  • You can run it like that. And if you keep hitting up Frank at thr library for similar things, you'll probably settle on the same tags when you hit him up.

Of course sometimes you may need to ask them for something else, giving them different tags, or may get in touch with someone else still associated with the Path....

  • With Caste Marks I tend to be pretty traditional. For me, all my Solars have gold Caste Marks, all my Lunars have silver ones.

With the animas themselves, I can be a little more open but I still prefer they have colors that make you think of the associated celestial body and the like. But I can accept a Solar with an anima that evokes a brilliant pink sunrise or the thin corona lights of an Eclipse, with a bit more leeway for accents

The Gods of the Aboriginal people may be very old indeed, but given how they (very understanably) don't really like sharing their stories with outsiders, I imagine we won't see an official write-up.

Shame, but I can respect when the answer is "No we're not gonna tell you our legends, piss off". In these cases then I would just run it in Scion as "Well they exist, but they keep to themselves and we as a table are going to conveniently not interact with them"

  • The design intention with Path Contacts is that yes, they get their dots assigned when the Contact is Invoked and those two tags endure through the session. Once the session ends, the dots vanish so that when Invoked on another Session, you can reassign them.

The Keepers of the World? Yeah, and they work because they're antagonists. Maybe some are sympathetic, but still bad guys. And yeah, I wouldn't want to translate something like The Boys to Scion....

Diana/Wonder Woman would be a Created Scion. And I like to think that moments like the events in the Wonder Woman movie happened in the Theaters of World War One in my table's history.

Psh, it wouldn't be at my table. I have a big dislike of Godkillers (and by extension Hero Killers) as a genre. If I wanted to play a story about a bunch of tryhard edgelord Tough Guys Doing Tough Things as an ego-jerk against Greater Beings I wouldn't be playing Scion.

I mean, seriously, that entire trailer felt mean-spirited and cynical in a way that really rubs me the wrong way. Yeah there's something to be said for 'Who Watches the Watchmen' but that trailer is exactly everything I don't want in Scion.

Unfunny jokes that amount to immature prats and "It's funny...

Legit concern, I suppose. Keep it at Hero level and the mechanics probably won't collapse and shatter around you. Possibly.

Some other advice: Guns, RAW, are kinda useless. They add a lump sum to their damage rolls rather than an Attribute, and as such don't gain any Epic Attribute successes. Consider a house rule that lets you add Perception to a gun's damage roll instead of the +4 from the tag.

Geasa in the Companion will break your game in half. I recommend banning it.

Similarly, Untouchable Opponent's effect of doubling your E. Dex successes to your DVs...

Like, next to no God writeup in 1e is very good but some are even more Not Good than others....

In terms of efficacy? Arete is probably the best PSP (not exactly a crowded field). At lower levels it's not really great, but once you get up there you're going to appreciate the dice, and the rerolls.

In terms of being fun? Arete is the single most boring Purview. It adds dice and lets you reroll.

Honestly the best reason to take Arete 1 is because Arete 2 requires it.

Also, warnings to your players: Any Birthright that isn't a Relic? Sucks. Half any given Purviews? Suck. If your players want something worth their XP, invest in Epic Attributes and the handful...

While I do like the idea of the Origin-tier adventure Aristarkos recommended, I went ahead and contacted a friend who knows far more about Aztec sacrificial practices than I do... And while it's good that you're taking steps to NOT present it as a savage process, there are some things he noted.

Namely, the intended victim, and the context of the offering. Apparently there's no reputable records of a noble woman being put up as a sacrifice historically (though there may be some casesin a mythic context). In practice, an overwhelming number of sacrifices by the Nahual people were either...

If you're going by "Stuff we have records for", then when Demigod hits I'll definitely be including the Anunna. And they're one of the earliest recorded religions we have, AFAIK.

If I include the Teros, they may be up there.

The Netjer, IIRC, are pretty old... And if a player asks me to play a God from Watcher and Sacerdos's Hittite Pantheon, they're in, but I don't think either are QUITE as old as the Anunna.

I mean the elephant in the room with the Teotl as a plot?

"Go tell this Cortez guy to go fuck himself" and have a Band of Teotl Scions fighting against the Spanish War Machine. Maybe they have some Sorcerers here and there, if you want to avoid bringing any Christian God into this.

Cortez can just be an ambitious mortal though. Sometimes you just need some very greedy people.

Edit: Also, as a general rule, I would go into a Historical Eras game fully anticipating that your players will decide to run RIGHT off the rails of history.

    And...

What the others noted. The game itself notes that the minimum is Artifact OOO for weapons. To be blunt, if that player were at my table, I'd tell the player "Look the rules say that artifact weapons take 3 Merit Dots. We'll design a different artifact, but you're not getting a Goremaul at Art 2"

Alas I haven't heard anything beyond the name, and a couple confirmations on what it is not.
    1. It is not the Scion Fiction Anthology from the Kickstarter.
    2. It is not some general Monster Manual type thing.
I'm putting fake money down on it being some kind of Denizen Book, considering that Saints are a kind of Denizen, and there are other Denizen Paths that some may consider to be monsters (Kinds of werewolves, centaurs...).

So yeah, maybe it'll be a book about expanded Denizen options. Maybe it'll also have advice on "So here's how to have more fun for playing a Denizen who...
