  • I like the sound of your project so far, Beast doesn't get as much attention as the rest of the CofD, and having an example of the kind of stories it can support could do a lot.

Also, how detailed do you want these hypothetical side characters to be, if you intend to go through with submissions? Just an appearance, a snippet of personality to go with them? Nothing but a bare-bones concept? Guidelines can help.

  • If I had known about the werecrocs I would have backed this. Now I have to regret it.

  • Personally, I think there's a shortage of classic horror archetypes left that are iconic enough to be full splats. That's an opinion, everyone is free to disagree of they want.

What I would like to see is more of a book devoted to several minor templates and merit-based supernaturals, aiming to cover a variety of smaller thematic spaces instead of one larger one. And barring that, just a broader and deeper focus on the splats that already exist.

  • Princess: the Hopeful was my entrance from years upon years of reading about the world of darkness, both classic and what would be called chronicles later, into actually playing in the setting. I didn't get far, but I still started. So it has a special meaning to me. I love the idea that the PCs can push back the dark a bit, not that they necessarily will, but that they're able to have a meaningful victory.

Siren: the Drowning gets the runner up spot from me, and I wish there was a 2e version of it. It isn't perfect, but it has a number of good ideas I would like to see in actual...

  • I've considered the possibility of running a dark spin on the original Kamen Rider, from the 70's. The basic premise of "A strange fascism and blood-sacrifice based organization is kidnapping people to experiment on them for a supersoldier project, the PCs are a lucky few who escaped after being experimented on, but before brainwashing." Is extremely similar to the basic Deviant origin.

Shocker's methods of combining cybernetics, bioengineering, and black magic to create monsters that are dangerous even to their own forces, but too useful to stop producing, would fit right...

  • So, KotE, but in CofD? I'm not entirely sure about that idea, but it is an option.

Edit: I'm sorry, I think this came off as a bit hostile or condescending, it wasn't meant in that way....

  • If I were ever to run a game of Ascension (Despite my cripplingfear of STing any game), I would opt to portray aspects or interpretations of god as spirits, but have it clear that they are not necessarily the 'real' thing. Sure you can go into the umbria and meet the Father, or the Son, or the Holy Spirit, but you can just as easily find Odin, Zeus, Brahma, and James Bond. Multiples of each, even, for every popular interpretation.

I feel Mage works best when the universal truth is ultimately ambiguous and partially subjective. All paradigms are correct, as long as you're working...

  • Nephandi souls are damaged to the point that not even reincarnation can resolve the matter. Some were Traditionalists or Technocrats, recruited of their own will. Many were forced into it by torture, and worse manipulations, if not just dragged up to the Caul and hurled in screaming.

Regardless of how willing they were, once their soul has been maimed like that, they can't be anything but Nephani, no matter how many incarnations come after. That's an absolute, with no examples of anyone managing to change it.

Technocratic conditioning is thankfully less severe. Technocrats...
