A snarky kitsune who was 'empowered' by Inari... Because they were a little shit (as kitsune are). So Inari slapped them with a Divine Mandate and commanded the fox to perform 108 good deeds to help humanity. However, Inari, being a merciful Kami, decided to help this kitsune work through their parole by giving them Relics, and may even serve as a Guide.

However, this character's Relics would have flaws where if they step out of line, the Relics would either be weaker or just stop working, and of course the kitsune would be at the beck and call of Inari, what with the whole celestial...

Hey now. The Aesir would be against the kind of bullshit that the Nazis are up to. They'd have their OWN baggage, mostly involving their dislike of giants, especially Thor "Smite-First-Ask-Questions-NEVER", but they would be OFFENDED at Nazis using their imagery for that kind of crap....

Honestly, I think most governments would have a few Scions that various departments stay in contact with. Mostly they inform the Scions in question about problems.

I do like the idea of government having Special Agents who are told "So you're gonna be interacting with Scions, you MAY get caught up in their bullshit, here's some basic classes on how to take care of yourself. Please refer to our pamphlet: 'Oh Bugger, You're A Supporting Character'."

Edit: Mostly, the thing I go with with government agencies and Scions is that there's an unspoken rule that the...

My thoughts on how many governments interact with Scions is... Well, there's gonna be different results depending on how openly and officially religion is part of the ruling class and government structure.

For the sake of my example, let's assume that we're dealing with governments that nominally try to avoid being theocratic in nature (inasmuch as a government made of people, many of whom ARE religious, can be)

I assume most of them would keep tabs on known Scions that are active in their territory. The idea of having liaisons and contacts also makes sense. Hell, I can...

  • I figure there's a need for general practitioners who are taught the very most basics of magical curses and the like, enough to go "Oh shit, I should call in a specialist"

Like, unless you're going to specialize in breaking curses, you probably only need to know enough to go "Well physically you seem okay. Have you crossed any strange figures proclaiming that you will rue the day you crossed them?"

Relic Knacks are unique powers of the Relics themselves. They aren't meant to be ways to have extra Calling Knacks. So no, a Relic's knack doesn't count towards your Knack total, either at Origin or at Hero

Yeah, the Innocuous Tag could work. For major transformations that toe the line between changing and actually sommoning something nee, I would make "Can change to a small icon form" be like a one-dot Knack. Consider the Oshe of Shango in the Hero book, which is an axe that can turn into a baseball bat

1E's Magic Purview was dumb. And I personally think making a General Magic Purview isn't a good idea, since for there to be one you have to ask yourself "What even IS magic?" and then you realize there's as many answers as there are people in the world. Honestly, I think Marvels using Cultural Motifs is how to represent Magic. Given that the basic Sorcerer antagonists seem to mostly use Relics and stolen power to weave Marvels. So I figure there will be Knacks that help with Marvels, when Sorcerer Paths show up....

I saw some of those posts, and I think the problem comes from them assuming the game has far more mechanical rigidity than it does.

Like they seem to assume "Battered" is a singular condition meant to always be a -1 injury but the book never tells you that because it's a meanie. Except that's not how it works. And a book that may imply it does will encourage people to think smaller and more limited.

Now me, I'm aiming big. I'm gonna put up a setting hack for playing Magical Girls, Divine Edition...

Eh, probably not injuries. They're just cute names for wounds decided on the spot with their penalties equal to the tank of the injury...

  • The thing about Stun is, as Samudra noted upthread, is that in addition to the kinds of injuries it inflicts, it doesn't kill. That's the big thing to keep in mind and the big advantage. Much like Aggravated damage explicitly requires magic to heal. If, say, you have some kind of Curse on you that says you aren't allowed to kill people, or your character has moral reasons to not do so, a stun weapon would be a VERY good investment....

  • I've glanced at Trinity, I wouldn't recommend using it as a Scion Supplement. The two both use Storypath, but they're different ENOUGH that the two don't mesh perfectly. The two aren't exactly cross-compatible.

My groups and I have been getting by with just Origin and Hero, with occasional moments where I've talked it out with other fans, but honestly I've found the system to work pretty well without even needing to look at Trinity.

Edit: Anything in particular you'd like me to help explain?...

Echoing Watcher. That's Donnie Rhodes, he's in the Origin intro fiction. Bit of a celebrity because he's VERY good looking.

Mainly, in the World, Gods probably won't OPENLY manifest without reason. And they often need a good reason, as openly manifesting and charging through Times Square will lead to mass Fatebindings, which the Gods try to avoid doing recklessly. Belief on its own doesn't change a God, but what they do and associations to it can.

However, they're 'visible' in the same sense that in our world, the Christian God is visible in America. Each cross you see,...

  • Okay, first off, the idea of "Covered in batter" made me chuckle heartily, thank you.

Secondly, yeah, you probably would be picking ones that are more specific.

I mean, technically you can jump right to an Injured or Maimed injury, but there's no real advantage to doing so, as it hits you with a potential penalty greater than you need. And ideally you and the GM will discuss what kind of injury you take.

GM: "Okay, that hits, so his knife actually hits you."

Player: "Okay, I'll take it as a -1 Condition."...
