    Time 1 can let you do slipstream (Along with like every other sphere in the game) which is one of the best spells in the entire game. It's in HDYDT.

    Are qlippothic spheres just a reflavor or are their mechanical bonuses? I don't need/want extreme details but I recall one book basically just said "Qlippothic spheres are regular spheres but slightly spookier"

    Use life magick to detect how alive someone is. You use it on an undead. Since undead traditionally require Life + matter to effect them, you probably pick up they have some life force but so little they should be clinically dead. Congrats you detect a vampire. Or it flat out doesn't work, I'd let it pick up someone is dead or alive.


    Prime: You need prime 1 if you want to store more quintessence than your Avatar. Say you have an Avatar of 3. Without Prime 1, your max quintessence is 3. With prime 1 you can meditate at a node and get more than 3 (I forget if you technically...

  • Keep in mind you still have to wander around and hope it isn't guarded, or find signs it is guarded. Werewolves guard Caerns, ghost may guard some, etc. Other mages may guard it, it may be locked off from the public (Either because the Technocracy has a hold of it, some weird governmental project has it, or it's simply locked off from the public because it's a private mansion).

    Also the whole correspondence 2 thing, I'd like Prime hide it as well or atleast disguise it.

    I imagine some are flat out sanctums, and sanctums naturally have levels of arcane (Which would make...

  • For 2:

    Hell, I'd let regular humans detect nodes with Awareness. They wouldn't know it's a node but they'd be able to feel the type of node it is. This place 'feels calm' or 'is scary dude', etc. I'd let a mage get more info from it, that they'd know it probably has magick in the air.

    I'd let Prime 1 identify a node, Prime 1/Correspondence 2 to seek one out. Though it might also just pick up on anything 'big magick' as well, so maybe throw in Entropy 1/some more successes in it. It shouldn't be too hard.

    The issue is it depends on how they die. The Technocracy probably has cameras on alot of things, and those cameras may have spirit sight 'Extradimensional sight or some shit', that might catch a spooky ghost in action. Even 1 strange death would be enough to have some...

    I feel the same way.

    On one hand I'd love sets of rules for Nephandi/Evil boys (I'd like to play an infernalist myself, and not as 'I'm super evil' one but a 'I made a /big fucking mistake/ and now I'm trying to fix it) but like Dwight said, I feel like Whitewolf might spend too much time going "haha punch a nazi"

    (Thanks Whitewolf, for personally threatening to fist fight whoever would want to play a nephandi. I forget which book that was in. It reminds me of people in my college classes acting like they would stand up to a terrorist attack and save the day....

  • HDYDT or base M20 actually spends a fourth of the page basically laughing at the idea of using Correspondence 3 to teleport then saying "I used a cab"

    It goes through an elaborate as hell explanation of teleporting a cab to yourself, or creating one out of thing air.

    And then suggests using Entropy 2 (Or 3) and just hoping you get enough successes for a cab to just happen to go by.

  • Yes it causes paradox but heres the thing:

    Everything you do, barring TIME and only if you use HDYDT, only incurs 1 point of paradox per vulgar casting. Assuming you don't botch and ST fiat. This isn't to say this is a /bad/ thing, I think if you nuke a major city you should get some hefty paradox, but here's the thing.

    LIttle Jimmy the Mage does a Force 2 jedi push, and gets 1 Paradox because he succeeded.

    Little Jimmy is now big Jimmy and uses Forces 5 to turn an entire area around him into a hellish nuclear wasteland that quickly dissipates into quintessence...

  • I think Life 5 says you you can do this with just Life 5 (In HDYDT if you are using M20), and I think it suggests being able to do this otherwise with Life 4/Correspondence 4/Mind 1. There are some rules on what happens if one of you dies though.

    Also Life 5 lets you turn yourself into like 3 tigers and 2 lions. It's great

It's forces 2 to wrap light around yourself, you can't see while doing it though without correspondence 1/some other spheres. Forces 2 + life 2 if you want it to make your entire body invisible and not just the small area around you.

    I think making fire without prime 2 and using forces 3 would require Matter 2, as matter 2 is needed for basic transmutation and air ---> fire would qualify. Matter 3 if your ST hates you.

    M20 does suggest being able to do an awareness roll to dodge an attack that isn't exactly noticeable, but the rules are vague. Is the awareness roll the actual dodge or do I roll awareness + some other mental stat DC -whatever- and the shit ton of successes I get basically count for nothing because I just need 1 for "Alright you have permission to dodge". So it's either: I get 4 successes on an awareness + stat roll to notice they are casting a spell that will beat my ass and those successes count as my dodge, or I get a weird reflexive roll that only needs 1 success for my ST to look...

  • Why would flying be forces 3. Forces 2 is controlling forces. Forces 3 is turning one force into another. Why would you use forces 3 to control gravity/wind to move yourself into the air? Even the default magick chart lists flying as Forces 2. You grab gravity/your force of choice, and push it somewhere else to move.
    Converting forces is unnecessary.


    (Fun fact it also says you can fly with matter 2 but I have no fucking idea why/where they get that)

    It also lists Correspondence 3/Life 2 as a way of flying so I have no fucking idea what the hell is going on....

    There's a bunch of different ways, really it depends on what you want to do.

    You could literally just build mundane skills to the point where you are the perfect vampire slayer. Get access to any sort of fire based weaponry (Dragon breath shotgun rounds, explosive incendiary rounds, etc [These are hard to get but some points in contacts/allies/make them yourself is a way around it, all mundane]) At that point you can use your magick to just make yourself better at what you already do. Entropy for aiming/dodging/hitting weakspots, life for healing yourself. Maybe use life/mind/something...
