Right now Prometheus Chambers - the core process of them - are Black Box technology. Yeah, they activate Psion, but we have no idea how. Figure is a few decade - perhaps with the aid of friendly Mega-Int Novas humans will crack the process, but that's probably something that's going to wait for Trinity Continuum: Away the hell in the future....

Not that far in the past now. TORG has been redone by Ulisses Spiel as TORG: Eternity with in the invasion occurring in the present day. Aside from the main book, four very successful crowdfunding projects have run to give physical source-books and other materials for the Living Land, Nile Empire, Aylse and the Cyberpapacy. All of those campaigns raised over $170,000. The Living Land and the Nile raised over $200,000 each. The campaign for the main game got over $355,000. So, there's still a pretty huge interest in TORG even now....

RIFTS just struck me as a confusing mess where you could play anything you wanted as long as it involved giant robots and/or power armor suits with realistic breasts.

For my "extra-dimensional invasion" needs, I prefer TORG.

  • No the idea is that smaller states/territories/nations like Hawaii, Samoa, Guam etc take the basic concept of a unified military/political/economic alliance with common goals without getting into the hideous imperialism. That's why the name is different (The Greater West Asian Co-Independence Sphere). And of course with underwater habitation tech, these "smaller nations" might not be so small after all....

  • Perhaps Hawaii (both above and below the ocean) linking with Guam, Samoa, the Phillipians, etc to form the Greater West Asian Co-Independence Sphere....

It's not really about need, though. How many antagonists are really needed by other games. In Werewolf, you could reasonably dump the Pure/Idigam/Bale Hounds and run it as a furrier "Game of Thrones" with the inheritors of Father Wolf struggling over his legacy and squabbling for territory. But those beings deepen the world, up the stakes and provide common enemies to help unite the various tribes and packs.

Beasts are the Begotten. Not the Embraces, Created, Awakened, etc. On a metaphorical/Dream level, Lilith fucked someone and Beasts were the ultimate result....

It's not exactly about justification so much as necessity.

Here's Bob. Bob is Beast with a Hunger for Power. Bob is a Manager at a local grocery. He Feeds by bullying and lording it over employees (making them work through lunch, take unpaid overtime, bring the shopping carts in during a pouring rain despite the lack of rain gear). Bob is an asshole and by being an asshole he's pretty much able to remain at Sated or Gorged most of the time. He's got a small Lair (maybe three areas) and doesn't do anything really big enough to attract Heroes' attention. He's your basic asshole...

I liked your Dragon story. The reaction I posted would what Typhon might relate. A few people have called Beast, Dark Scion. That's part of my take as well. One thing to remember about Scion is that it takes place amid a backdrop of conflict with the Titans. Your Dragon story gave an excellent view of Beast who wants to build his Legend. It's understandable why some Beasts would want to build their Legend.

Typhon is the answer to "Why do a Beasts need to build their Legends?" While it might start as Cosmic Horror, the Typhon concept is when cosmic horror tells Beasts...

  • It's not that they're enlightened, it's that they choose to discriminate differently. A pan-sexual, transgender Black Latina who preaches Wiccan Zorostrianism but is wealthy is welcomed with open arms (and outstretched hands). A straight white Christian male who's poor is garbage. Like that....

    I dreamt I saw a lizard.

    A little lizard.

It thought its tiny cave was a lair.

It thought its quiet squeak was a roar.

It thought its puny spark was fire.

It thought it was large because all it saw

were the tinier things around it.

    It was wrong.

    Come to me little lizard.

I was show you a lair and a roar and fire

I will eat you whole and you will become part of me

And then you will be large....

  • A further thing to consider is that probably one reason the FSA fears and hates Psions is that Psionics can't be bought. No matter how rich your are, if you don't have the Psi gene/x-factor, you don't get to be a Psion. If your second class Mexican nanny has it, she does get to be one (assuming she gets triggered).

The Aeon era has room for a lot space/sci-fi stories. Star Trek exploration/contact on a Leviathan? Sure. Aliens bug-hunt Aberrant hunting? Of course. Post-apocalypse? Europe, especially France. Spy vs spy intrigue and secrets? The Ministry, ISRA and NORCA. Psionic...

    Your Mother needs you.

Beyond the abuser thing, one thing that's struck me about Beast is its lack of an "epic struggle" concept. Almost every other "splat" has an epic side to it along with the individual, day-to-day struggles.

The Forsaken are the inheritors of Father Wolf, forced to take up his task after killing him for the good of reality, even against Lovecraftian nightmares like the Idigam.

Mages have the task of closing the Abyss and Awakening the whole of humanity.

Prometheans spend their existence struggling to...

I went back and read some of the bits from the Hunter: the Vigil !st edition in terms of Slashers. The "boosted" form of the Avenger slasher was "The Legend." If your Legend was The Hookman, an angry man with a hook for a hand who disembowled "sluts" because they mocked him and caused him to lose his hand. One of the points of your Legend might be "The hook can rip though anything short of titanium." In which it can actually do that. Of course, if another part of the Legend was that Hook-Man is terrified by Teddy Bears, then that's a thing as well.

No real "almost" about it. In Trinity there really is not "Time Travel" except the normal kind of going forward at a normal pace. If you go into "the past" or "the future" you going into some parallel world. If your team of psions, psiad and Talents (or whatever) travels to 2230 in the middle of the Aberrant setting and somehow prevent the Aberrant War, well, good for them. It won't have any effect on the Aeon timeline.

Basically "time travel" works like it does in the Marvel Cinematc Universe in terms of dimensions and timelines....
