    replied to Storypath for CoD
    I have, once I work out most of the base mortal items then I will tackle VtR, MtA, and WtF.

    For example I plan on using something similiar to Psion Power activation dice.

    Spellcasting Roll = (Gnosis/2 RndUp) + 1 + Arcana

    This sets a range of 2-6 dice similiar to Psi score plus Mode (Arcana).

    So Gnosis
    01 = 2d + Arcana dice
    02 = 2d + Arcana dice
    03 = 3d + Arcana dice
    04 = 3d + Arcana dice
    05 = 4d + Arcana dice

    Tier 3 (Target Number 7, Max Attribute 6)
    06 = 4d + Arcana dice
    07 = 5d + Arcana...

  • I guess the question would be what aspect of willpower are you looking to measure or reproduce?

    Are you looking for the dice add mechanic? Momentum

    Are you looking to gauge your heroes relative to their challenges? Resolve or Composure + Integrity

    Are you pleased with the previous willpower mechanism and wish it was still there? Just port it over as it was Res+Com = WP pool (1=+3d or +2 static). Because Willpower was rarely a dice pool but a derived mechanism.

    My recommendation would be try Story Path without it first, you can always add it...

  • In my opinion Momentum is your means to influence the world or setting, you do not need the CoD willpower any longer.

    The vice/virtue mask/dirge always felt contrived. In some cases players started leaning to those for the mechanic benefit in stead of playing their characters aligned with them. Artificial vs natural.

    I agree with your assessment on all of that, I could handwave everything except the main villian and hero. The question or focus of the post was modifying or not modifying the Scale relative to the central characters, extras and scenery. So the rules recommend that a Scale 3 vs a Scale 1 is considered a Scale 2 vs Scale 0. It would seem this is to ease the math or enhancement successes.

    Here is the Scion section I am referencing:

    When applying Scale to two opposing forces or individuals, compare each character’s Scale and
    then apply the benefits of the difference...

  • Momentum but not really, we used to joke in VtR that beats are your reward for failure. Now we have a mechanic.

  • I was pondering a statement/question which I could not bring into focus until I read this. My initial reaction to Scale 1 (+2) vs Scale 2 (+4) = Scale 0 vs Scale 1 (+2), is do not adjust but stick with Scale 1 (+2) vs Scale 2 (+4).

    Now here is why

    All generic powers so don't read into it.

    Super Blaster Psi Villian hurls a psycho kinetic blast wave (Scale 3) out medium range and caught in the blast are our Hero Sunshine slamming a telekinetic barrier up (Scale 1) giving some protection, he is fine, his tech sidekick "the mouse" is unconscious, his...

  • For the most part I agree with you. Especially when you look at the release schedule. Shows where the direction was going.

    2012 Blood Sorceries 1e
    (almost like a Mage Light ritual system)
    2014 Vampire the Requiem 2e
    2016 secret of the covenets 2e

    I do find it interesting that secrets if memory serves me used the themes listed with each ritual. Maybe for backwards compatibility.

    Best regards

  • In either the Blood Sorcery book or VTR2 IT (2nd edition) mentions using the Blood Sorcery book but with a small exception and forgive me my books are not with me. But my point is in the Blood Sorcery book they point out several things blood sorcery can't do like deal with other planes, produce banes (fire), and I think make something permanent.

    So for example when you make a vitae reliqury or blood scourge they both must have a duration, based on the Duration factor you selected.

    Found it...

  • Wouldn't the blood sorcery item still be bound by the duration factor. Oh I just realized, the factors come from 1st edition Blood & Sorcery, with the second edition sidebar or note. So no permanent rituals.

    You should consider reviewing material for More than Human (MtH) and Aberrant First Edition.

  • I get what your saying, keep in mind I am going from memory (books in another state). I think there are considerations. Maybe with Fate, sympathetic link to the street urchin, sympathetic link to Sandros who are both out of sensory range (let's get some extra reach involved) or maybe extra Arcana. For me it's like looking through a keyhole there no immediate falsehood and I accept that I added the word immediate. If the mage opens the doors views more of the scene, components, links them the falsehoods become apparent.

    It may just be me massaging and interpreting as I want. Was it...

  • If they don't know it's a lie, then it isn't. The messenger arrives to tell the Lord vampire with his mage adviser that his loyal servent Sandro's is dead.

    Little do they know Sandro's faked his death and hired a street urchin to pass the information to the messenger. Now Sandros was fairly unimportant, the player did not delve further and let it be. The key factor was the vampire no longer used his summon discipline on Sandros. Had he used it, made the roll, the "dead" Sandros would have come a running.

    So this is a real game event setup by one player against...

    CoD to Storypath

    Please note that I have never found a grapple system that I enjoy as both a player and GM. They range from D&D 3.5 & EX3 (Overly complicated), to D&D 5.0 (Vanilla Bland), to Trinity 1E & CoD (Almost there but whats with changing initiative – oh my head hurts). So here is hoping that Storypath becomes the one! Does anyone have any grapple systems that they really enjoy.
