  • Here, you can rely on rules over realism.

One health level taken for a Blood Point of sustenance.
Time to heal the health effects as per healing rates.

Otherwise, the Bloodline that can only feed on their mage bloodline Ally (Impundulu) can't survive, ever....

  • This is a nasty path in a lot of ways. It forces actions that may not always be practical and makes someone do things that aren't always in their best interest or most expedient.
The Character would have to try and prevent and punish vampires that break the Masquerade, even friends or powerful enemies.

It may become difficult to play in a group, but I think it's sufficient for a Path

Talk to your ST. Describe your plan and then let the ST develop the stats. Maybe you can "Suggest" stats, but your character's skills/success on the roll as well as (Most Importantly) what the ST Want to allow you to have access to, should limit the power.

Also, most Official Vozhd creation requires something at level 6 to create - combo, discipline power, ritual. If you don't have that power, you're still making a Schlachta, just modifying a ghoul....

That is brilliant, A constant decision to lose humanity to maintain the ruse that there was no Diablerie. Roleplaying and Drama opportunities here are great.
And I can see this being a great test by the Tremere Hierarchy in general; are you strong enough to do what is needed for power....

  • Firstly Nosimplehiway your description is fantastic

    * Prehistory in Vampire and Prehistory in Reality don't blend however. The First Human; Adam was created from mud, his sons Caine and Abel understood Farming and livestock management, it doesn't match with our history as science presents it. Though Magic and Paradigm shifts could change the truth of what happened after it happened.
(It could have been that Evolution wasn't a thing, but reality was shifted so that it always was)

  • Interesting take.
There's a part in Queen of the Damned (Anne Rice, Vampire Chronicles) where they describe the creation of the first vampires, a spirit entered and bound itself to the blood of a Dying king and Queen.
You could have extraterrestrial forces or spirits from the Umbra (I think that mage says that they are the same thing?) that bond with an individual which creates each "First" of a clan (The Antidiluvians)
Kupala being the entity that "Embraced" [Tzimesce] and Viscisitude to explore the world and change it in ways that make sense to it's alien...

  • I'd looks at comparing it to Ally dots; power relative to the PC, but shift it down a few notches because a retainer is at your beck and call.
Background 5 to be comparable to Vampire character creation?

  • Some rules give them multiple attacks without standard splitting penalty, if you want to use reach rules look at DAV20.

The Best thing about Vozhd is that you can make up their stats and tell your players that's the way it goes they don't have to follow normal rules.

  • Assamites (If I remember correctly) were more Scholars, Sorcerors and Peacekeepers, keeping an eye on the other Vampires in the early years.

Baali - Don't exist for a while, but would be created during pre history; I'd suggest that this be a large part of the story you run

Setites.. There's an arguable one. Would they be worshipping their sire/grandsire as a God. Maybe/maybe not yet. If Set/ Sutekh goes for Devinity off the bat, they'd be priests, but only once they focus themselves in egypt. Trade would be dangerous, but very very important.

    Lasombra - Interested...

  • Have you factored in that now all clans except the Brujah have one discipline that no one else has access to?...

  • In Vampire, a discipline activation is normally an action, Thaumaturgy always counts as an action ... (Except for one path that explicitly isn't)
You could split - using whatever edition's rules for splitting exist....

I think it meshes with my idea of humane vampires - try not to kill. Tell someone off for killing for feeding while understanding the fact that the hunger is so massive. It's a great way to express higher and low humanity in 1-4th edition.
Even touchstones don't work for them because, while the main character is hesitant to leave what he's built up, he does so for survival without it impacting his "humanity" just the emotional fall out of leaving something loved behind....

Yes D&D changed a lot, First edition had "Elf" and "Dwarf" as a class next to "Cleric" But they also split things with D&D and AD&D as different systems.

In fact specifically the big change from 3/3.5 into 4 was such a significant shift; on scale to this V5 change that it is a good example to bring up.

Lots of people got really annoyed at the changes. You couldn't continue what you used to play in a lot of cases (but it had better tools for extending the kind of things missing) but so much was unable to be translated that people...

  • Bob, Just ask the Storyteller if they need help with NPCs, or take on a player's ghoul or something... 5 sessions isn't very much payoff for developing a complex character. Especially for a coterie to accept and trust a new vampire to hang around with them

As a few people have pointed out, when it comes to crossing vampire (Ghouls) and Mages; Every experience point that you put into disciplines is an experience point that isn't going in to arete or your spheres. And even with Paradox-free disciplines, you're probably losing out compared to someone that puts the XP purely into the mage realms...

  • That is another avenue - Having gunsmiths manufacture them.
The time and cost would probably be higher for comparable weapons if they don't have mass production capabilities.

The issue then, is the ammunition. getting a reliable source, even for the components if you have a bullet press.

  • As a counter point - Surely a single Tribe pack (especially Silver Fangs) should be able to be more unified by a gift from (Falcon?) than a rag-tag mob with one member of Royalty ordering them to get their S**t together?

  • I think that gun control would impede low level characters - like most kinfolk, a lot of ghouls and maybe even some neonate vampires. Because they now don't have a way to get a gun. But your general mundanes have a harder time too.

There will always be a black market for guns and those who will use it. Criminals and the Criminal minded; Those with ties to get permits through the layers of bureaucracy. - So Most Vampires will be able to do it themselves or trade boons to get it. They are generally more adept at blackmail and bribery, so getting legal versions or getting away with illegal...

Let me try and sum up MY issues, which I think are shared with a few others

Alright, lets use the tools analogy.
Lets call the Base system a toolbox for Storytellers and Players instead of a specific tool, if you don't mind

    - NuWW (as people are calling them) have said that they want the toolboox to be able to help make what ever you want, not just follow along with their construction plans (Metaplot)
Now, this is great, they're designing the Toolbox to be generally accessible and you don't have to build a log cabin if you want a Yurt.
    ...
