You have to consider that there are many more wraiths than vampires. If every vampire in the world were a Giovanni, they will still be in a huge numerical disadvantage.
When you add that wraiths also have arcanoi, it's just impossible for the Giovanni to brute force an empire in the Shadwlands, no matter how much some Revised authors wanted to make you believe so.
The way I see, Necromancy would allow them to bully small fish, but not to play in the Underworld big leagues. If they are clever, and very strong, they could ally with a local faction and make a good profit out...

This is a really good take. I have always thought that Judeo-Christian mythology in a time when Jewish religion was a drop of monotheism among an ocean of different politheistic beliefs didn't make any sense. I will definitely use this material for my year 340 BCE chronicle

This is partly my perception as a person who spent 10 days there and partly a conversation I had about the issue with a local sociologist.
An interesting characteristic of Rio is that the favelas are on top of the hills, and dispersed all about the city. So, even though there is a class separation, it is more porous than usual. You can see this at the beach, because Ipanema or Copacabana are frequented both by middle class inhabitants from these neighbourhoods and from dwellers of the favelas above...

In my current game I have determined that older vampires who become wights don't go on a sudden killing spree and behave like animals.
Instead, their Beasts have become more sophisticated and patient with time. They don't want to go in a big bang. They want to enjoy the situation. Obviously, in a matter of a few months any semblance of it will be gone, but for a group of Neonates trying to defend the masquerade that will be too long...

Exactly, that's the way I'm playing them in my Chicago 1991 game. They keep manipulating pawns instead of going for the final blow because deep inside they know their existences would be empty if they won. I don't see them in the opposite end of the humanity spectrum, but both sit at low (2-4) humanity.
And this story is clearly and lovely paralleled by the Payne's, who are actually really cool characters.
I am even playing with the idea that Helena and Melene were lovers for a time in Carthage. After Menele left the city on his mission their bond weakened a lot, but it's still t...

I was definitely thinking on having a look to Wind from the East, not that much because of the Buddhist angle as from the Mongol one. My understanding is that the Cossacks, who actually had a significant role in the war both in the southern and eastern fronts, may have been strongly influenced by Mongol and Tatar culture, so I am thinking of having some remains of the Anda bloodline still present in the conflict...

Regarding the Hungry Dead, I haven't decided anything yet. The Far Eastern theater was basically irrelevant and I can't really image any serious vampire involvement. Maybe some Japanese soldiers killed an Autarkis in Vladivostok, but who cares.
The revolution will be a pure Cainite affair in that sense, because the focus is not the Human Revolution, which was a massive one, but how a relatively low amount of vampires used this revolution as a cover to implement their own revolt against the Elders and to explain how the Soviet Union ended up ruled by a Brujah Council that mirrored their...

I was aware that "the Protocols" had been published in Russia but I didn't know the name of the organisation, so thanks for the info. Ignoring antisemitism in the setting would be a mistake, in my opinion. And both sides were guilty of it. Trotsky's origins were certainly a decisive factor on him being sidelined in favour of Lenin and Stalin...

I am fully aware. It even touches my sensitive political buttons, as my political ideas would have placed me in the side of those betrayed by the bolsheviks. So I am planning to show the civil war as a struggle between four axis (red Vs white, but also freedom Vs authoritarianism in both sides) and to show how war and violence paves the way for authoritarians to win (an issue that is still relevant nowadays)
And regarding the Russian topic, my idea is to break the unidimensional stereotypes present in the WoD so far (although the small entry in Victorian Age seemed to be going in the right...

ST Vault idea research
Hi all!
I am considering the idea of creating a supplement for the Storytellers' Vault.
Before starting the hard work, I have decided to do some market research to see if people would be interested in the supplement.
The idea I am working with is a V20 supplement set during the Russian Revolution and Civil War. I would deal with the birth of the Brujah Council, it would show different Anarch societies that would not survive the civil war and the Council repression and, of course, it would explore an area of the WoD that has barely (and badly) been described so far.
I...
