  • Similar, but not equal. For one thing, one is explicit about what your character is experiencing: Hunger. On a scale of 1-5, this is how hungry you are. The other is more abstract, which means it can provide the same information ("I have 70% of my blood pool so, on a scale of 1-10, my hunger is a 3.") but that remove is important. You have to work harder to get the same information and it is easier to ignore. The second part is that with the blood pool, you know you have X invokes of Y power before you can't use it anymore.   • The difference in Hunger vs Blood Pool is two-fold. First, Hunger describes on what your character is experiencing while Blood Pool is a fuel abstraction. They refer to the same thing (you need blood to keep going) but there is a change in focus. Second, the Hunger mechanic is less exact. With blood pools, you know exactly how much juice you have left. With Hunger, you don't. You take risks and hope the dice favor you. This helps build tension. Resource management generally doesn't.
