Granted, it also had a very poor understanding of 'barbarism' beyond 'kinda looks like the Conan movies'.

Honestly, the words I'd prefer for Lunars are less "barbaric" and more... I don't know. Nomadic? (But they can be settled.) Uncivilized? (But that implies some level of rough hewn impoliteness, and many of these cultures have quite elaborate social structures.)

Untamed probably works the best, given the animal motif. They might still be friendly, they might even be allies... but like Aslan, they aren't tame lions....

Yeah, Lunars are Anathema (and, in fact, are what most common people would think of when you say "Anathema"). That doesn't do a lot to win their love and admiration, so after the first round of "whatever they did to get on the list", it's fairly self-perpetuating.

And, yeah, please forget everything you know from Dreams of the First Age or similar materials. It is not canonical that Solars in the 3rd edition version of Creation were all terrible monsters. (It is almost certain a handful were, but what was done with said monsters has not been said. Maybe they got...

This is probably more for another thread, so I'll just chop it off at "the Guild can use magic too, you know, and they have the money to afford it." Although I would expect a 3e Masters of Jade-esque book to highlight the regional differences, the way theoretically allied merchants might conflict, etc, etc. (Then again, MoJ was written just as the writers were considering what a third edition might need, wasn't it?)

Anyway, Lunars. I appreciate that we're taking the distances more seriously this edition, but never forget great distances are a bit like the disease rules:...

One thing in regards to Creation-spanning organizations and long distances: quite aside from the magic and real-life counterexamples, Creation isn't actually a bronze-age setting. It's a setting that has had, like, at least three world-spanning discontinuity events. That we know of. Lunars especially have more continuity of experience where even if you don't recall the First Age, at most you learned from someone who learned from someone who did. Technology isn't just flashy gadgets, but evolving process and norms.

Lunars have magic, shapeshifting, and important reasons to keep in...

QCs are literally what I have done in *every* edition of Exalted, codified. If the problem is dice... give em more. I won't tell.
