Question: What if the Totem Animal mimics a non-animal? If you have a butterfly that looks like a leaf or a mantid that looks like a flower, could that count for the Totemic Keywords of those Charms?...

More that I know a lot of Scion players I know take a stance against Uncle Sam ever becoming a divine figure in their games. Most of the 1e American Pantheon is... Not liked....

Pardon, is that a FLAT no period, or a No in regards to the Debt Face Charm, thus Dragon Kings are viable targets through a standard Sacred Hunt, or perhaps like in 2e where you needed a special Knack to perform a Sacred Hunt on a Demon?...

I admit it took me until I saw "Maiar" to place what this was. Maybe you could change the title to "The Ainur of Middle Earth" for those who aren't totally up to date on our Tolkien Cosmology Terminology?

    Oh PICKY PICKY PICKY! :P

Seriously though, at this point it seems... Unlikely? The devs right now seem to be more focused on progressing forward with new content....

"When will it be out?" - When it's ready.

"When will that be?" - OPP doesn't like giving dates until they're certain, which is usually about a week before. Right now the books are going through Indexing and Proofing, which is pretty near the end point.

However if you're just ITCHING for your sweet sweet Scion content you can go here and pre-order your copies, and if your preorder includes the PDFs you can get access to advanced backer rough drafts....

    replied to Non-Divine Pc's in 2nd Ed?
Yeah, you can be a mystical creature with no divine patronage, like a kitsune or a satyr (usually called Denizens). You get a unique Path (mechanic that helps determine asset skills, helps establish social context and background stuff) and often unique Knacks. Going as just a regular Denizen is, depending on the Denizen in question, will probably be a bit weaker than a PC with a divine Patron.

You can also, if you feel spicy, be a Denizen AND a Scion.

    ... I... I don't think that's right, at all.

I mean from what I've heard of the Local Irish Academic on this forum, you're right in that many of them aren't GODS inasmuch, but more likely were Folklore Heroes, some of whom were obscenely powerful. It's a bit of a blurred line.

Like... None of the Tuatha de were WORSHIPPED, specifically. They were viewed, I believe, more as quasi-historical figures, previous residents of Ireland until they lost the war against the Sons of Mil.

And I'm pretty sure a lot of the Christianization didn't try to turn them all into...

I'm gonna quote one of my friends on why he, personally, is emphatically not interested in making use of any "Abrahamic" writeup for Scion:

"Look, my dad's a pastor, right? I'm pretty familiar with the Angels and Jesus and other White-Bread brand Christian Theology. It's familiar to me. Things like the Deva or the Netjer, they're more interesting to me because they're new, to me."

You can buy Knacks with XP in 2e.

Your Calling Dot increases let you control how many Knacks you can have active at once....

I mean there's your Knacks. People keep overlooking those and you really shouldn't. Those are basically your workhorses.

    replied to Mechanics Questions
The answer is probably "Depends", on the GM and the situation and the strings attached. A Deva may get a 5-dot Astra after a Devotion's Reward.

As for the Guide question, treat the Knacks from the Guide Calling as those four 'Any' Knacks, able to be out in one of your normal Knack Slots

replied to Skill for creating and playing music?
There's mention of it in the book actually. See, there's no one skill for music. Instead ask yourself how am I doing this or what am I planning on doing this?

Is your song a specific genre? That could be Academics, which explicitly covers the Humanities, or it could be Culture for culturally specific genres.

Are you attempting to instill a certain feeling or influence people, even if it's just to enjoy the mood? Persuasion or Leadership.

If you're just playing music to play music is that the kind of thing you need to roll for? Writing music itself would probably...

Lemmie tell you about a thing called 'Artistic Liberty'.

A bit more seriously, from my admittedly limited knowledge of Odin and the Eddas, I can't think of an instance where Odin demonstrates any kind of special innate power pertaining to the sky and weather. And citing American Gods as a reason for that is like trying to take your advice of the Devi Kali from Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom.

    (Spoiler: Don't do that.)

Also also, conjuring a storm with the Sky Purview could be done with a special Boon if you want to do it regularly (as the game in no...

replied to [2E] Divine Parent or Patron?
Did this really necessitate its own thread rather than the "Ask A Question" thread?

Anyway, I use 'Patron' myself. Though it can be a bit murky. For example, a Deva, regardless of whether you're Born, Created, or Chosen, will likely call a Scion of theirs their child and think of themselves as that Scion's parent.

As for why it uses Parent... Artifact text from the previous Edition? The assumption that Born Scions are some of the more common ones? Playing with the whole pitch of "What if you're the child of a God?"
