  • Kavadi literally means "burden". It refers to the oblations and ordeals of a spiritual journey. Add an H and a ' and you have Kha'vadi.

  • I am using all of the new names and I am *trying* to get my group to catch on. The player of an old Etherite will roll his eyes and say "Children of Ether". Another player in-character challenged the Kha'vai name, which inspired me to look it up.

I think it is quite fitting and reaches beyond the stereotype

  • Threadomancy!
In my game last there was a question as to this name change. I gave the player a nod for the inspiration to research, and I think the word is of Hindi &/or Sanskrit origin.

What I am now imagining is that, in an effort to gain more unity between shamans of various global origin, "they" (the politically savvy scholars amongst them) chose the oldest common word they could think of....

But they *are* endorsed by White Wolf (Sweden).
I am not sure of the exact details, but on the Mage Facebook group page, he commented something about being contractually prohibited from producing certain types of material. He wrote "Mage Made Easy" (a great book I recommend), and I *think* that is the kind of material he is restricted to. As in, he might not be allowed to write a "Traditions Renewed" book or some such.

But *we* can. Any of us are able to write and sellf publish adventures, trad splats, or such,

I recommend checking that FB group...

He co-wrote Mage 2nd edition and wrote Mage: Sorcercer's Crusade. He was also a developer/writer for many books throughout the various editions....

Though it is doubtful, does anyone imagine a way that we can convince the powers that be to keep the M20 line going? The game seems to be headed towards a finish point of "forever incomplete". Who owns the material now? Paradox I think? What if we formed a kickstarter to form a collective to buy it from them?

  • Maybe it is for game balance reasons? Of all the WoD critters, Vampires are the most vulnerable and easiest to defeat. Just tuen them inyo lawnchairs and leave them in sunlight. Or conjure sunlight. A very anticlimatic way to handle an antagonist.

  • I just gotta say, Gods and Monsters is the only time I have seen an entry for Jesus. I have seen saints, angels, devils, and so on. Coming from an author who is an avowed neo-pagan, I felt that is was a well considered and respectful bit of writing.
To be open, I am a Christian. Greek Orthodox. I try to avoid being too direct about God in any sort of gaming. It works more harmoniously to treat it as a mystery.

  • I would suggest using the divisions of Subtle/Uncanny/Extreme, as presented in "Mage Made Easy". I introduced the concept to my group yesterday, and they gave it the stamp of approval.

  • My initial read of the RAW was that Archspheres were nixed, and I even stated as much to my group. But the other day I discovered the part mentioned in this discussion, where they technically might exists but it is suggested to avoid them. M20 does a lot of that. It *almost* makes a command decision on several things, proposes a new way to do something and states it is now the standard presumption, but then includes a small line or two about how to do it the other way anyways. I *do* like the flexibility, but it takes up space and causes confusion. Still, I would rather have it than not have it....
