Would you allow Lunars to drop mutations they had in their regular human form in their hybrid form? If so would you give it a cost or allow it for free?

For example: Regular human Lunar is a tiger beastman, they have the claws merit and also the subtle merit to go with them. Let's say their spirit shape is a claw strider, so the player would prefer the claws to become obvious when entering their hybrid form, could they drop the subtle merit? If so how would it effect the extra merits they'd gain for going hybrid, if at all?
Likewise if they wanted a tail to drop off or change...

  • We've had it used in games I've played and yeah, I'd say it was a problem, but largely for a different reason, as it removed the story and journey of learning a new skill or ability and sometimes made people feel they had to watch what they said around the Wish-Granter in a kind of ugly, meta-ish way. I certainly wouldn't mourn to see them binned (as they're in my top three hated Infernal charms, only one of which I'd like to see stay) but I'm willing to see what a redesign looks like. It probably can be saved, hopefully by making it more of an obvious deal with the devil than the casual farting...

How humanoid does the hybrid form of HBT have to be?

I'm not sure it's all that harsh, no ambush sucks for the ambusher, sure, but they're still in hidden, still get to make unexpected attacks, the Lunar doesn't know where they are, or who they are, just that someone or something is there, a lot of the advantages of being sneaky-sneaky are still present. I actually like it for creating something of a stealth halfway house as pretty much every other charm interaction with stealth tends towards a binary or you're either perfectly hidden or you're totally revealed.
It sure does feel powerful, but I'm just not sure it really is....

Secret Sense only causes trouble for short-range ambushes, a stealth-archer sniper is still good to go.

If someone attempts to make an animal a familiar, but that animal is actually a lunar masquerading as an animal, is there any effect? I assume they wouldn't actually become a familiar, even if they were willing, but does the charm user know the attempt has failed? Does the lunar know it's happened at all? Is there a tug of sympathetic magic enough to know that some sort of bond tried to be formed (all the better for letting the lunar know to play along if they want to maintain the illusion) or is there nothing to tip off either the would-be familiar or the familiariser that anything has occurred...

  • As one of the players in Oz's game I was going to play a big, strong Full Moon but didn't want to step on Underfoot and Olaf's toes, and had already sold myself on a new concept by the time I realised it was going to be rammed full of social characters. Incidentally I think only one, at best, of the socialites has a worthwhile animal shape to battle in.

I found it very interesting that almost every player gravitated towards making use of particular attributes and others are significantly underrepresented, there's a lot of Strength, Appearance and Charisma charms going around and...

Do Tells always have to look like they are from the same source? In that, say you have paticular markings as your tell, could they be scars in one form, tattoos in another, fur patterning in another, as long as they looked the same (size, shape, location, etc.) or would that be against the spirit of the Tell?

Sometimes the subject has only come up at the time of the social influence roll, surely you remember the discussions about bodily integrity after all....

To the first, I see no reason it couldn't be the case, but I've never really felt any great benefit to the differentiation between Ties and Principles, I know some charms care about the category of intimacy but as demonstrated it's not exactly hard for a player to reword most intimacies it to fit into the required mold. To me intimacies are just intimacies and it seems very reasonable to have multiple overlapping ones towards the same thing.

To the second, all the time, sometimes it just becomes readily apparent that a character cares about something which isn't on the sheet and I...
