Now there is a heavy focus on external factors. You can't have a personal code without external factors and a player MUST have them (at character creation at least, or they'll...

For the sake of considering V5 as a different game instead of edition; whether it's good change or not isn't the important thing - It's a change that is not reconcilable with stories that exist in the previous editions, and there's no great "Spellplague" or "Avatar Storm" to say why things have tilted on the axis....

Whether it's due to there being a too-massive change, too many changes that would have seemed reasonable if released over the years, or possibly lower level change; It doesn't matter if it's not communicated well.

And, personally, I think that there are too many mechanical changes (like Morality/touchstones, blood potency/generation etc) To feel like the same game - the Fluff they've introduced isn't my problem....

There are certainly a lot of changes, I wouldn't call it all retcons, a lot of changes felt like we were getting more of the story eg the ... let's call it "Classic depiction of the Ravnos" was shown to be only a part of their story but I don't feel like it required overwriting what had happened before.
And there's a (mechanically and Fluggwise) difference between a small bloodline with a different focus and the whole clan can do it but no one in the last 2000 years realised it..

Yet again, for Headcannon and the main game, we're running with it as discussed, but I...

As CT mentions, which I Quote below, the word is "Retcon" not "settles the issue" there is 25 years, multiple clan books and novels, fluff and crunch that came before that disagrees.
And, unfortunately, a lot of the differences of Pre V5 and V5 aren't explained but make do not work unless you take V5 as a cut off point, start fresh, and don't look closely at what came before.

The destruction of Aeons/Gods and temptation fits in to Apophis and Lucifer-as-a-serpent, but lots of things attributed to "Set" don't actually fit him (Set...

  • There's a scene in the almost-canon "A Dozen Black Roses" that has the protagonist use level 1 to change hair colour and length by running her fingers through her hair (While walking around a revolving door) coming out and not being recognized.

For a Blood point, things like that are good. Yes, big changes will need a lot of blood and that is an issue.

I'm not sure if "Sutekh/Set" was snake themed originally.
The Tlacique have Protean that has changed to Jaguars for the local spirituality (Though, under Protean) and there is an argument to be made that Serpentis could have started as Protean that was personalised. Some say Tlacique were the original Clan with Serpent - Setites as the (Very dam big) bloodline.
(Then Again, they could just be the most visible Drowned-Legacy)

It's really hard to specify details on the origins and backstory of Antediluvians when everything is kept purposefully vague....

Ignoring the sorceries, some clans/bloodlines seem to deviate on the number - Gargoyles get 4 including flight, Two Revenant lines have only 2 disciplines.

I think, from an in game reason, it's they same as asking why is gravity; it's a part of the rules that make the world and that is the best answer you'll get.

  • What is powerful/overpowered depends on what you want them to do in the chronicle.

    (V20)
    In Combat -
If blood is not an issue, then Celerity is the most overpowered. +1 dice to Dex or 2 attacks a round.
In General, and if blood is scarce, Fortitude is pretty good, it counters the potence in a one-on-one fight (Unless the Potence user spends their limited blood) and gives you protection against bullets (High risk for Ghouls) and anyone else trying to hurt you without potence.
It'd also be pretty good in day to day life, no more scrapes, bruises and small inconveniences...
