  • And admitted that it was not a new edition of the game but a new game separate and distinct with no connection to or intended interaction with the previous game. Making the previous game an abandoned, no longer supported, concept.

While the transformation of the Tachi into Katana took millennia, the steel of the west varied so much that one might even say the Tsimisce had infected it with vicissitude. In the West, perhaps inevitably so, it is the trend to screech against the form of steel, shadow boxing it from within its tempered boundaries. In the east, alterations to the...

There should be no need for it.

You still fail or refuse to observe the posit. P:Q::M:N. Nor is your assessment of gramar correct. But that is the fault of an education system directed by liberals who abandoned good English decades ago while they were tripping at Woodstock.

    Good-bye....

  • Edition 1 or edition 1.0, Edition 3 or Edition 3.5. The slang applied in other games is influencing the perception of this one. I was suggesting we go against the Trend. Use Edition 1990 vs. Edition 2000, or 2010. Lump them by a decade or group of years used for publication....

Which is why I not only drank, but bathed in the Pierian Spring.

Hemingway created a form of writing based on never using words above a 5th grade reading level and debasing sentences to a simple subject and simple predicate. He did this to enhance his position at the Kansas City Star by creating more room for commercial advertizing space. The writing of the late 1800's is by far superior because...

  • We had a professor here in a town 0.38 square miles which insisted that if people had chickens and the chickens laid eggs that all the people in town would get sick and die. She knew this because she was a professor who taught about managing in the hotel industry.

I haven't quoted Kierkegaard. And I only use a thesaurus when I wish to avoid using a word twice in the same paragraph or sentence for the same meaning.

  • The implication was fundamental to the posit. Without it the posit had no foundation.

The dumbing down of the American Mind. It began with Hemingway and everything he has influenced is corrupted toward imbecility - to have no foundation.

If that were true you would not be limiting your analysis to sensual perception.

By nature all factual statements say a fact. It also has contextual meaning.

You aren't paying attention. I discussed the sections of the mechanics in 3.5 E (hence also Pathfinder) for conversion. Like most of what I state you ignore...

I am not responsible for a faulty receiver.

Yes, it did. Any intuitive thinker would see this. Since you cannot apparently perceive this way, you will be fundamentally incapable of understanding my statement to that degree of difference in perception. Since this is likely as much a focus of experience as hard wiring, it is merely a difference.

There is a difference between a rapier and a nuclear weapon.

Incorrect. From a sensorial approach perhaps, but not from a conceptual...

  • Context. The person to whom I responded had just described the gaming community as a collection of seemingly flighty skittering birds jumping from feeder to feeder convinced that just over there the seeds will be different. In the hand a blade cast in bronze and a blade cast in steel may seem very different, but it is still only a blade. Exploring the human condition by acting out morality plays has existed since the ritual telling of the Ramayana began in the Treta Yuga. Rolling dice as a form of gaming has existed since before 3,000 BCE using hexahedrons made from sheep bones. Tetrahedrons going...

  • I can see this analysis as probable in close to all circumstances. The community where I live now is 325 people and 20 miles from the nearest Walmart in any direction. The people I game with are on-line. The retail outlet in the area, which hosts nightly gaming sessions, is near a college - but I have no way of getting to it. My main source for almost all purchases is now mail order via the internet. As the internet sales format increases I expect retailing will continue to decrease, with produce outlets carrying non-perishables as a matter of convenience rather than markets carrying the wider...

  • First, analitical observation does not necessarily mean conclusion. Sometimes, it is merely a statement of observation. That is not necessarily a complaint; and this doesn't mean that I haven't had complaints - only that everything perceived as such may not have been one.

That hasn't actually been the complaint. The complaint has been that such changes are used to obliterate the value of all the collected materials. None of my 1st Ed AD&D was compatible with 2nd Ed. The difference in ST editions was not so extreme, but the result has been similar. Wanting to continue the...

  • Critical Thoughts on the Potential in a 5th Edition of the Game.

In another thread I was compelled into a confrontation over the nature of the ST System and difficulties in the current market. My honorable opposition is not an intuitor primary, and the difference in our posits has more to do with the division between the analysis of sensual perception and the analysis of conceptual perception. These are both valid approaches, each with their own inherent pros and cons.

A problem for all Fantasy Entertainment, is the combination of treacherous bubble and economic downturn. Real wealth incomes in the US, and the majority of the Western World, have...

  • GURPS was always too complicated and limited, though not nearly as much as say ICE or Fantasy Wargaming.
Munchkin is popular because it does not require mastery of massive rule sets, takes little time to set up, can be played by all ages, and most importantly is based in whimsy and caprice leading to laughter. It is because it can be played with the 7 year old as a family game that it is so successful.

I disagree however concerning the ST system mechanics - with the exception of Changeling the Dreaming, lol....

So, typical RPG customers do not like what they like...

The Story Telling system is already a universal generic system. This is why one can make a base character and then simply use an add-on sheet to track characteristics developed through game play because they awaken, are embraced, die, etc. So, if people don't want that then they should abandon the Story Teller System. What makes the Story Teller System superior is the very dynamic nature you claim does not exist.

    For two reasons:
    1) When the economy...

  • This is a product of both the continuously collapsing economy for the bulk of society and the increase in online sales which is cheaper than retail outlet models. Sears was the innovator in the late 1800's with mail order through catalogs. In 1873, for $5 it was possible to order work tools, a weeks worth of clothes, bridle and saddle, and what was effectively a modular home. Delivery via the new railway system was the equivalent of ordering online today and having it delivered by UPS. The games I play are played online now. Not one of us is in the same state....

  • So, all I have to do is live a millennium or two and the rules will become more reliable. Got it.

As I pointed out, there is nothing to prohibit variant themes existing side by side with the original meta - even contradictory plots and themes within the same facets radiating from a central source. Like Hawkmoon, Corum, and Elric all being incarnations of the Champion Eternal.

Which is economy dependent. The lower the economy goes the less this market will be beneficial.

  • I acknowledge that there have been variations of the game over the millennia these games have been around. There is a difference in changing rules every 200 to 300 years and changing rules every 3 to 5 years.

Horizon Realms are pocket realms, such as Alice's Wonderland, the alternate earth in the Gor Series, etc. Even the shadowlands of the Chronicles of Amber, with earth being Amber and the Courts of Chaos abutting the Far Horizon. So, I guess we do not have consensus reality here, lol. And the description of a horizon realm infers, the individual interpreting implies.

  • I have a slight meta-game shift, which fundamentally alters the nature of vampires. I also would incorporate a more modern experienced interpretation to the division.

The meta shift I have is based on the associate of mages with the Weaver and changelings with the Wyld. Suppose vampires are the remnants of the Bringer of Harmony, now severed from their "patron" by the binding of the Bringer of Harmony which generated the Wyrm. Suppose Cain isn't a literal person, but that previous state of the vampire expression or link to the Bringer of Harmony. The implications for...
