  • Hm. Incorporating the worst of human and wolf, eh? In any case, it's one reason why all-out war with vampires isn't a good idea. The leeches spend much of their time messing with each other as it is.

Garou/Kindred negotiations must be weird. In a stable city, it's entirely possible a sept'll end up talking to the same damn vampire even centuries later.

  • Well, that's a good indicator then. It totally could've been created under their jurisdiction. Another question regarding the same topic would be, is it an approach the Nagah would take?

As far as I am aware, they claim to be the judges and executioners of Gaia. They seek to punish Fera and others who strayed too far from their "righteous path", often through cover murder. In this manner, poison is very fitting; it also fits the snake themes. However, it's a rather individual approach. Unless they condemned all of werewolf-kind, or took the stance of culling their numbers...

  • Seems to be a running theme with messy criticals and the Hunger system. Not overly fond of that myself. It feels patronising. But yes, you have a point. Perhaps those rolls could've resulted in something less, well, kill-y?...

  • I am in awe at how fast you spin the modest Wolfhome idea into such an interesting story hook.

Nagah, hm? Apologies for my ignorance, but were there Nagah around in those places Wolfsbane evolved?

  • Good points. Plus, there are Antonius and Erik Eigermann, who are supposedly broodmates and both of them Ventrue of the fourth generation. It's not totally clear whether they originally came from Gaul (the region they first became known) or arrived there later.

Oh, another thing. Set was also the God of foreigners. It might not mean anything, but, well, perhaps it does....

  • Are those characters if yours Humanity 8 vampires, though?...

  • Ah, got it.

Also, I second Matt's question above. Why is a Humanity 8 character literally shooting helpless opponents in the face? Your call sounds reasonable. Perhaps, though, you could give us a quick summary of why your player thinks differently? As in, what's his argument? Unless you feel that would be indulging him too much on this and create further problems....

  • There are a bit too many fourth-generation Ventrue for there not to have been a true Founder. Interestingly, they concentrate around Europe; Veddartha established the Danava in India, Arakur of Ur in Mesopotamia, and Nefer-meri-Isis roamed Africa, but most of the rest laired in Western or Central Europe. Maybe [Ventru] came from there too? Their oldest childe was supposedly Artemis Orthia, who ruled in Sparta....

  • True, but I meant "Thinbloods" from those ancient, powerful vampires' viewpoint, not the mechanical entity For a fifth-generation Toreador, a tenth-generation descendant might as well have rainwater in her veins....

  • Younger vampires and/or those with high generation need more blood to survive. The older you are, or more powerful your blood is, the less often you need to drink from mortals.

This is a major reasons vampires didn't depopulate entire tribes many thousands of years ago: They just don't need as much, as frequently. That doesn't mean a single Elder couldn't drain a family, or a small village, all by herself—she wouldn't need to to SURVIVE, but maybe she needs fuel for her powers, to heal after a difficult battle, or has many ghouls to feed... and, well, blood tastes really, really...

  • [Ventru] is one of the simplest to write as having been female. If I remember correctly, nobody remembers having met them, not even their childer, or they're not talking about it.

  • "Revenant families" are named thus because their members have an exceptionally high chance of returning after dying. Many are Embraced as vampires (duh), many linger as ghosts, and many become Risen; partly because of their utterly horrible lives leading to many, many, MANY emotional problems, but mostly because they already carry the taint of undeath from birth.

The Antediluvians all seek to transcend in some form. Some physically (Lasombra, The Eldest, Ennoia for example), some spiritually (Saulot, Cappadocius, Sutekh), some we don't yet know how.

    The Second...

  • I actually really like this idea. Some of the most powerful of them are already nominally in the Sabbat, so they could in turn push the Giovanni towards the Camarilla or the Anarchs. Plus, the Harbingers, the Samedi and the Cappadocians all look like corpses so they share one weakness across the board....

  • Question. The way you describe it makes it sound like the first kill happened during combat rather than after. Did the "incapacitating shot" end up killing their opponent rather than shooting them dead after they were already down, is that correct?

  • Also, something I never got about the Nosferatu. Both original and the revised Clanbook did it. The whole idea of Cleopatras, of taking beautiful people and turning them ugly out of spite. That's so often brought up, yet nowhere ever is one of the most natural results, I feel, properly explored: That trapping people in their own personal hells for eternity will make them resent you. Badly.

The Nosferatu should have a massive problem with childer killing their sires in revenge. How come there isn't a template for that? That makes for a PERFECT player character.

  • I thought about that too, and what came to mind was "Auspex for telepathy and all that, Animalism as masters of base creatures... what's missing here is something like Dominate to make them true masters of their domains."

And then I realised that's the Old Clan....

  • What about the ancient conflict between the Shadowlords and the Tzimisce Koldun over freeing Kupala? Both sides used enough mystical firepower from the sound of it. Main issue is that it predates the Black Spiral Dancers significantly.

As for the other Fera... who wouldn't want to take a good dose of poison to the bastard wolves? Sure, the Gurahl wouldn't, it's kind of their antithesis. However, what other Fera lived where Wolfsbane is plentiful? The writers stripped Europe bare of non-Garou shifters, unfortunately. Perhaps a gift of the medieval Ratkin? What other options are th...

  • Apologies for taking longer to answer, there were circumstances outside my control. So!

Both options for Wolfhome sound promising. The initial writeup I remember was of a realm with a particular purpose, as you noted, that could have changed along with how utterly horrible and corruptive the World of Darkness actually is. With spirits that might have been more in line with the Wyrm of Balance, at least in the beginning; hunters in our world can be professionals trained in protecting nature and wildlife (they need at least three years of study where I live!) more akin to forest rangers,...

  • How d'you come to these numbers? Specifically, number one? From the things I did read, the impression I got was the leading causes for Garou death were Random Monsters, followed by Spirals, folllowed by everything else. Are their rites really that lethal?...
