Thank you for your reply, I am not trying to be hostile and you are obviously more knowledgeable about it than myself, and I admit being a bit sore and worried about it to perhaps an unreasonable level. I am not Hindu but my stepfather and sister always have been very devout. We played the first edition scion together and we enjoyed it a great deal, until the companion came out and they were deeply hurt by the portrayal of the gods, to the point the campaign revolved around it and the game in general was soured.

I was hoping this version would be less so, and while you are probably...

  • Oh I definitely agree with that my issue is trying to figure out how ghosts get "claimed" by dominions. Mictlan exists because people who died believed in Mictlan, but Mictlan has no need to closely resemble the mythological Mictlan. It feels naturally contradictory.

For example: "Gehenna: After the fall of the Saintly Kingdom, this Dominion arose to take its place for Christians who maintain their faith against all odds" Gehenna exists because of faith, a direct creation thereof.

But canon also says Faith has no effect on the Dead Dominions.

So do I that's my problem.

But that's not the original one and it has become very popular to romanticize it recently, but it just felt very odd. That Gerda who gets horribly threatened in all versions of the myth, and the entire Greek Pantheon get an oversight...which I prefer, no one wants to play a game with authentic Greek Gods, at least not that aspect.

But Rama and Sita is supposed to be Romantic, religiously, culturally. But they get called out. If you call them out, then why does Gerda and Persephone get a rewrite?
Yes, the Hindu pantheon constantly war against...

  • But "Dominions are born in the lulls between generations of Sin-Eaters, a great upswelling of Essence and life within death" Mictlan was there before the mass killing by Cortez and the Sin-eaters that were born within it. That sounds like the belief in an afterlife to some degree....

  • Of course. The Dust Bowl, so during the 1930s where many refugees fled Middle America to California due to the Dust Storms from imprudent farming techniques. They were chased, beaten, cheated out of their homes, and often killed. That says nothing of the rampant hunger and "dust pneumonia" which killed thousands. It hit during the same time as the Great Depression, so these migrant families had a hard time finding work or surviving. I can't give you the precise where because I wish the game to move about a bit to kinda capture the rambling of the hobos and okies, but mostly between Oklahoma...

The Hindu Pantheon seem very different in Scion. They come off as the most Anti-Titan despite numerous myths of allying or joining with demons of various stripes. It seems odd they are on the forefront as compared to the Greeks. It also felt weird that the "love story" of Freyr and Gerd as well as Hades and Persephone (and perhaps the discretion of the entire Greek Pantheon) got sanitized as romantic where the originals were tales of capture and threats, but The love Story of Sita and Rama got called out. It feels like the setting made them a bit of the "bad guys" and I was...

    Need some Krewe ideas...

I am running a game set during the dust bowl with the idea of the underworld intruding on the living world.

My problem is I want to populate the world with a few Krewes and having trouble doing so. Making Creeds/Faiths and general rituals tied to it is a bit hard for me.

I had the idea of Fury Bank Robbers ripping up Mortgages and taking care of their dead's loved ones, but no idea how to turn that into a more cult-like feeling.

    Mourner reporters of the forgotten?

As far as Necropolitans, Undertakers, and Pilgrims, I can't really think of many...

  • hmm, I am confused because the books make it seem like the Dead dominions specifically come about due to the people who died and disappear when they are no longer needed.

Like their example was Mictlan was there for those who died to Cortez and the Sainted Kingdom was there for those who died from the plague. How is that not being affected by the core belief of those who died?...
