Nah, let's keep The Descent Inferno-free. If Inferno must receive a new book, I'd rather it be its own thing. Maybe packaged with an update to the Book of Spirits.

  • I've started up a tabletop game of Werewolf: The Forsaken 2E. We did chargen and the first scene of The First Hunt. We've got a former ice road trucker from Canada, a hippy (like, legit was a hippy back in the day) progressive political activist, a 20-something bartender and former Wolf-Blooded from a neighboring pack that kicked him out when he First Changed because they were maintaining a strict "1 of each Auspice" balance, a zoologist grad student who wants to map out the ecology of the Shadow, and a forensic detective (think Dexter). No Rahu, so that'll be interesting.

  • The more I read the chapter after the fiction the more I think I "get it". At this point I think I understand what and who everybody in it are. I thought it was well-written....

Answer the first: both. Smaug, Slender, or a Wendigo are all totally viable as Begotten.

Answer the second: it does explicitly reference Grendel twice. Once in the inspirational sources list in the beginning, and then again later. Beowulf would work as an example of a Hero, and a good one.

7 out of 10 is an objectively good score. That's solidly in "I will play and likely complete this at least once" territory.

  • They don't have ubiquitous anger issues though. They have 4-7 very specific triggers that set off their spiritual instincts. It's different from Apocalypse and 1E Forsaken where anger was sort of a constant that 'wolves had to worry about....

  • I noticed nobody has tried to summarize Mummy, so I'll take up the mantle and scribe something out...

Mummy: The Curse was the last 1st Edition Chronicles line before the new edition, but also represents the most thorough usage of the 1E-isms and conceits, such as weaving the 7 Virtues/Vices into the mechanics and powers and doing a lot with ghosts. By the same token, it's one of the strangest. In every CofD line before it, characters started off as fresh-faced newbs at the nadir of their power. They went from being naive greenhorns to (maybe) being uncontested supernatural badasses,...

My favorite Assassin's Creed is 3, then Brotherhood, then Liberation. I liked 1 when it came out but I find it hard to play nowadays. It felt more like a tech demo than a polished game experience.

  • I have to hand it to you WHW, I was too afraid to look conceited if I asked what people thought my voice sounded like, and then you just go and do it and everybody was cool with it. XD You make it look easy.

So yeah...I'm curious what people think my "voice" is like.

I mean, I think it does necessitate the use of a different language because of thematics, aesthetic, etc...but I see your point. Still, I think it had to be demonstrably different. I feel like part of it might also have been a reaction to the reaction to Requiem, where people were mad because it looked so much like Masquerade on the surface but wasn't....

While I understand that the abrasive nature of the first bunch of responses was a bit too harsh, I think that "They're different games" is still the most accurate, complete answer. After all, why did they see fit to change the nature of werewolf language in Forsaken? Because it was a different game....

    This is Forcing Doors again.

Just because they were nice and polite doesn't change that: they were just trying to improve their First Impression from Hostile (strangers at the door) to Average. Then they failed, probably because there were too many Doors (previous experiences sounds like a general modifier, probably +1 Doors in this case)....

I haven't watched Unicorn since the OVA, and even then only the first couple of episodes. If it was on Hulu I would have watched the hell out of it already....

I was going to skip Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans until it got an English dub, but honestly this music is telling me "No, go watch it now, you filthy pleb. Who cares about Wing or 00 on Hulu when you've already got IBO?"...
