Perhaps purchase the book from a used bookstore if you must, because MZB's daughter did come out and make very clear that her mother was involved in sexually abusing her and other children for years.

I can't speak for anyone else, but that's definitely not on my 'suggested Arthurian media' list. There is at least one very clear depiction of a child being raped under the auspices of a pagan ritual in the book....

I can't speak for any of the other writers, but I tried to frame that in my intro, for each of the things I wrote -- and it's called out specifically in a sidebar. The only real difference between the Danann and the Domnann is which matriarch they owe their declared allegiance to, which sometimes corresponds to things which were written centuries ago, and sometimes doesn't, because said matriarch has been actively recruiting for the last several centuries, giving people who didn't otherwise have a pantheon 'home' a place to land. (See: the first paragraph of Belenus.) It's in the first two sentences...

  • There you go. A third thing I did not put in that section. That is essentially what happened with Ymir, though (as written in the book, anyway, you do what works for your game), all of his Mantles at that time went to the kid who got his heart from Jord. If his Mantles had been split up, there could easily be multiple Ymirs....

  • Yep! The question is, are they separate beings? Are they two faces of the same being putting on a show (as someone pointed out above, there is implication that Domnu and Danu might be Mantles of the same being playing some long con)? Is there some third option I didn't think of when I was writing that section? It's up to the Storyguide. What makes the best sense for the story you're telling at your table?

David Castro wrote some great stuff for Apep and Apophis and he'd be very sad if NO ONE made them fight each other.

(Also Belenus would TOTALLY fight Belenos.)...

  • "So, what’s the real answer? Is Apep both a dragon and a Titan in one being, or is Apophis the dragon and Apep the Titan serpent? Are they two individuals, or one individual playing two sides in an endless struggle, pitting dragons and Titans against each other?
Again, the answer to all those questions might very simply be “yes.” That’s up to the Storyguide’s intentions for a specific chronicle. What looks like Apep and Apophis struggling over a single character’s loyalties, arguing whether she’s a Titan Scion or a dragon’s child, or fighting with one another over a...

Nidhoggr is a Titan. Níđhöggr is a dragon. What's the native language of immortal beings who precede all human thought?...

I'm not. I'm clarifying, solely and only, because I don't want anything read into what I said that isn't there. There is no hidden meaning behind the decision to differentiate one thing and not the other; it's a function of 'One person wrote these four parts across these two books, but not this fifth part in a third book, so the four parts that were written by one person across two books follow the advice written in the advice-giving bit of one of those books, while that fifth part written in a third book by someone else does not follow that differentiation-in-spelling convention.'

It's a thing where I wrote all of the pieces you're asking about (save the non-Titan Cernnunos) and followed my own advice about how to draw easily-understood distinctions in text....

Release schedules not necessarily lining up with the order things are outlined/contracted/written in sometimes determine which spelling got used first. It's really not any deeper than that.

Neither Nidhoggr or Níđhöggr are more "real" than one other in a chronicle that's using Dragon once it's out, and if you're not, then that sentence is irrelevant anyway....

Cernunnos does not give one hoot about the Titanomachy, and it makes me laugh that apparently people have called him 'evil.' He's not -- and indeed most of the Titans aren't 'evil,' and that sort of binary 'yes/no' thinking baffles me personally. What good would it be if we kept saying 'gosh, Titan is just a label that gets slapped on people, a lot of the time it doesn't mean that much' (which is said throughout the book repeatedly) if we didn't have an example of this one dude who got offered the ability to be an immortal dude being and said 'heck yeah, that's way better than trying to pass in...
