    Well I think this is a very subjective, and somewhat thorny, subject to discuss. It all depends on how well you can hide your intentions and how well your players can read you, how forthcoming you are, how much do you care to be seen as railroading, how much your players care for being railroaded, etc...

    But the general system works like this:

    Att+Skill to attempt something. In this case a player can attempt to find food/shelter/medicine with Survival. The Storyteller says what, if anything is found. With the Charm the player can say what he finds. As with most things,...

    I see where you're coming from, but that is the deal with the whole "introduce a fact" shtick.

    It surely tests the ST's flexibility and ability to roll with it. Any kind of power that gives the player an opportunity to create part of the world outside of their characters will stress pre made stories.

    In the case you cited if you really wanted to have the player go to the other forest you could stage an encounter where the herb patch in this forest is ruined or inaccessible for some reason. It is good to keep your players' powers in mind before leaning too heavily...

    Well, as previously stated, it all depends on what you allow baseline Survival to do. As an ST, you can declare that, regardless of a Survival rating or success on a roll, there is absolutely no food/shelter/medecine in a certain area. This Charm lets the player say there is.

    It's value definitely varies according to table, as most things.

    Chase rules are modeled through Rush, Disengage and Withdraw. If you reach an impasse through those, you can shift it to a Test of Speed, which could a be an extended opposed action with a target number, if the person fleeing reaches the target number first, they escape, if the chaser wins I would put them in combat in close range with a new Join Battle....

    Have you played Xenogears for the PS1? The GEARs were always awesome imo... They were a tool of war and transcendent magic and I think it may jive with what is in Creation, with a much toned down technology level, of course, with a big focus on the special ones.

    Yes, I don't believe anyone would argue that.

    I'm just saying that people weren't crazy or delusional when estimating the size of Miracles, because despite having made a set number of custom charms available for purchase, those were supposed to (and did) come with developers notes. And the estimation of the space those notes would take are probably what threw the wrench at that estimate machine.

    It wasn't "We have 50 custom charms for sale, assuming we sell them all, what is the size of the book? 50 pages! Cuz Charmz!". It is really hard...

    Well, one thing that seems to be ignored on this whole charm count per page for Miracles is the also clearly stated:

    You can Add-on the Custom Charms Compilation PDF (50+ pages with developers notes, as per the Reward Tiers to the right)

    So, the estimate was not that each charm would take a page, but that with developers notes, it might average out to that.

    Who the hell knew how much space the developers notes would take?

    So we were never promised 50+ pages full of charms, but a PDF with the Custom Charms Compilation and their developers notes,...

    I'm not getting what you mean here... Is this subject buying rule from past editions?

    Because in Ex3 a subject can be bought for 3xp as a specialty, and Harmonious Academic Methodology lets you get one for free every story.

    A few questions to clarify some rulings that have been made in a game I'm playing in for a little over a year, because we just made Essence 4 (having started with the advanced character creation rules) and, with Power-Awarding Prana, Spirit Stoking Elevation is coming to play:

    In the Solar Experience section of the character advancement rules it says it (SExp) can be used to pay for charms that cost Experience.

    When intersected with Flowing Mind Prana, I see it as it turning that SExp into regular Exp, to be used in raising the Atributes and Abilities, as says the Charm....

    The preview is awesome! Now for a question/observation:

    Step Between Seconds says you can't use Simple-type Charms yet Aeon Wheel Turning, a Simple-type Evocation, mentions it's use during Step Between Seconds.

    Is this a specific case of allowing this specific Evocation (Aeon Wheel Turning) during Step Between Seconds?

    Is it a case of Evocations <> Charms and any Simple-type Evocations can be used during Step Between Seconds?

    How we play is that Evocations rules are basically Charms that comes from Artifacts, and while I don't see anywhere...

  • As a mid 90s V:tM player who came on board with V:tR at launch, to which I own (or owned at one point) all the books... V:tR2 is just a much better game, IMO.

    I really couldn't care less about "balance" of powers, in single-splat games (actually I could care even less, in cross-splat games). As if there is an objective way to "balance" super strength against mind control. It is really up to all the people involved to decide that the game should be fun for everyone and play with that in mind.

    You'd have to go with 2 or 3, because with reaching a TCSrer can try (and succeed, considering success factors) at Celestial level workings.

    Though I don't remember what, if anything, Tombs has to say about workings, so if you play with just the rules in Tombs this might be a non-issue....
