  • Short answer: yes.

Long answer: We wanted to include praecipati in Tormented, and the moment we included a history for them (ie how they were created) that also meant they existed for more than one scene. Not to mention that plothooks and rumours required an existence longer than 1 scene. And without those things, they're just stats and not really valuable enough to include in a Night Horrors book.

Both come with reasons why they breaks the mold though--Cuvier has a sublimatus patron keeping it fed (providing the fuel for physical coherence), while Project Ishtar is partially...

  • Anyway, things NOT to do.

Don't be too heavy handed. In a way you are playing the Divine Principle--you're mapping the Pilgrimage and the milestones, it's your task to guide the characters (and players) through the story, and you decide when to send in the qashmallim. So take a page from its book and, sometimes, do nothing. Just sit back and go 'girl, did you fuck that up & I can't wait to see how you get yourself out of it'. 'Cause the Principle surely (most likely? probably? in its own unknowable way) wants them to succeed, but walking the hard road is also part of succeedi...

  • Queer people are normal.

    Anyway.

The reason Prometheans don't fit in is because they carry a piece of (stolen!) Divine Fire and, man, does that poison the world against you. It echoes the queer experience (the negative parts of that experience, I mean) in the sense of being persecuted for something you just are. It's also a queer narrative in the sense of finding your people and your place in a hostile world.

Where it is not a queer narrative, is 1) Disquiet forces people's hands, and even the kindest soul eventually succumbs to it. In the real world, being...

  • Def. There's practical benefits to being around other Prometheans (Pilgrimage advice, and less Disquiet if you're in a mixed throng) as well as the emotional solace of being around people who get what it's like. So they tend to congregate and stick together. (Except maybe for Zeky, who are hella dangerous to be around even by Created standards.) So all Actaeon and Angel need to do is find such a community, and they're good for a while....

  • One of the things we needed to consider writing the core was "how do Prometheans find each other". With so few numbers, they can't just walk around until they happen to find another Created. Enter Azothic Radiance and Pilgrimage Marks, the latter of which would include warnings about clones. Rambles are likewise a great way to pass stories around, and the short story anthology has Prometheans using online message boards.

It's also good to keep in mind that "the Promethean community" in write-ups means the local Promethean community. For example, a clones' storyhook...

  • It plays with canon. The Night Horrors books are uniquely suited to playing with previously established rules because they offer So. Many. characters and the intent is for ST's to choose the ones that fit their setting. In this case the IC rationale would be that only one of them exist in your setting (or Actaeon and Angel are gonna hunt the same Created pretty quickly, which could also be interesting) and they're expert trackers when it comes to Azothic Radiance. Remember that Radiance is also the in-game explanation for "of the 100 Prometheans in the world, an entire throng and all their...

  • So I just read about the remnant known as Utley. Who made that Hollow because I fucking love the bastard

    That'd be Jose Garcia.

I set them up that way in the Corebook too. Sublimati are monsters, but they know it and some of them hope to be more (& sucks to be you if you're around when they find out they can't). They're supposed to tug on the heartstrings, and I'm very glad you continued that trend!...

  • Do the Pandorans presented get new Dread Powers?

Top of my head, two new Dread Powers

also,do the zeky get a full spread page? With stereotypes and origins and whatnot?

They don't get a spread like the corebook Lineages, but there's a LOT of information on them. Definitely two+ pages worth.

    Hi all,

I'm running an online They Came From Beneath the Sea! game for Con+1 this Saturday. We still have tickets available, and proceeds go to the Child's Play charity. I'm one of the authors of TCFBTS, and I'm very keen to host the game.

So come join us in Denton, home of fishermen, banana milkshakes, and crab people! You'll never leave. I mean, want to--you'll never want to leave. Yes, that's definitely what I meant.
