More like a Fomorian somehow stuck/hiding on Earth, really. Especially if you take into account It's power level in the novel.

Would also make a good True Fae from CtL....

  • Really, the Sabbat would work much better as an Antediluvian-worshipping Gehenna cult seeking to bring about the apocalypse. The role of 'elder-killing rebellous neonates who give the finger to the rules' should obviously go to the Anarchs (especially after the nice, Carthian-like redisign they got in the V20 books)....

The thing about China is, you can't really involve Pentex very overtly. The CCP has the corporate market there locked up tighter than an Arisen's sarcophagus. Even the few large, civvie-run enterprises like Tencent and Huawei are run by state toadies. Can't really see them letting a US-based megacorp that size buy a slice.

started a topic The Wyrm in China

    The Wyrm in China

I'm actually surprised at how little info there is on the Wyrm's position in modern-day China. The rapid industrialization, the extreme pollution, the bizzare state hypercapitalism and deep-rooted corruption & repression would make it an ideal breeding ground for Wyrmish forces. At the same time, I'd imagine the decades-long isolation of the local (mortal and supernatural) populance under Mao and the tight grip the state/CCP still has on most aspects of political life, society and the economy would make it difficult for traditional Wyrm agents such as BSDs, Pentex and the cults to infiltrate...

  • In a modern, corprorate context I'd imagine a Pentex-owned Midnight Circus as something of an evil version of Cirque du Soleil and Circus Vargas. With an unusually high turnover/injury rate for performers....

  • Do you know of any sources/maps that provide info on the domains of each covenant?

While world-spanning megasects like Camarilla and the Sabbat from VtM don't exist here, information on which cities/regions around the globe are run by the Invictus, the Circle of the Crone, Belial's Brood e.t.c. seems vanishingly rare. The only thing that comes to mind is an old blurb about Lancea et Sanctum being influential in the Catholic world, the US South and South Korea.

If anyone could give me any pointers, it'd be much appreciated.

  • Oh, I have no doubt the vampire world isn't a clear-cut, 1984-esque world map where: Camarilla - suburbs & downtown, Sabbat - ghetto & the docks and Anarchs - small towns and countryside. But I think the disparities you describe can already be found in big, safe, 'global' cities canonically under the Ivory Tower. See New York, Seattle, Paris, Rio, Berlin e.t.c.

On the other hand, I can't imagine better feeding/breeding grounds for the Sabbat than modern-day Caracas, Cali, north Brazil, the Appalachia, Chicago, St. Louis and pretty much the entirety of Russia east of the Urals....

  • I personally think the domains controlled by each sect needed a soft reboot, at least. Chicago, the Rust Belt, New Orleans, Venezuela, Colombia e.t.c have no place being in the hands of the Camarilla and Montreal, Toronto, Miami and DC make no sense being under the thumb of the Sabbat. Places like the US South, Russia, S. Africa, Brazil e.t.c. do. The socioeconomics and crime rates of many of these regions have changed a lot since the 90s.

Same goes with Pentex and the emerging markets & insanely polluted industrializing regions of East Asia and Africa.

  • Y' know, one thing that really surprised me is that Pentex doesn't seem to own a big-shot banking institution. Now, Consolidex is one thing, but a huge investment bank like JPMorgan Chase, Bank of America and (especially) HSBC is another. Not only would such a firm bring in a shiton of cash, but the oportunities to spread corruption and suffering via money laundering, backing of 3rd world dictators, predatory lending, debt buying and enabling housing bubbles (no doubt in partnership with Pentex real estate & construction firms) would be enormous.

    See the movie The Internation...

  • Tzimisce in VtR as an Abyssal bloodline

So I've been reading some Brian Lumley lately and, naturally, the Tzimisce came to mind. It occured to me that the Tzimisce, specifically the 'Souleater' Tzimisce from Dirty Secrets of the Black Hand would fit in CofD much better than they did in oWoD.

I'd imagine them as some sort of enemy NPC, 'rogue' Gangrel bloodline that started when its progenitor was roaming the plains of Eastern Europe and came face-to-face with particularly nasty Abyssal intruder and was turned into... something else. Probably something infectious (it can turn both kine and kindred alike), cancer-like (5
