  • It doesn't look like it was retained outside that book, on the other hand it might be a worthwhile addition depends on how you want to run things.

This is probably the important question. 65 Era Military gear is.. not what the the book is saying military gear is its Modern. Kevlar was not incorporated into Military body armor until the 70s. This is before the fact that the Sabbat generally has less access to control keys on the military and thus anything like that.

The relative widescale proliferation of easy access to advanced armors is a recent thing. I'd argue Sabbat would be lucky to have +1 armor available....

If the Prince just wanted someone executed, he'd do that. IF he wanted some special underling to get closer to his gen.. he'd do that. Blood Hunt is the most special of public methods of punishment. Everything that could have been done up to that point has been taken off the table....

Mortis was a linear discipline when Necromancy was a linear discipline. In Revised Necromancy became blood magic. Then whey they updated Dark Ages Mortis became a blood magic with unique paths being developed by the Giovanni. It wasn't supposed to be like the Malkavian thing its like how the Bushi were always Kuei-jin...

I interpret that as not a reward for the diablerist but a punishment for the diablerised. You pardon the person for doing what you wanted them to do as Prince. Blood hunt is not execution or Exile its the ultimate punishment. If you want to get some gen by eating someone and do so "legally" what you do is set said person up for it. You get the prince to hate him so much that he wants you to eat his soul. You don't do that with simple boon trading....

Diablerie is not a reward in the camarilla. It is the ultimate punishment. If a player has the idea "i'm going to trade boons for this" I'll just politely remind them of this fact. That this is not how I run the game and they shouldn't consider this a possibility. If you wanted Easy Gen you should have bought the background.

That being said if I were running the game in "Simcamirilla' Fashion and a character tried that. A blood hunt would be called on the person who tried it, because irony is delicious....

The updated version of it removed the "can't change a living thing's form" part. So yeah go nuts. Want to bring the dead back to life? Turn Lucifier into a Japanese schoolgirl? Turn off the Sun? have fun...

Only reason I suggested requring some lower level of understanding is you probably need to have some "First aid" applicable skills before you hit "heart surgery"...

Do you consider stuff like Xalosec from State of Grace to be acceptable? He's full on created for that book. But its a religion held by Kindred....

  • This is pretty much how I see it. Your "main characters' (kirk, spock, Picard, Data, etc) would be your mages. Your reoccuring specialists would be your enlightened citizens and there'd be plenty of redshirts. Of course those redshirts are coloniel Marines...

Yes the Traditions might have their cults/consors/etc with them but the Technocracy in general has MUCH larger extended footprint of Extraordinary citizens, Killbots, and proles. So there are more mages in the Traditions but even counting consors, allies, familiars, cults the Technocracy easily out numbers them....

  • Because you had so much chance to refuse before! If the prince is going full iron gauntlet on you vs the velvet glove he could do that anyway. So could a primogen. The only way to become a less expendable pawn is to get good at things and well diab helps. The good little Fledge who can't get something done is going to get fed to the first hunter/sabbat seige and no one is going to care....

Level of Ritual x 5 with the obvious "you need at least one level 1 to buy a level 2"

  • I'm going to go with the idea that the Technocracy generally has the advantage in extended resources while the Traditions probably have more Awakened members. That the Technocracy is a solid core of Enlightened surrounded and enhanced by a much larger group of Extraordinary citizens that in turn is buff by alot of mundane muscle.

Your average Ethercraft probably has more enlightened personel per area but VE ships are bigger and have the advantage of having unenlightened guys with guns.

  • pre v20 it doesn't give you anything to go by for fetishes like "what is a level 1 fetish" except "see werewolf" for your whole of it. V20 version actually gives setups for what happens.. and its much more fun than "Spirit escapes" its possession.

There are healing potions... you can get roughly ten of them from an adult human being with very little ritual! But actual healing rituals: Recure of the Homeland, allows the healing of one extra Agg per day and requires soil from the city or town of the character's birth. And way of the Wendigo that...

  • I'd say spirit Manip is ALOT alot easier to use than it looks like, though I do prefer v20's version which is less "lol see werewolf" and actually says what you can do with it.

But generally I think more thematically appropriate than some "path of blood enchanting" is probably a whole bunch of rituals that allow you to do "One thing" like Bone of lies, or Milk of set, or Gargoyles. One thing to do is to always make it "creepy" its blood magic. You shouldn't be able to enchant swords to just be lighter or robe to be a bit stronger, yes...

I am saying the books go back and forth whether being a hedge mage makes you more open to the idea or less. The Order of Hermes seems to have a good method of doing so, but that might be a property of the Hermetic Paradigm....
