  • Encyclopedia Vampirica - missing text from Caine's Confession...

    So I was wondering if anyone knew what the missing text says...

    ​I received my PoD copy of the Encyclopedia Vampirica today and noticed that there's text missing from page 211. The text on page 210 stops mid-sentence and the next page is just a blank image with no text over it. You can see from the footnotes, though, that there's supposed to be text there. It's not just the PoD version - a little digging shows that the original print version had the same problem.

    Exactly - a much more insightful read of the text here . And M20 has done away with the idea of a restrictive canon (not cannon, lol) with its approach to the metaplot. It's up to individual STs to decide how they approach things. Just like it always was. M20 has just thankfully made it very clear. Good points all round ...

    ​As it happens, the only time this came up in our game, the character making the items had Prime 4 and Spirit 4, so it didn't really make much difference, lol. By the time the chronicle has reached that point, balance concerns become somewhat less relevant.


    ​Yeah, good point. I'd say you can choose not to attune an item if you're planning to give it away. These things should be flexible


    Yeah, it only really mentions it in the Effects charts, making the distinction between willing and unwilling spirits. Earlier editions didn't have this distinction....

    ​I don't see it that way, but YMMV . For Prime 4 to work in my game, the spirit needs to cross the Gauntlet first (or the mage does) - they have to be in the same realm, so to speak.


    ​I tend to rule that Awakened items (as well as fetishes and wonders) are automatically Consecrated to their creator - the process of Awakening or enchanting the item forges that resonant bond. Otherwise, yes, you have to forge that bond magically through whatever method you favour.

    Here's how we've been handling it.

    ​Spirit 2 allows to you summon spirits and bargain with them. If the spirit is willing and has the Possession charm, it can enter an item and effectively become a fetish. The fetish doesn't have an owner and isn't specifically tied to the mage, but otherwise activates in the usual way. Of course, spirits with the Possession charm tend to be unpleasant, so be careful with your bargain.
