What exactly is the definition of Archmage/Archmaster? Is high Arete enough or do you need access to a Sphere level above 5? If it's the later, it would explain why Aleph is the perfect tool of Control while Tychoides wouldn't even need deprocessing - Aleph isn't an Archmaster. And since Control wouldn't want other Archmasters competing with their aims they would prevent new Archmasters from surpassing his/her Threshold.

The other issues were growing munchkinism in the metaplot and the merging of powers between product lines. Here's a good summary:

PhillyCuriosity Which book refers to Faraday? He's not in Guide to the Technocracy or any of the Revised Convention Books. He was part of the Voltarian Order, right?

Rock113 Yes. Haight was so overpowered that he broke the metaplot and warped the entire game, kind of like Dirty Secrets of the Black Hand.

Some Archmasters are just implied, as we don't have their exact stats. Tychoides helped found a Convention, was (is?) hundreds of years old, and lived offworld at the Cop. That's standard Archmage behavior. Kepler was ancient, too. Turing was key to discovering and reformatting an entire Shen into the Digital Web. That requires Archmaster power.

I doubt there are many Archmasters in the Technocracy today as Control would probably discourage them. Computer would definitely remove any new Iteration X Archmasters, at least until the Dimensional Anomaly, as they would be considered threats...

For the Technocracy, I wish they would introduce the idea that Technocrats are losing the ability to understand their own magic. One of my favorite sayings from physics is that "the universe is under no obligation to make sense to you." Quantum field theory might be one of most successful theories in human history, but it can only really be understood mathematically, not using common sense.

In the past, Technocracy super-science has been rather straightforward, even if it's like Blade Runner or Star Trek. What if it becomes so complex that only Archmasters can understand...

    Technocracy Archmasters

Is there a list of Technocracy Archmasters (Archmages) somewhere? For example, a list that includes Tychoides and Turing. Thanks.
